*JOE CALZAGHE*
Most underrated technical boxer, unbeaten and his dad was his trainer.
Joe Calzaghe honestly was very unlucky because of the time he was fighting most the division was past their prime so its difficult to say whether or not he is the greatest
@@haarist2422 he beat a prime unbeaten Kessler did he not the guy who is one off wards and frotches best wins

@flint the kaka harris Age isn't the factor here Roy Jones wasn't the same fighter when he fought Calzaghe in comparison to when he was fighting in the 90's
@@jameschaloner7484 I don't rate Froch or Andre Ward up there with Calzaghe tbh
Joe Calzaghe has to be undefeated and technically the best, he made some very good boxers look very ordinary.
Calzaghe didn't fight the elite in their prime. Lewis didn't fight Tyson in his prime but he fought plenty of others at their best. Being undefeated has to be put it into context. Who did they fight? When did they fight them? How did they win each fight?
Andre Ward totally outclassed a world class fighter in Froch and would have beaten Calzaghe if they fought in the same era. Roy Jones JR a few years before their fight would have won easily.
Hatton is the only one who fought his opponents in their prime.
@@SuperMuneera Hatton got stopped on both occasions he fought the two best fighters on his resume. Mayweather and Pacquiao. Lewis couldn't fight Tyson in his prime it was impossible. Joe calzaghe. Even when he damaged a hand, his ring craft was to good. He kept them on his good hand and still threw more punches.

He's a great guy! My old man regularly picks him up and he is always happy to sign stuff for me and to get the odd picture 👊

Froch beat Groves, Kessler, Bute. 35 wins and 2 losses. As an Amateur he won 2 ABA titles at Middeleweight. Joe had more 8 more fights so clearly fought a wider selection that Froch. The main factor is the '0'. Apart from that, it's like comparing apples with pears. As Damon Runyon remembered, "comparisons are odious."
didn't fight his best opponents in their prime!
Fought the best when they were washed up and had a boring style with little personality. We remember Benn, Eubanks, Froch & Lewis because they had great fights and were great personalities. Fury can join that list but Calzaghe although good just never captured the public's imagination.
Joe Calzaghe had a boring style? LMAO. He threw a thousand slaps per round

In a head to head sense, I think Joe beats any Super Middleweight ever, and troubles most of them at Light Heavy too, but I think he left it a little too late to push for something legacy defining. I'd have them tied for first, maybe Joe just behind.
Carl froch shouldn't of even been mentioned, joke, calzaghe would of had him for dinner.

@@geoffreygoodyear3746 pillow fists? Tell that to Eubank Joe didn't always have bad hands. But even when he did he still whooped Kessler, who Froch lost to. Froch also got beat by Ward, where as Joe holds the record for title defences at 168 then moved to light heavy and beat B Hop and RJJ. Froch had a tough chin but he was too slow and too limited at the top level. Calzaghie would of been too fast and busy. Plus he ALWAYS adapted if things got tough, another thing Froch couldn't do.

Naz is a legend
@C B I know,Nigel Benn has a much better resume, and I'd put Benn between 7 and 10 but still ahead of Naz,he only just crept past a past his best Kevin Kelley and was soundly beaten by barrera,he has the odd good win but not really any big names on his record.
@C BSomeone with a brain. He got dominated and humiliated by a proper fighter. After he retired cause he couldnt hack it. All these excuse about his hands and couldnt make weight is bullshit. Floyd and many other fight had hand issues and still made it work. He could have moved up in weight. The guy is nowhere near great.
The only moment nas fought a guy who can fight, his face got punched repeatedly towards retirement
Naz beat sub par opposition. His only claim to fame was his unorthodox style and good knockouts. His record is on par with Deontay Wilders, maybe a little better because he had an odd win that was good. But nothing that really stands out when compared to other "British Greats".
@@psychoticpurse6579 yes his opposition was not that great. But truth is that he was so good he earned mils before becoming world champ. He was so good the best ducked him, leading him to fight shot opposition, a bit like Mark Too Sharp Johnson, who was ducked by many flyweights like Danny Romero, Michael Carbajal and Johnny Tapia (RIP), which lead Too Sharp to fight shot opposition. Naseem is the former undisputed featherweight champion of the world. He brought in heavyweight attraction to such a low division, and he made boxing easy and fun to do. Hes the most remembered fighter in the UK, and fighters like Mayweather acknowledged this. He is awesome no matter what.
Joe calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy...Lacey was the next Mike Tyson he was hyped up and undefeated..Joe calzaghe boxed his head off for 12 rounds in one of the most masterful boxing performances ever in the ring. That's what I remember most about Joe calzaghe's boxing career he's a legend and I think he's one of the greatest ever in the ring.
I seen in a British boxing ring in my time
They all avoided Joe even after 1997 when he beat Eubank Steve Collins said he couldn't fill out a Paris church he was chasing roy jones
@@mitchtheboss5730all avoided Joe? There was no one to fight in a division so dead him and svenne ottke could rack up 42 title defences each at the same time. That's why he isn't the best. Hiding out in dead divisions pretending he couldn't get fights, whilst smaller men Hopkins and Jones made it to higher weights sooner than him and campaigned there longer. And they were natural middleweights
Joe is mine But respect them all Hatton had some nights I’ll never forget Love British boxing!
Joe for me..... Lennox was out of this world with great power and technique but Calzaghe was so exciting, threw so many punches, never got beat and never drew, got knocked down multiple times and still got back up to win and was just seemingly invincible. Loved Naz also but Joe is the best
Lennox Lewis hands down.

