I lost my dad because of his weight struggles and weigh over 500 lbs myself. Never would I consider this movie fatphobic. If anything, it really made me feel less alone.
I'm sorry for your loss
But is it made for people struggling with being obese or overweight OR is it meant for the people watching someone go through things and feeling helpless? I'm sure it can be taken differently reoensing on each person since we're all so different in every way right down to triggers..emotions etc.
2 completely different peoplecould have opposite opinions or outcomes and yet u can BOTH be valid. There's no right or wrong with certain specific. So I wouldn't take Amy too serious besides your own personal one
Same.
im sorry for your loss
this movie is not fatphobic and is the first time i really felt a movie portrayed how it feels to be morbidly obese like myself
Ignorant
wishing you strength and peace
As somebody who struggled with morbid obesity for over 15 years and still struggles with obesity, this movie really made me feel seen and felt very close to home. I do not find it fat phobic in the slightest and for once it wasn’t making fun of the fat person or using them for comedic purposes.
this 100%!!!
Absolutely. This is the first time I watched a movie and saw myself in it.
Literally what? Comment that somewhere else to follow the overhype train fr just cuz it didn’t affect u dont mean it doesn’t affect others that got it worse than u! Ignorant asfk
She is misinterpreting the movie completely. She sees a few scenes where the character is having struggles and didn't even see the lesson of the movie which is about redemption before he passes. The family was upset at him because he left his family. It's about closure and those around him at the end loved him. It's about him reuniting with his daughter and have closure to his relationships, especially his family. His family disliked him because of his actions at first, not because of his weight. The Whale is a reference to his essay the book Moby Dick, not himself.
I agree! I was over 300 pounds for over 25 years and I thought it felt raw and honest.
How the hell do u label the movie “fatphobic” without even watching it. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised tho but damn people really need to stop throwing labels on things/people with little to no information….
Because she’s triggered & has no control over her emotions like she always claims. Poor Malibu. Sincerely, poor Malibu.
You really need to watch the movie for yourself. Clips on the internet are deceiving. It's not fat phobic at all. It was a really good movie. What I took away from the title itself after watching the movie was "the whale" was not referring to Brendan Frasers character..you really gotta watch it, it'll make more sense and change your view on the movie.
Agreed
@Krusty Krab she has a habit running with her emotions before thinking logically and taking the time to research something, which in this case would’ve been sitting through the whole movie to form an educated opinion. This video is unfortunately a projection of her insecurities and a lazy attempt to fit into trendy discourse.
@@mariak9589 true, I haven't watched the movie yet and I don't think i'll watch it soon even if I want to, but I would not dare to run My mouth about the movie if I don't know what it really is lol
@Krusty Krab bingo👍🏼
Thank you for this. Maybe now I will be brave enough to watch it because I was worried of being triggered as someone who struggled w anorexia and body image for so long
this movie puts a spotlight on a sensitive issue, it is NOT fatphobic. as an overweight person myself, i thought this movie was incredible. he isn't the butt of the joke, it's a serious role with other life problems not just his weight but his reconnecting with his estranged daughter and so on. i think this movie will actually make people that have closed minds to feel sorry for this man and how he struggles daily, it's about empathy and kindness.
No, by Trisha’s logic anything on TV and Cinema shouldn’t touch on any sensitive issues because they are triggering. Even if they touch the hearts of some, educate others and/or help start a conversation. Nope. By her logic she’s “not easily triggered” yet triggered by a movie she hasn’t seen & anything that could potentially be triggering shouldn’t be made because she doesn’t see “what it’s being made for”.
yep Brandon played a character that was coming to the end of his life, and even tho he knew that a lot of his problems were linked to his weight, his emotional state was so broken, that food was the crutch to get through the day. it was a very telling movie, that this could be anyone. if not careful in the choices we make in life.
You really need to watch the film if you’re going to call it fatphobic. It isn’t. It was written by a man who was formerly morbidity obese. 600 lb people do exist and the acknowledgment of their existence isn’t “fatphobic”. The Whale title has a deeper meaning that you would understand if you watched it. Brendan had to wear a fat suit bc someone who was genuinely 600 lb immobile wouldn’t have been able to film it.
