Demolition Of Ayresome Park

- This was from a video produced by Gordon Rees in the early 2000's, he'd had access to Ayresome Park after Middlesbrough FC had moved to the Riverside Stadium and had put together his footage with some noise and chants of Boro fans. I loved it as it brought back so many memories of the ground and while it was sad to watch the ground fall into disrepair before being demolished, it's certainly interesting.
I rediscovered this in my mums loft when clearing through some old items, as I knew the tape would be degrading I figured it best to back it up and let people see it before it turned to mush. This is a VHS dub via Avid & Aftereffects, the copyright belongs to Gordon Rees - if you see this Gordon and want it removing/crediting properly then just send me a message.

loved Ayersome park,Saw some great player here,Proper football ground & fans,I used to stand at the red Middlesbrough gates with my autograph book and chat away to the players,Whom all ways had time for the fans,Happy days!!
Cloughie talks about this place holding fond memories for him and now look at what it's become.
Wow- what a great piece. Brought back so many memories of all parts of the ground.
10:15 What a unique stand covered by a lovely looking roof. Such a shame that stadiums with their own character and full of history are disappearing more and more every year.
its one of the saddest things to see when a historical football ground dissapears for good ,we have seen too many go for demolition ,the stadiums of today all look the same design just different coloured seating , i am a traditionalist and i would always vote to preserve history
Couldn't agree more. What's the character of a club playing in a stadium which looks soulless and just like all the other ones built in the last ten or twenty years? What's left of the uniqueness and the appeal of British football with all these lovely gable-roofed stands being demolished instead of refurbishing them?
Such a shame that most grounds like this are now gone to be replaced by soulless crapholes with no atmosphere.
I totally agree with you. Lovely stadiums like this have once formed the unique character and the appeal of British football. Now, nearly all 'modern' stadiums look so soulless, frosty and awkward, especially those built in the last ten or twenty years. Unfortunately, almost everywhere in Europe it's the same.
@@ici_marmotte yes I agree
To right these new grounds a dull corporate them parks , this old Ground was immense. With about 15 k inside or more.i remember late 80s early 90s , not a Boro fan that Holgate was crazy ,n think the atmosphere now is better than it was , now they have rely on the hardcore again
I'm a leeds fan but boro was always a special ground to me many memories you noisy lot.
Briliant record of what was basically a craphole of a stadium. Lots of happy and not so happy memories there though. Thanks for posting
