      Gloria's videos are really the best ... I learn something new too! But I got something wrong too .... the tallest peak in Hong Kong is Tai Mo Shan 大帽山 ... NOT Tai Yu Shan (Cantonese for Lantau Island, written as 大嶼山) I always mix up the two -- like, I KNOW the tallest peak is 大帽山 and I mean to say Tai Mo Shan (cause how can an island be the highest peak? lol), but 大嶼山 comes out. Do you find you do the same sometimes -- say one thing but mean another? 😅 We kept it in the video, so if you go back and listen carefully, you'll hear it!

    I remember exchanging a few messages with Sue here on UA-cam a few years ago. She said she was leaving HK partly for political reasons. I'm glad she's come around to the fact that nothing has changed in HK. If anything, the new political environment is so much better for the city.

    I’m glad I was able to see Hong Kong before it turned into communist state ….now I don’t think I will ever be able to see it again in this lifetime 😢
    Communism scares me as an American….scared of being falsely accused of being a “national security threat” 😢

    • @mrgenetics4063
      @mrgenetics4063 8 місяців тому

      @@cjl8769 not surprised you find this a joke …you don’t even look into it so you just brush it off but there are interviews and news articles of people being arbitrarily arrested for no reason or for a political retaliation. Just Google “americans arbitrarily arrested in china”. It’s most likely to happen to males and Americans (for obvious reasons). Obviously, all this is censored in the mainland so they won’t hear about any of this so that’s why this comment is a joke for many. Hope I can visit Taiwan before it turns communist, too.
      China is a wonderful country full of rich culture/food/architechure….it’s the “system” that makes foreigners think twice about visiting

    • @cjl8769
      @cjl8769 8 місяців тому

      @@mrgenetics4063 "it's most likely to happen" source: yourself 🤣🤣 figures: invented by you 🤣🤣 if you seriously think you mr genetics as an American are so important you might be arrested in mainland then wow I admire your love for yourself. good for you! some would say you're reaching and they wouldn't be wrong but oh well! there are such interesting analyses to make about Hong Kong's future as the one country two systems is coming to an end (and earlier than expected because of the PRC's growing power and hold on it) and about Taiwan's deteriorating relationship with mainland/its lack of international partners and support, but of course you as an American would make this about yourself and talk about the fear of communism as if it were the 1960s. you're making no point. all you're saying is "I'm scared for myself" "boo boo I can't even travel there anymore" "communism=bad" lmao it's quite impressive how you manage to make this Abt yourself and give a completely obsolete pov on current Chinese politics. in true American fashion, you do not even bother to pretend you care Abt the people that live there and might ACTUALLY face recession of democratic rights in their daily lives and ACTUAL arrests if they were to protest against it. I can't say I'm surprised but thanks for the friendly reminder🙏