You can’t say these things about a movie you “skipped over”
It’s so crazy to me she’s not even watching the movie. than say this kind of bullshit. imagine you have a child and don’t know what is Context.
I feel like you should actually watch the whole movie before commenting on it Trish. Watch it with an open mind and then circle back and tell us what you think vs only watching snippets.
the irony of your comment being posted the same time the video was published, you obviously didn't even watch her video before forming your opinion
@Angie I mean, she said she didn't watch the movie? She's seen clips but does not know the whole context of the movie. Her feelings are valid because people are sharing specific clips with some mean comments but it's true she hasn't seen the whole thing 🤷♀️
I love trish but this has always been something that’s frustrated me about her. She never fully learns something or thinks critically before giving her opinion. It’s easy to write this film off as fatphobic without watching it. I had no expectations prior to watching it and walked out of the theatre in awe. It was a beautiful film and left me speechless. Disregarding it as fatphobic is lazy and insulting to the everyone who poured their heart into this film
@@mariak9589 not sure how you can "love trish" and maintain this position, since surface level critique of this nature is far from new
@@cute__shutin I feel like this is a very reasonable critique to assert. Making sweeping judgements about something you know almost nothing about to the point where you’re spreading misinformation is irresponsible. She has every right to her opinion and so does everyone in the comments who actually watched the film that she’s presumed to be “fatphobic.” It is very lazy to assign a label like that to something that is actually the complete opposite…
The movie the whale is really about grief, inability to grieve, confusion about grieving, weird attempts at coping during extremely painful grief. That’s what I took out of it.
And addiction
Watch the movie. I cried the whole time. For many reasons, death, relationships, weight issues. Everything.
The movie was very sad but excellent
I also cried the whole time. People need to watch it before claiming it’s fatphobic just because it’s about someone struggling with obesity!
It was a fantastic movie. Well written, well cast. I had the worst migrain from crying the entire movie. It was worth the migrain. Nice to see a fresh written screenplay for a change.
You are misinterpreting the message of the movie completely if you think it's a fat phobic movie. You see a few scenes where the character is criticized you think that's the whole movie. The point of the movie is closure and redemption when it comes to those around him. His daughter was mad at him because he left her. It has nothing to do with her hating him just because he is overweight. This movie about him setting things right before he passes and finding happiness. It's mainly about him setting things right with his daughter for leaving her. This is why it won an Oscar. The movie is called The Whale in reference to an essay his daughter wrote about the book Moby Dick, not his weight. That essay was a major part of the movie. He was an English teacher. Watch before you judge and take outta context scenes
Thank you for your objective insight about this beautiful heart wrenching movie as well as the motive of this person who deliberately misunderstood it even without seeing it.
@@DammikaW48474 Yes, I agree with you!! :)
@@It-costs-0-cents-to-be-kind. 👍🙏
Wasn't it his daughter who wrote the essay?
You really need to watch the movie. The title is kind of a double meaning. The whale refers to Moby Dick, but also about his size. The character played by Brendan Fraser got to that weight because he basically is trying to kill himself. It’s a long way to do that, but that was his intention. If anything, the movie shows how society is fat phobic by people’s reaction to him. You really need to not talk about things until you’ve seen them. You can’t go by clips and snippets when speaking about this. And yes, I am an overweight, middle aged woman who has been struggling with weight my entire life. I have been called names by people I don’t even know. Hell, I’ve been called names by people I did know. Being overweight and being depressed is a horrible, vicious cycle that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It is not an easy movie to watch, but it is a very good movie.
Wasn't fatphobic. They made the character super likeable and sweet. Also before making a review. I suggest you watch the movie. There was a way deeper reasoning to why it was titled that and you would know if you actually watched it. Seems like you're talking about fatphobic things you've experienced in your life and less about the movie itself.
