Brought back memories of when I worked as a delivery driver for Dominos in the mid/late 90"s, delivering pizzas in my first car, 1980 TE Gemini Wagon.
One shift it spat a lower baljoint turning a corner with 2 orders in board, lower control arm wedged against the rim and had to get it 'toad'🤣
I started walking back to the store and luckily another delivery driver stopped and we did both our deliveries in his car.
Last time I drove it for deliveries, went a whole shift with the timing chain rattling and grinding, finished my shift, counted up money etc, then went to start the Gem to go home...click, whirr..timing chain finally snapped..had to get it 'toad' home🤣
My funny car joke is, I still have the old Gem nearly 30yrs later, completely bare shell, fully recond G200z efi been taking up my engine stand for over 10yrs, all my original and new parts ready to go, it's just waiting on a full paint job (hopefully I can afford that one day) then I can reassemble the old girl and re-live my pizza driver days as a semi-retired old delivery guy, in flash as fuel injected Gemini🤣👍🇦🇺
Ex Subaru tech here. I've had a couple of EZ30s with sticky intake cam followers. Sounds similar to a bottom end knock but can be easily pinpointed to the head.

22:43 Funnily enough, this is what they do in Disneyland. They pump out certain scents in certain areas to get a complete atmosphere going so the guest would feel immersed. Even when your near certain shops that sell food there too they do that as well.

ive got a 96 volvo 850 turbo. that has a 2.3l inline 5 and it sounds amazing with a aftermarket exhaust. Pretty sure its the same inline 5 ford put in the focus st. Great episode guys ty

Sorry to be that guy, BUT.... the focus mrk 2 st (and mrk2 rs, mondeo titanium x sport and the smax/cmax and lastly kuga) had a volvo derived 2.5 inline 5cyl turbo charged engine, badged duratec on the plastics and nothing like the mrk3 st 2.0 4cyl ecoboost 😅
Recently watched the most recent 240sx build video that was like 2+ hours long. Was a nice watch alongside working. Turbos and Temples I'll grab some popcorn and spend a night watching it. The longer form is fun at times, but would rather progress alongside the build, than a dump all at once.

I worked at a bakery once, delivering bread to Subway and other retailers. The dough is by their own recipes and they do smell more than other bread, both raw and subsequently warmed at the shop :D (original 36)

Can confirm. Subway bread is delivered frozen. It needs to thaw, prove and be baked in store. Same with the cookies. All the steak bits and chicken stuff is frozen too. I used to deliver the stuff. Pretty sure the jalapeños came from mexico too. Weird for Australian stores.

A supreme may not be floor pizza, but at the dominos i worked at the staff would eat what we called pit pizzas, at then end of the night you gathered up all the ingredients that got dropped onto the bench under the grate of the make line, threw them on a pizza base and bam, never the same pizza twice and there were some damn good ones. Some shit ones too but that was what made it fun

What people don’t understand about subarus is the amount of traction that they get, and the way that they make power. Those 2 things are why they blow up. Specifically talking about subaru’s with 2x LSD’s like an STI or something STI swapped. Boxer motors are torquey little things. They make tons of power down low- even with good sized turbos. The wildly-high cylinder pressures of the low rpm grunt of EJ/EG/EZ motors combined with the stupid amounts of traction that they make is why they blow up, and also are why we love driving them. A 2wd car with an LS for example will just overpower the 2 tires and melt them. That takes a lot of load off of the engine. Where as with an STI with 2 limited slip diffs and the always-on awd puts load on a motor like nearly nothing else. The amount of traction that a properly set up STI makes on modern tire compounds and the amount of power that they make at 3k rpm with modern turbochargers would blow up any turbo engine. An STI is a one of a kind driving experience. Nothing else feels like an STI. And when you make a fast one that multiplies. People think that Subaru guys are idiotic gluttons for punishment. No, we aren’t. We’re addicted to that feel/sound. There’s not another car on this planet that drives the way an STI does. They have no drivers aids. You don’t have computers working out the traction for you. If you try to toss one into a corner like a RWD car it’s going to expose your noob-ness and understeer. Take my car, a 2018 STI. What other new cars existed in 2019 that I could have bought with an always-on rear biased AWD setup with 2x LSD diffs, hydraulic steering feel, 6 piston brembos, and an engine that sounds and feels as unique as an EJ, and came with a manual, a big trunk, and 4 doors that I could fit my teens in? Nothing. There is no other car with that analog of a driving experience, and that manuap of a driving experience. that fits those needs. And when you start making more power in one they really get addictive and you’ll always go back to them because nothing else is quite the same. I started as a V8 Mustang guy and I love a N/A V8 driving experience also, but living where I live in upstate NY in the Adirondaks- if I could only pick one car to drive all year round for the rest of my life? STI hands down. Not even CLOSE. Maybe an R34 but they aren’t as analog with their awd system, they’re more wizardy like an evo.
Anyway. I just figured I’d explain to the haters why we love these cars and why they break so often. Because nothing puts a load as aggressively onto an engine quite like an STI on sticky rubber can. The platform (especially the VA STI which is 40% stiffer torsionally than the outgoing 2014 model was) puts a beating on an engine like no other gasoline car does. The constant load is also why they get 16mpg lol.
Fun fact: I went and test drove an STI back in 2017 so that I could hate on them better. I wanted to drive one so that I could have more ammo to pick on “ricers” with. I’ll be honest. I test drove one out of spite. Well guess what? After 2 blocks I was in love. After my first sharp corner I was hooked like a heroin addict. I bought one 2 years later.
Dudes think that AWD is AWD. They don’t understand that an STI and a Haldex type awd car are completely different things. Even compared to a good haldex like an RS3. Yes an RS3 can put power to all 4 tires but it doesn’t always do that. It has computers sorting out what tires get power around a corner. That is gonna be better for most drivers. But for somebody who wants that pure analog driving experience and the ability to manually adjust your handling dynamics - there is only 1 car that offers that.
Surely the bombshell was Moog just taking his hat off! Not in 16yrs of watching, have I seen that!
I did the eye laser about 8 years ago. Absolutely worth it but the most uncomfortable thing you can do. Not painful though. Like Marty says, going from seeing badly to being completely blind for a brief period isn't fun, but worth it.
Same, best thing ever. The only instant fix... you walk in not seeing, you walk out, go to sleep, wake up seeing perfect. Only thing is, if your prescription is wild... like I'd guess over 4.5 or 5 ask about alternatives. My buddy had his retina detach, his optometrist knew right away 😮 a big correction over time puts strain on the retina, blah blah blah. Anyways, yeah awesome stuff

