Kansas isn’t so bad for car laws too. I live there and everyone says we have strict laws but honestly from my experience they’re pretty chill. A lot of cool cars come through my town and we hold car shows sometimes~!

Let's leave all that California laws. What's happening is the ev are more worse than a gas powered vehicle. The agenda is to get rid of gas power vehicles in 2030. This is America and us tax payers should have word what to do in this so called free country.
EVs are bad for the world environment and on top of that a ev release a lot of radiation so you get sick so no only they want to control your car but they also want you to be a big pharma patient.

Like their radar or lidar they would need dyno would need to be certified and I would require police department to be certified as well so they know what they are doing rather then just randomly testing which can be inaccurate.
its surprisingly not that serious. I got stopped in my MR2 and they handed me a pamphlet saying its just a survey and completely optional and i said why not. They didnt even run it bc my lip would scrape on their ramps

@@hartsickdisciple idk what to tell you. they gave me a pamphlet asked if i had a few minutes for them to test and i said yeah. told me to sit under a canopy thing and they couldn’t get it up the ramps so they let me go. my exhaust was stock at the time anyways
I looked at a forum thread real quick and apparently they aren't even looking to test modified cars they're looking to test old ones i.e. the fun ones.

I plan on it but I have about 8 years I got to stack silver before I make my exodus. The idea is to have 350 Grand in silver and precious metals, one of those Thor axis RVs and a 12-ft cargo container full of prepper supplies like water food canned goods medical supplies and go on the ultimate road trip till I drop dead of old age...... Or go passport Bros and ship all my stuff to the Philippines where the dollar is worth 8 times as much.
I went to California for the first time in 2022 and it’s beautiful don’t get me wrong cruising in the mountains was a blast. We rented a convertible Mustang GT and it was so much fun driving through the mountains. As fun as it was I would never live there. Too liberal.
They were doing that back in the 90's when I lived in San Diego. CHP would block off a lane and start pointing out cars to pull in and get smog'd on the spot. So glad I left Commiefornia and moved back to Texas.
But when you're stuck in traffic, you absolutely need that extra two horsepower from removing your catalytic converter.
As a former race car driver, not wheel-to-wheel, but time attack. It's absolutely insane, the lengths people will go to to get faster, but they won't take a class.

I saw this going on one day a few years ago in the SF Bay Area. Of the cars lined up none of them were AWD and the dyno they had set up only had one set of rollers so maybe get some OEM badges that say AWD and put them on your car- maybe they wont know enough to check and you'll get waved on by?
Remember California Dreamin. It is now California Nightmare. People make fun of the midwest, but I like living here more than anywhere where else I lived. Just simple down to earth people that want to be left alone.

Couple of points to consider:
1. ANY modification to your exhaust from stock is considered illegal. Change out to an aftermarket cat or muffler, too bad, it's illegal per the EPA from the 70's.
2. They do not care about your car. If you car gets damaged on the dyno, it's your problem. Had E-check years ago
My truck was manual, they put an inexperienced driver behind the wheel and almost launched my truck off of the rollers, that and they drove the truck in a manner that would cause it to fail.
3. What is the right to refuse that owners have? can you cite having your car driven by an inexperienced driver as dangerous?
All in all, it's a way to extract money only from people who have money to put parts on their cars
I feel that police budget could be better spent on stopping crime rather than harassing drivers.

Just register the car out of state. Register in South Dakota as a full time traveler. Once you do that, fly over there and get your license as well to make it legit. You can do everything online.

Funny thing you mention airbags. My 1984 Pontiac Fiero doesn't have an airbags. No Fiero stock has an airbag. So, I wonder what that means for them.
People forget that some of us have drove for decades in cars without modern things. Just recently put a Momo steering wheel in my 02 Miata. In no way it bothers me because the six vehicles I had before it had no modern features people think are needed these days.
Use the White Enduro Go Pro batteries. The crappy blue ones always overheat which then causes the GoPro to overheat.
Look we live in California so we have to take it back and since cars now are great with smog emissions we need to oust the politicians that continue these bad policies. The car communities are less than 3% of the population. Car communities should be exempt and the the cars that are actually polluting like old cars with black smoke coming out of the exhaust should be the ones that get targeted not us.

as to the suspension law there are currently no laws against lowering your cars even in cali, and like many have said you can refuse a test unless your suspected of a actual crime they have no probable cause therefore no right to test your vehicle. But I get the idea that cali has for "emissions" but its dumb and pointless considering as far as I am aware no other country has restrictions like us and most of California laws are dumb anyways even more so than the car laws but good points you made here but I'd suggest everyone know the laws then you can't really be told your breaking them and get blindsided with usually just plain made up bs and even more important knowing your rights. Keep in mind I drive a audi q3 sline 2020 I got told to get on the dyno I was the first on in the morning the car behind me was a grand national and a Chevy ss followed by type r civic and 2 vans
the vans were the ones that didn't pass it's just emissions because I am 100% positive the ss and the type r were modified the grand national maybe it didn't look or sound modified it was almost 100% original
I think it depends on the chp doing it he was a car guy so he was super wet over the grand national n the ss

When you go to the dyno they usually make you sign a contract that there not liable if it blows up on the dyno. So whose taking care of the damages if the police force you to run your car hard on the dyno?
Racing steering wheels, seatbelt harnesses, and roll cages are not acceptable for street use.
Just don’t delete your catalytic converter, that’s what controls emissions. Unless your car is super old, it might not be required then?

Oh, boy, don't look the things they do in Europe and the things you can't do to your own car. Here in Spain you can't change your brakes, exhaust (even if it has the exact same catalytic converter and silencers), tire and wheel size, suspension, engine, turbocharging your NA engine...
Well, you "can", let me explain:
-Changing your brakes? You can only use homologated brakes and you have to pay a laboratory 2 or 3 times the cost of said brakes to take a test, and if for some reason you fail (let's say you left a little air on one line) you have to pay again, and then do LOTS of paperwork only to be judged at the ITV (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos) and sometimes denied to drive your car if they feel like it.
-Changing your engine? Same story and you can only use newer engines that the one you take out and you cant modify in any way the car (even welding a new engine mount) so that rules 90% of the engines out. Oh, and you have to change the brakes too so you have to pay the test I mentioned earlier too.
-Wheel size you directly can't change it beyond a certain point (I think it's like whitin 2% of the original size).
It's litteraly a mafia.

No, the California Highway Patrol is NOT using mobile dynos to catch modified cars right on the streets... historically, BAR (and now AQMD) contracts the CHP to help manage a voluntary emissions survey, which they explain to you when you are selected. You can absolutely decline with no repercussions.
The only legal mandatory checkpoints in California are DUI checkpoints, and only because the California Supreme Court has determined them to be “administrative inspections,” like airport screenings, allowing the "probably cause" pull over requirement to be circumvented due to an immediate and serious public safety issue (which is a decision that is a bit dodgy, but whatever). Anything else, an officer needs probably cause to pull you over. A lowered, loud (but legal) car is not probable cause for anything.

Just like with everything you have rights and can refuse any of this crap they can only get away with what you let them. If they pull you over they have to have a reasonable and articulable suspicion that you have, did or are going to break the law other than that they can f o!!!
What if you had it set up especially with a laptop to make it run extra lean just for the test since it wouldn’t hurt it that quick especially because they’re probably not making you rev it up that hard or that high And maybe to make it pass even easier quickly take out a bunch of power LMAO since you generally have to run it a little bit richer for added boost and stuff And maybe if it’s straight piped or whatever you could have a cut out that reroutes it going so its going through a catalytic converter ha ha ha ha all just so you can pass! fuckin’ got em’!