This movie actually really humanizes his character and the character is absolutely not viewed as just being “fat” and not a person. And it’s called the whale because of all of the Moby Dick references and analogies throughout the film.
yep in a day and age when we are supposed to be body positive, this movie is telling the gritty truth. it's not fat phobie. it's a shame society has messed with trishas head so much, that she see's it that way.
Trisha, people have for years been advising you to please see a registered dietician and therapist for this and to overhaul the food in your house from so much processed food to whole foods and to daily educate yourself with the right books, videos and speeches on nutrition instead of either binging or starving.
If you are immersed in it intellectually and emotionally, you'll be more likely to actualize daily healthy patterns and within a year achieve desired results, mentally and physically.
You can really make a shift and turn it around like you clearly did in many aspects of your life.
If you also move your body in some way each day, for physical and mental health, but not as the main way to drop pounds, 30 minutes most days to 90 minutes maximum, it would be beneficial for you to be healthy and mobile for many years.
One tip - feed your children as much real, whole foods as possible, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, so they enjoy it, follow hunger cues, don't have eating or body issues and won't go through your pain.
If you didn't do it for yourself, see someone about the best foods for growing children and to learn the healthiest way to discuss food, energy, strength and health with young ones.
Don't research "diet" books. You don't want a quick fix. You've tried that. Look at health resources like
the Gut Health Doctor;
Dr. Gregor and his book How Not to Diet;
the Forks Over Knives video and website
Best to you 💛
The problem isn't the diet or exercise. She knows what to eat. She's lost weight before. I'm a Trish fan but it's clear she lacks discipline. If you aren't losing weight you are eating too many calories. Period. The problem is having discipline to not overeat.
Literally, you could technically eat McDonald's everyday and do CICO and lose weight.
It really is as simple as just don't eat as much.
it will never happen. She's a junk food junkie. Prime candidate for a heart attack.
The scene when Charlie (Brenden Frasier’s character) was stuffing his face was not him having a normal binge. That was him making himself sick to the point of unaliving himself because at that point of the film everyone turned their back on him & he felt truly worthless. He basically had a psychotic breakdown. The film & that scene in particular truly is disturbing & triggering I 100% agree but the film is not fat phobic…if anything the film sheds some light on the lifestyle someone of Charlie’s mental state lives & allows you to emphasize with them. Personally I don’t think you should watch the film Trish because it is very triggering but just know it is not fat phobic.
It's about redemption and finding happiness before he passes. Yes, it's sad but that's not the point of the movie. The eating parts is about addiction and how he has coped with problems in his life. It's similar to drug addicts. It's about him reuniting with his daughter and closure.
[ Trigger Warning ]
Binge eating disorder, anorexia, & drug addiction are all issues my family (I’m talking about my parents/siblings) struggles with. My household has always been filled with addiction & the people I love most in this world not valuing their health one bit. This movie hit very close to home & left me with unsettling anxiety for days after watching it. Losing a loved one to addiction and poor health has always and continues to be my biggest fear. If this sounds like you I personally would say to skip this film because sis it’s a DARK one.
I’m overweight and suffer from binge eating. I use food as a medication when I struggle with emotional pain and to deal with trauma. I’m getting better now but I’ve dealt with it for eons. I don’t feel The Whale was fat phobic at all. In fact the scenes where he turns to food or ordering food really made me feel it was me. I feel good that we are trying to show that people who are overweight need to be heard. We aren’t lazy, we aren’t careless with our health, we aren’t unaware…we have pain, medical conditions, trauma and so much more I am sure. I feel the movie did a great job showing that and I hope others found it positive as well. I my opinion Sadie sinks character was also in pain, had trauma, and her way of dealing was to lash out and she was insensitive. I don’t feel her character was sensationalizing being rude or mean. It was showing an insensitivity that exists out there and for her it came from her abandonment issues. Feel free to reply and discuss. Let’s keep it kind and conversational please. I’ll respect all responses
Perfect said. I also have BED, and it truly is much more complicated and nuanced than most people who haven't dealt with EDs can fathom - even some people with EDs can't. To see the struggle portrayed in such a sensitive light makes me feel seen.