The Levorg tick sounds like a wrist pin hole hollowed out on one of the pistons. Happened to the LS1 in my Trans Am back in the day due to insufficient oiling in that cylinder. Ran fine, held power, held compression, but a ticking sound that increased with RPM.

I had a Camry once years ago and wanted to turbo it but never did. I had about 15 friends send me the Camry video because it was so good haha
I have recently re built a EZ30 with valve springs from Possum Bourne and I also have a ticking sound.
Though mine only happens above 4,000rpm when it's trying to change the VVL.
I've put it down to a couple faulty buckets that aren't locking together properly but only half way through tearing it all apart to swap them out.

Worked at Subway. Can confirm bread comes to the store frozen, like breadsticks. Nothing weird about it though, like super-sugar or anything like that (that I know of). No bread smell emitter... just what the oven makes and it wasn't deliberately vented indoors from what I could tell. Would also be illegal, I think.
We definitely baked cookies at opportune moments though, to tempt people... oops, I mean encourage them to purchase cookies with their meals. :P

Marty, I had a similar noise in the last Subaru I owned. The local Subaru specialist said it was probably loose/worn wrist pins, which apparently is a somewhat well known problem that doesn't get worse very quickly, and I was told it probably wasn't worth rebuilding my engine to fix. I drove it for some 30,000 miles like that before I traded it in for a newer model, but mine wasn't turbocharged so I don't know if you would have the same results if that is in fact what's wrong with your Levorg. Good luck diving down the rabbit hole and figuring it out.

My wife got her eyes lasered back in the 2000s. We both watched videos on the internet of it being done,,,in what turns out to be relatively low resolution. When she went in to have it done, I about freaked out. They had a 48 inch tv that they showed the procedure in real time in HD. When it was done it was amazing. Before doing it, she stood in front of a desk and couldn't read a clock on the wall above the desk (vision before 400/20) right after the procedure I saw her and the nurse looking out the 2nd floor window. "Can you see that red car with white bumper sticker on the other side of the parking lot?" "Sure".
I think it's just the Italian Herbs and Cheese bread smells bomb. And they make it even when they don't need it to keep the smells flowing.
DUDE! Lasik eye surgery was the most nerve racking thing I have ever done...and I'm a combat veteran, father of 2, and a scuba diver. NOTHING has made me panic the way lasik did. Scared the piss out of me.
I’ve seen ej25s with bad rod knock like you say Marty, they can get bad quick. I’ve got an ej25d, my daily, has the same noise on cold startup, every single time when under say 15 deg C or when oil is low. It hasn’t gotten any worse over the 2 years of driving it now, I warm it up till the noise goes away, sometimes just head off immediately after startup. Mine sounds exactly the same. I assume mine is that one side of the wrist pin has play, when the gudgeon expands under heat the play is acceptable and the noise stays away. Also low oil level plays a huge factor towards the noise. A tear down seems like the only sure way to find out, good luck. Thanks for all the great content guys, all the best!

Possible place to start with your levorg noise. Put it on the hoist in gear and stop each wheel one at a time (can hold tire by hand, abs module will throw a code but no big deal) If noise goes away, you know it's that wheel bearing or cv shaft even diff. What I'm more suspicious of is the clutch chattering, though. Pain in the ass but remove the clutch, and you can isolate whether it is an internal engine or drive line noise. I've also seen harmonic balancers get tired, and new engine notes appear.