Terms of talent Prince Naz
Term of achievement Lewis
Terms of desire Calazaghe
Let’s just celebrate the legends we had
Desire would be Carl Froch. What he lacked in boxing ability he made up with determination, stamina, desire and a granite chin
I think that Lennox Lewis isn’t even British. Left here when he was 12, boxed for Canada and doesn’t hv a British accent
@@Blank-km4qr But he was born there eh?
Regarding Lennox's nationality he was born in England he's English, his ethnicity, his parents are Jamaican he's Jamaican, he represented Canada in Olympics, He's Canadian. They are all just labels and lines on a map. He most certainly could be described as a British boxer, seeing as how he was born in London and fought in the squared circle, under queensberry rules with a union jack on his shorts. 🇯🇲🇬🇧🇨🇦🦁🌍🥊

JOE CALZAGHE.
Stayed in a division so dead, him and svenne ottke could rack up 42 title defences each at the same time. Hardly worth mentioning bro lol
My personal top 3 in are. Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis and Prince Nas.
So basically the title what everyone says? Lol
Tyson Fury should be taken into account
Calzaghi's the best I've seen. A fighter at 168 and 178 who can throw that many punches is insane. Great chin. He could beat every fighter he fought even in their prime apart from Roy....
Vault Dweller That’s exactly what Lacy said. Look how that turned out.
I don’t think that Roy beats Calzaghe in his prime. It’s an interesting match but Calzaghe has an insane work rate and granite chin. Jones doesn’t have Calzaghe’s resolve. It’s a tough call.
@@Jason-me1bs we can only go on what happened really.
A bit like arguing that Lewis would've lost to Tyson in his prime.
Both Jones Jr and Tyson shouldn't have took the fights really and kept their auras of invincibility.
That's why I believe Lennox did 100% right retiring when he did rather than risk losing to Vitali in the rematch. Considering that, it's another reason to make Lennox no. 1.
Joe cherry picked his defences at the end really. Whereas Lennox didn't .
@Vault Dweller That was after problems with his hands, they were like glass by the end of his career.
@@Jason-me1bs I'd go with Calzaghe on work rate alone.
Lewis. Undisputed heavyweight champion - the highest achievement in boxing.

Probably Lennox Lewis. Undisputed heavyweight champion of the world is no mean feat especially in a stacked division.
@C B nope fury would sweep the floor FOR him.
Jimmy Wilde. By an absolute mile frankly.
He was 103-0 at one point. Longest undefeated run in Boxing history.
_"The Ghost with a Hammer in his Hand"._
he was 92-0-1 before his first loss and those first 92 wins only took 4 years to amass! Boxing was a different sport entirely to the one it is now so it is really silly to compare fighters from vastly different eras. I notice he fought his first 27 fights in under 12 months! Imagine that, a fight every other week
For me Joe Calzaghie is the best boxer Britain as had in my lifetime. Floyd Mayweather gets all the credit in the world for retiring undefeated but when it comes to Joe Calzaghie the yanks dismiss him. They also berate Joe for fighting at home for most of his career, but not the likes of Mayweather and Ward for fighting EXCLUSIVELY at home.
Did Calzaghie spend too much of his career defending one belt? Yes but that wasn't his fault and even at the end of his career he beat some elite guys and a couple of legends. Just imagine what he could've done in his prime if Frank Warren would've let him off his leash. Joe beat everyone he faced and retired an undisputed 2 weight world champ 46-0
And even if he went after other belts others would have avoided him bit like Donnie nietes situation, nobody wants good fighters !
I'll go with Lewis because he fought monsters of the HW division and emphatically avenged the 2 he lost. He unified the HW division. Calzaghe a close 2nd.
Your forgetting Henry Cooper who in my opinion won against Ali floored him fight was stopped because off cut
He's toughest foe would have been Riddick Bowe. They buckets in the amateurs I think but that was a fight that never came to fruition at the pro level. Don't forget that he was down on the cards when the Klitschko fight was stopped because of a cut. So what's that fight and ask yourself why I wish there no rematch? Because Lennox Lewis retired is the answer. He didn't want anything else to do with Klitschko
Joe calzaghe all day long!!!
Has to be Jimmy Wilde, had a record of 131-3-1 with 98 ko's.
Yeah as much as I like Calzaghe I have to go with Jimmy Wilde unbeaten in his first 93 fights and only lost 2 more times right at the end of his career.

Naz shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Lewis or Calzaghe. Unlike Naz, Lewis chose to "Avenge" his losses.
Exactly
I know Eubank was the pantomime villain and everyone hated his arrogance (huge insecurity) but he has to be mentioned.. in his prime he was unbelievable. Great athlete, could take a punch, fast, brave.. Was never the same after Watson but he's got to be up there. Hatton was people's champ but when he came up against true class his lack of strategy and intelligence as a fighter was exposed.. big time. In conclusion.. Calzaghe over Lewis any day of the week ;)
Calzaghe just above Lewis for me.
He found a way to win, even with broken hands.

Nobody ducked him. There was nobody in his division to fight. Unless your on about trying to pull little middleweight Hopkins upto supermiddleweight?