@@kaymo225 I hope you heal from whatever is hurting you or going on that allows you to speak like that and act that way. Get well soon and wishing you the best.
Kinda hard to talk about a movie if you haven’t see it… but in true Trish fashion, you get people talking.
This didn't go how you thought it would, huh? 😂
Wait a minute. You haven't even seen the movie? You came on here triggered and didn't even see the whole movie. Also, drug addiction movies definitely are portrayed every bit as gruesome (Basketball Diaries?)as The Whale.
Requiem for a dream...I mean come on Trish
I just don't understand making a whole review on a movie that you haven't even seen. This just seems like a vent sesh about her own health had nothing to do with the movie.
Girl this is not it! You don’t have to get mad just because you wanted Austin Butler to win
You're not triggered by the movie. You're triggered by the title... and yourself. You haven't watched it. You're assuming things that don't exist. The title isn't even about his weight. It's not about your projections - it's way beyond that. It's a beautiful film and an entire experience that will leave you feeling and thinking. It embraces the core nature of humanity, love, and shame. Watch it, then come back and critique it. Leave your projections at the door. It's not always about you.
Why don’t you just challenge yourself to watch the movie before deciding it’s being directed straight at you.
Lmao u must not know who Trisha is. EVERYTHING is directed at her and EVERYONE is out to get her. So clearly this movie was made FOR her 🥴🙄
Multiple have said this
This video was not it Trish :/ I feel like you completely missed the message this film was trying to convey. You didn't even watch it, so I'm having a hard time understanding why you'd make this video without actually knowing what you're speaking on
His relationship with his daughter more relates to how he left the family, to me she was more disgusted with his actions before he even had had the weight, he values honest people which plays a big part in the movie
this!
thank you for explaining! I was also unsure what to think about it and if I could handle watching it.
Exactly
Yes, the obesity was just the straw and an excuse.
I love you Trish, but I disagree. Brendan actually gained a lot of weight since his prime due to several injuries. He’s lost weight now, but he was definitely bigger and I think he was great for the role. The movie was definitely sensitive, but also depicted the reality for many people. If anything, it taught people to be more understanding of the struggle of being obese.
He was also a victim of the ‘me too’ movement but because he’s male, no one took his words seriously. He was blacklisted. His comeback story is amazing in itself. He is so remarkable in this film. So Proud of him!
funny how she will spend so much time “obsessing” (her own words) over a TV show or movie she likes but can’t spend some time reading the context and more info on this one movie…..
@@pineappleice100 I do get it though-she feels triggered and that’s valid (for her.) It’s a shame if she won’t see it but it’s definitely not for everyone.
@@gloomgirl I’m not saying she needs to watch the movie. She keeps saying she doesn’t know the point of the movie or why it was made. She can read up and find that out without watching the movie.
they could've easily used a real actor, and not used something demeaning like a fat suit. brendan being a good person doesn't change that.
So basically, you were never morbidly obese, but you are offended. Is this a joke?
Common bad take from Trish I'm afraid, she struggles to see beneath the surface of anything and also knew this would get views.
She’s morbidly obese as we speak.
I mean she is morbidly obese.. she just keeps getting liposuction so it doesn’t look as terrible.
220lbs is easily 80-100 more than she should weight
Mmm she's is now 😂
Ohh lord! Things irrelevant influencers say on social media to feel relevant.
👍👏💯
You’re triggered over something you never saw? Watch it first then you’d probably understand what it’s about. It’s not fatphobic at all. You have plenty of resources to get to a healthy weight if you truly were interested in doing the work, but instead it looks like you opted to sit at McDonald’s after filming this.
yeah exactly, she doesnt watch entire movie, then "triggered" ugh and then yes opts to make several videos of eating garbage food. i hate that i even checked out this video for a view.
It wasn't fat phobic in the slightest! Made me cry alot
As someone who struggles with an eating disorder and constantly gains and loses weight I could relate to this movie a lot. Specially when using food as a coping mechanism. 🥺 it wasn't fat phobic at all.
