In the 90s and 00s the Sun and the Mail would bang on aboutEU U Banana regulators banning bent bananas, and "you couldn't make it up" etc. It was so repeated it was used for gags in a bunch of TV shows and became a sort of cartoonish shorthand for that stuff, like Jeremy Clarkeson.
PS I saw in a previous video that people have been xenophobic towards you. They should hide their faces and weep in shame. You are welcome here, and are demonstrably more intelligent and thoughtful than any tosser who repeats the mantra that the country is “full”. It isn’t. We need more people like you.
Thanks Thandi. Classic clip. Yes, people like Boris Johnson used to write articles in the paper about bendy bananas. According to an article in the Standard that I just found, EU regulations say that the fruits need to be "free from malformation or abnormal curvature" which sounds fairly sensible. Apparently we decided not to get rid of the rule, so sorry people who voted based on it :D
My understanding is that it is actually a market regulator. There are bananas that are practically circular which makes it difficult to package them with others (or sell them) they decided to give them different categories to ease the banana distribution and sales systems. 😁
Great reaction, thanks 😊 Unfortunately, Stewart's later shows are much less available on UA-cam. Most of the available material is short clips like this. I'm guessing that this is due to copyright restrictions, but I'm not sure. Even if it can't be put on UA-cam, I'd recommend watching the whole of this show, Content Provider, once you've reacted to any clips you want to. It's brilliant, one of his best.
I don't have too much of an issue with Stewart Lee being a bit funny about copyright. After all his business model for a long time is that he is pretty much independent and doesn't have any large entertainment agency behind him. So I think if anyone should be getting any revenue off of UA-cam clips then it should be Stew himself.
@@GodlessScummer Oh no argument from me on any of that. If Stewart wants to monetise the work he's done to cover long term mortgage repayments, more power to him lol. I would say tho, that while I support his wish to control the distribution of his work, it does mean that much of his work is actually very difficult to watch. Not having a big agency doubtless affects his ability to get stuff broadcast, and many of his recent shows have patchy availability at best. He's not on social platforms either, so he gets very little exposure. I realise he doesn't like new people coming along to his shows, but it's a real shame he's not better known and better publicized.
One of the ones I like is when the EU told Apple that they needed to use USB-C plugs on their phones. Apparently we said, "We'll still let you use Lightning plugs Apple, cos we're different" and Apple basically said, "Nah, you're alright, we're not making different phones just for you." :D
I don't think you can make sweeping generalisations about people who don't like Stewart Lee. And it's not just racists that don't like Stewart Lee............
and he does know about mass immigration eroding, diluting, and eventually swamping the original Indigenous Culture(Wot England'ad a Culture lie other Nations? Who knew?) Wot was it? Fish and Chips? Ha Ha Ha Ha. After all, he came from The West Country and when he was raised there was,at least, a 2% immigrant population might have eve been 3% so he knows DIRECTLY what it is like unlike me who was brought up near Brixton and Peckham. What do I know compared to our Stewie..?
There was an eu regulation about how bendy bananas should be or at least that was a news story years back. I think it was something about the Germans preferring straighter bananas for some reason.
bent bananas where never band in the EU ,it was a research on waste packaging and one of the ideas was you could get more in a crate if they where straighter needless to say even the EU thought it was daft

8 years on and it’s still one of the best pieces of commentary
I think you'll like "warm up crowd control sheffield". Watched it so many times and love it each time

Great gig this one, filmed just down the road from me at the palace theatre 👍
In a hive of racists 😂
@@Diseased_Mr_T apparently so 😱
There's a follow up clip on Trump. Unfortunately I don't think UA-cam likes me posting links in the comments.
This is the one Thandie. Shows how brilliantly Stewart Lee links his shows together
Oh shit, I can’t see the link, what’s the title of the video or maybe the channel name please?

Hee hee Thandi, I admire your bravery for once more entering the grotty lions den of UA-cam Br**** debates! You and me 'gainst the world love x