There are two reasons this movie is called the whale. One of the papers (as a teacher) he’s obsessed with is about moby dick, the whale. You should spend the time and watch the movie, Trish. I come from a long line of morbidly obese people and struggle with weight in an intense way, but this movie put a light on obesity as humans and not a monolith.
I think this movie like all movies, is just a depiction of a sensitive subject. It was supposed to make us feel uncomfortable by emerging us in this person’s reality. I don’t think it was supposed to be judgmental or to hurt anyone…
Don’t make yourself sick over a movie Trish 💞
Ignorant
Exactly! Well said!
Amen -isn’t that the point? Movies are supposed to make us feel things, if it hits a nerve-that’s ok. Many of Aronofsky’s films deal with addictions of some sort. This is not fat phobic imo-it’s a fictional depiction and may not be for everyone🤍
Yeah but I didn't like that part when he literally ate his whole kitchen. That is not real. Everyone gains weight differently. You can literally eat like everyone else & gain a ton of
weight & another person can eat alot & not gain as much. Then there are people who do eat slot & gain alot too. so.. People need to stop judging. Its not ok.
@@gloomgirl Unless it hurts feelings.
Nobody is going to take your critique of a movie seriously when you haven’t even watched it. The movie isn’t fat phobic in the slightest, if you gave it a try you’d see that
Wait she didn’t even watch it? Lol
Movies are sometimes made to make you feel sad. I watched the movie and I cried my eyes out. I used to struggle with obesity. You are supposed to feel bad for the main character and yes the movie is portraying an addiction and addiction is UGLY. There’s plenty of movies where drug addiction/alcoholism are portrayed as well. I probably wouldn’t watch some of them because of my own personal issues and because some are very graphic. At the end of the day our triggers aren’t other people’s responsibility.
You really should've watched the movie first, before making this vid. It comes off as ill-informed and foolish. There's a huge reason for his weight gain; trauma, grief, and regret. It's not played for laughs. Also, the title of the movie, The Whale, is not about his size. It's about the topic for his estranged daughter's essay. The one thing that kept him alive in his own personal hell.
You obviously do not know the definition of fat phobia. The movie is amazing. Everyone should see it.
This shows you know nothing about this movie. It is not fatphobic. Do not comment on something you haven't seen.
It's not.
Emotional eating is a coping mechanism and it show cases the devastating effects.
This movie is definitely not fatphobic. Trish I’m sorry but if you actually watch the movie and listen to the story it’s so much more. I have a lot of family members who are over 400 pounds and this movie gave me a whole outlook on what they must deal with. This is a very important movie.
Over here crying about a movie you never even watched. Get it together trish.

Never will i feel bad for a millionaire crying about their problems when they can easily get therapy or a nutritionist.
She can hire a fitness trainer to come to her home & workout, hire a chef that prepares healthy food, she has the resources but would rather eat junk food & watch movies, it’s a lifestyle change for a healthy life, be an example for Malibu
@@AngelBlu7 She obviously loves being overweight. She could lose all the extra weight within a year. She has made bring overweight part of her online persona, and that’s why she doesn’t take losing it seriously.

The worst review of this movie I have seen yet. It sounds like she should have just posted a video or her personal life experiences minus her thoughts on The Whale. She just needed to vent about this topic.
She's not offended about the movie. She's milking it for her own benefit.
She is ruled by her emotions. She is definitely upset.
I understand where you're coming from, but I'm literally clinically obese at the moment due to trauma-induced BED (used to be skinny, natural weight is thin), and I absolutely hate the term "fatphobic". It makes a mockery out of actual oppression. Weight discrimination is real, but acting as if it's some sort of oppression comparable to sex-, race-, and sexuality-based oppression is WILD, ignorant, and insulting as fuck. Your weight can be changed; your sex, ethnicity, and sexuality cannot. Meaning you can actually opt out if in most cases, you cannot do that with the aforementioned identifiers. This victimhood/"wanting to be oppressed" era needs to end. Speaking as someone who has also studied psych, it is not healthy at all. This is not to say that it isn't a real challenge to be overweight in a society that looks down on it, it's saying that some perspective is needed when you start talking about it as if you're some sort of "minority" (you're not).
And when it comes to the movie, what's "fatphobic" about it? You haven't even seen it, so how would you know? Context is everything. And Brendan Fraser was clinically obese himself, and was not treated well by the media or the industry as a result. You have to appreciate that this is literally acting and not a documentary; and that entails, well, *acting*. They weren't making fun of the character's weight, the story/original play was literally inspired by the writer's own life, who is a gay man who used to be morbidly obese. It showed the seriousness of mental health issues, depression, binge eating disorder, and morbid obesity. There was no mockery. It's wise to do some research on the very topics you wish to criticize.
Great response.
Unfortunately, Trisha doesn't care.
She didn't even care enough to watch the movie she is claiming to be so offended by.
She's still playing her old tricks, and will say and post anything that she thinks will get her the most reaction and engagement online.
I think a therapist is really the person to help you with the complex issue of weight. It’s almost all psychological. It’s something anyone struggling with weight deserves.
She needs constant therapy in general
100%
WTF! You didn’t even watch the movie to know where the title comes from or when she screams at her father, whom she didn’t have a relationship with, to walk was because he has heart problems and doesn’t want him to die. You are doing what all influencers do “don’t take 15 min of my life and assume the whole story”, you are taking 1 min clips and assuming you know the movie.
YES! YES! YES! YES!
I have to disagree this time Trish! I loved this movie. It made me feel uncomfortable in such a powerful way , the main actor was awesome too :)
The ending was a touching, powerful scene.
@@Logical_Chronical It was!
I thought the movie was amazing. Best film of the year for me. It was so emotional and touching and was crazy to think it got the audience so emotional being all filmed inside one apartment. I’d say if weight issues are a trigger for anyone then just don’t watch it. But you can’t not make movies because it might trigger some people. There’s films about cancer and a lot of ppl are affected by that, but they won’t stop making movies about it.
This!! People don’t want films to be made that might be triggering? Don’t ‘hurt anyone’s feelings’? What kinds of movies would we be left with exactly? It’s just craziness…no one is forcing you to see it? Not every film is made for every viewer! If war triggers you don’t see ‘Saving Private Ryan’ etc This film was so much more than an ED film but if you can’t see it, don’t…
@@gloomgirl and the irony is she didn’t even watch the film and yet she’s sharing her criticisms of it. like maybe watch the actual art before sharing an opinion or criticizing it? she’s not exactly bright though 😂
@@sittingaloneinvip yes I see your point but my comment wasn’t even about Trisha (lol)-I just find that every film/show seems to have ‘TRIGGERS’ lately and people complaining. I’m mostly afraid of censorship and of Art being banned or not made because it’s ‘hurting someone’s feelings’ (I was arguing under this post elsewhere) I get that this film isn’t for anyone and yes Trisha should have seen it before posting this but it’s way more than just her. It’s a problem and without Art, even things that make us uncomfortable, we really will be evolving backwards imo. 🤍
@@gloomgirl absolutely. you’re responsible for your triggers 100%. we can’t tiptoe around everyone’s feelings.
Trish you misunderstood the whole point of the movie. But go figure a lot of stuff goes over your head so why am I not surprised.
The movie is about addiction and redemption with his daughter before he dies. Charlie's addiction is food. It depicts his addiction without candy coating it. The movie parallels somewhat with Herman Melville's book, Moby Dick. Anyone is free to watch it or not.
Please try to watch the movie. You’re completely missing the other side to the story which is him choosing addiction over all the people in his life who do everything for him to keep him comfortable and alive as long as possible. That’s why his daughter lashes out at him so harshly. It doesn’t make it right but they both have trauma that makes them do things that hurt not only themselves but also others around them. Also it’s pretty common to scream at addicts when they’re killing themselves right in front of you but refuse to get help. It can drive your loved ones insane and lead them to coping in unhealthy ways as well. This movie is extremely multifaceted and each character has their flaws, not just the fat guy. You’re getting too hyper fixated on how people treat him and completely missing how he treats the people around him. It is definitely a hard watch but it’s realistic. Coddling and enabling someone with an addiction is infinitely worse than trying everything you can to get through to them, like screaming. It doesn’t come from a place of hate. Tough love is necessary a lot of the time. Not every time, but often. There’s no comfortable way to overcome an addiction.
you haven’t even seen the movie. The title of the movie is referring to an English paper a student wrote titled, “The Whale”, & Brendan Fraser is a professor, so he reads & grades papers. He clearly relates to the story in the paper, so he likes to read it.
Yes, he is obese, but that’s not why the movie is called The Whale.
Crazy you’d critique a movie & be so offended by it when you have never watched it.
You need to watch the movie Trish.
So one of your favourite actors wins an Oscar and you find a way to make it about you... instead of saying nothing.
It’s triggering because it’s real, it’s sad because it’s real. Powerful movies come from a place of discomfort.. just another perspective 🖤
At one point in my life I was over 500lbs. I watched this movie and loved every second of it. This movie was not fat phobic, it was the most accurate portrayal of what being morbidly obese actually looks and feels. If this movie triggers you, it’s supposed to. It’s supposed to be hard to watch. If you watched the movie you would understand why there was anger towards him. He left his family for a man so his daughter is allowed to be angry, spew hatred and be traumatized. Everyone involved in the film was incredible but especially Brendan. The movie inspired me to stay on my journey to have a healthier relationship with food, with my body and my mind.
It takes place in a apartment the whole time because it’s based off a stage play. Also I can’t explain the title because that gets into spoilers but the title means way more than his weight. The movie is so beautiful, as heartbreaking as it is I do think you’d love it Trisha
Thank you! I haven’t seen it yet but now I want to
The clips you describe are very hard to watch, but the daughter is kind of the villain/antagonist in the movie. I understand some pieces of media are just too triggering to engage with, but the filmmakers I think were very delicate, but there’s no way to contextualize a two hour movie in a tik tok
Very well said
If anyone was the villain it was the dad for choosing his addiction over everyone else, but imo there are no villains in this movie, just traumatized people who don’t know how to cope.
Doesn’t she have a baby? Where is the baby

The whale was so good. Coming from someone who’s also fat.

You can afford it! Get a therapist, hire a nutritionist, chef, and personal trainer! You’re still beautiful the way you are now, but if you’re complaining about wanting to be skinny, DO something about it
How can you call a movie ‘fatphobic’ when you haven’t even seen it? There is something not right about you girl! 🙄
The scariest thing you can experience is seeing yourself
boom mic drop
I understand not wanting to watch it but you shouldn’t talk about it unless you have. It’s like criticizing a food without eating it
It’s an amazing movie. And you should watch it before spewing your opinions on it. your feelings about it are irrelevant to the fact that people go through this stuff daily and it’s a story that’s being told weather you like it or not. Also the word fat phobic is so stupid
I love how she says 'I'm done with drama' You crave it. Get off the internet.
Unless you have lived in a morbidly obese body you can’t know what it’s like. Struggling to do basic things like wiping or cleaning yourself is a level of humility most will never know. These people are prisoners but also captors in/of their own bodies. Their stories have a right to be told like any other
Lol Trish is just seeking attention as always
You should watch something before commenting. The film is not a clip, and honestly the film is actually humanizing someone struggling. Have you considered your own content includes a large portion of monetized binge eating sessions, with a targeted audience of young people? The Whale provides a realistic look at this topic and I’d recommend it. Reflect and look inward and you’ll find a happy lifestyle will follow naturally.
Beautifully said.
Oh Trish I gotta be honest..was rolling my eyes within the first minute on this one.
The takeaway I got from the movie is that everyone deserves love. Yes there were some very sad and shocking scenes but the overall feel was to NOT judge overweight people because they are also people.
Why make this video if you haven't even watched it 😢
With all due respect, it seems like you are grasping at straws to stay relevant.
I'm sorry but this is a you problem, not the movie
I watched the movie and it was not “fatphobic” but I think it triggers you because it’s probably because you fear of you becoming that way. They were angry at him for other reasons their comments of his weight had to do with him letting himself go and not caring anymore about his life -he was dying- You want to say being heavy is ok but you just said your uncle had diabetes, there is other complications of not eating healthy like high blood pressure heart attacks heart disease high cholesterol and so forth you have a child Trisha and it’s irresponsible that saying having an unhealthy life is ok you say you have an eating disorder for how long already? And you have not seeked help every time you post here you always eating junk food and you make excuses why you are the way you are is not ok you just don’t want to change. The man had a daughter and I think it also triggered you because you are afraid your daughter will say things like that. Trisha the movie is out it won an Oscar get over it no one will boycott it just cause it bothered only you!
Baby you’re no where close to 230 pounds, more like 300+ why lie about it?? Just be real, we can see you!
⬆ THIS!!!!!!!
is Trisha really crying over a movie she hasn’t seen whilst sitting in her mansion and sipping on her starbucks that she’s bought for the fourth time this week .. okie dokie
Ikr, I might have to finally unsubscribe. I like Trish and everything, but the things she talks about now are so unrelatable to me now. I've leveled up to HRH Collection now lmao...
@@emmyandboo hrh is the final boss 😂
Fat phobic is a made up term. It’s not “phobic” to point out the health and mental issues that go along with being obese. There have been movies about the struggles of being anorexic or bulimic, it’s not hateful to make a movie about being obese.
You should really watch the movie before making a video about it.
Do you get paid to watch tik tok? Because I can’t fathom any other reason to watch as much as you do
Brandon really put a lot into that movie. I wouldn’t judge him or the movie. It was meant to make people think and to make people uncomfortable for a reason he didn’t just put on a fat suit and hop around like an idiot that’s not his style I think you really need to do your research on the movie and not just go off of TikTok.
You judging the movie without watching it is like people judging your weight without knowing your struggle. Its understandable why you don't want to watch it. As a person who has struggled with eating there whole life seeing that movie is like watching your biggest fear. Eating yourself to death. Frightening indeed.
Bro it ain’t about you
I think you missed the point
Girl you haven’t changed in the slightest. Maybe understand what you’re talking about before you criticize it and make it the title of your video.
Wait you didn't even watch the whole movie? Girl this video is pointless you don't even know what you're talking about
I completely disagree with you. If you watched the movie you would understand that it’s not fat phobic at all. It’s a beautiful story of a man trying to fix his relationship with his daughter. It’s called the whale because (spoilers moby dick and a essay that charlie loves in the movie)
Why are you trying to make something out of something it’s not? Stop being offended by effn everything world my hell, get over yourself
Anything to remain the victim eh Trish? One day you may grow up
She’s a narcissist with seemingly other personality disorders. It will be HARD work she isn’t capable of. She’ll always fall back on projection & placing blame elsewhere eventually
It’s not fat phobic ffs 🙄
READ the comments Trisha! My God. This movie is not about you, please stop. First watch it and then you have permission to judge. It is absolutely not fatphobic.
Friendly reminder that in the US, we have access to NEDA, the National Eating Disorders Association, which offers a helpline via text, call, or online chat. Please take care of yourselves, everyone!
I never knew this. This is so helpful. Thank you
i find it funny you just assumed it's called The Whale bc you associate that with fat people. the name isn't related to his weight. if you'd seen the movie or even read a summary then you would know that. it wasn't a fatphobic movie & it wasn't trying to depict fat people as less than or inhuman. it takes a look at sensitive subjects and shows the reality of how people could get to that size. but it didn't demean him or his relationships. watch the movie to get actual insight into what it's even about. you're just projecting your own internalized feelings onto a piece of media. if you don't wanna watch it you don't have to obviously. but you're taking the actual subject matter out of context. i've dealt with my own weight issues (not to his degree) & i enjoyed the movie. it is sad, but not for the reasons you're implying. try to be less reactionary when you don't even know what you're talking about.
Why are you making assumptions about a movie you didn't see Trish, you are really desperate for views😢
