Jamel is the BEST, doesn't fake it with a bunch on Crap at the beginning. So many reacters trying to be or get famous....but Jamel keeps it real, probably why he's approaching 600K
You need to do the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore East live album version better yet you just need to do the whole damn album.... welcome to the rabbit hole of the Allman Brothers Band
These guys got me through my tour in Viet Nam way back in 1971. Them, a few Beers, and little smoke, helped with a lot of ugly things I saw, and friends shot and killed. Greatest Blues Band ever.
Those of us who grew up with all of the great music that we were blessed with know just how lucky we are! Allman Brothers have been one of the best of the best since they started Southern Rock! So glad we have all these music videos for new people like you to be able to get to experience them! 🎶🎵🎧😎🎶🎵🔥
Correction there is an Indian couple men and a woman that have reacted to southbound I'm not sure what their name is but you might be able to find it in some place on the internet
Just love your reaction! I'm so glad your on this musical journey and lovin' it! Your darling. Dwayne Allman used to live in my hometown of Muscle Shoals Alabama and played on several albums before he and his brother decided to form the group here. At the time Fame Recording Studio's made Muscle Shoals the hit recording capital of the world. I saw Mick Jagger when they recorded the Brown Sugar album and Aretha Franklin. There's a good documentary out about it.
Allman Bro’s were among the best live shows you could possibly see for 45 years. Check out the final shows from the Beacon Theater in NYC from 2015. They finished so strong. The Allman Bro’s family of bands continues strong to this day through Govt Mule, Tedeski Trucks Band, Allman Betts band and more. A world class and timeless lineage of American music.
if you'd like to add another to the fold check out the "Marcus King Band" Warren Haynes produced one of his albums and the young brother has soul! The pipes and Guitar he possesses are outta this world too!!!
Seriously dude, Gregg Allman's voice and Duane Allman's guitar make this incredible. But for another excellent blues song, listen to them do Not My Cross to Bear. You will love it.
I second that. I've made this request on different reactors pages and have yet to see it done. Also, "Jessica", "Ain't Wasting Time No More" and "Melissa" are all good
After the Fillmore version, highly recommend checking out later incarnations of the band doing Elizabeth Reed. 1990s era with new members Warren Haynes, Allen Woody & Marc Quiñones, and then 2010s with Derek Trucks and Otiel Burbridge. Live versions from the Beacon Theater in New York are always amazing.
Allman Brothers were a tight knit group who could lay it down as good as anyone. RIP Duane Allman will always be regarded as the greatest slide guitarist of all time.
@@carolyn64 If you think I don't beat myself up. I had tickets to see Greg in Oklahoma City like three months before he died, and for the first time in my life, I didn't feel like driving the two hours to see the show. Been to 300 big shows and this one I couldn't make myself get up and go. I had tickets to see the band in the 90s and the show was canceled, so I never saw the band or Greg solo, and that really sucks.
I am one who believes 'Whipping Post' is the touchstone for what becomes Southern rock. Bands named Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band. All these musicians were in the biz at the time. But it was The Allman Brothers (in general) and Whipping Post (in particular) leading the way. I'm 61. I first heard this song when my big brother bought the album shortly before Christmas 1969. He played it nonstop. I STILL take the ride with every listen. 'Whipping Post' at its essence is raw, honest to the core, unfiltered blues. This is a fantastic reaction video!!! Best of luck JRV with your channel, RNB
I forgot to mention the 11/8 time signature (123-223-323-45) that sets up the first verse and follows each "Good Lord" section. Effortless and impeccable. RNB
The Bandit forever! And Jerry Reed May have been the best Guitar player of all time. But these cats could freaking play, the soul exudes from every pore.
"Little Martha", an acoustic duet between Duane and Dickey, is one of the most stunningly beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, any time, any genre.
25 years ago I went to Santa Cruz, CA to visit my sister who was living/ working there. Her boyfriend told me he had Allman Bros tickets for that night. I knew they were good, but........... I was stunned, shocked, mesmerized by what I saw that night! Oh, my God! Instant lifelong fan. Saw them twice more in Texas with Little Feat. Unbelievable musicianship, never played the same way twice, and never got lost in a dead- end jam. The best live band ever
In my book, this is one of two of the greatest rock-blues songs ever performed, along with Since I been Loving You from Led Zeppelin III. You might also like Midnight Rider and Melissa, but they have a whole catalogue of kick ass songs.
Greg Allman and Brother Duane (guitar) have so much soul. Duane is recognized as maybe the world's top "slide / Blues" guitarists ever. Greg Allman's voice is so raw and real. Duane died in a motorcycle accident only a couple years after this was recorded. He was only 23 yrs old. The Band went on for another 35 years or so. Greg just recently died as well . He was in his mid 70s, but still performing. God Bless
Love The Allman Brothers! Dwayne Allman was one of the best guitarists ever! He passed way too soon. They have a lot of amazing songs Soulshine, Midnight Rider, Melissa, One Way Out. You can"t go wrong.
As my old friend Bleedin’ Gums Murphy said, “The Blues ain’t about making yourself feel better. The Blues are about making other people feel worse.” (With love...) 😎
As much as I get so much enjoyment out of you being able to experience this music for the first time I find it amazing when you're first time is gotta be my hundredth time of enjoying the song and then I feel sad that you haven't had a hundred times too but I also know you get to look forward to that
Great reaction. The Allman Brothers band are one of the best. Statesboro blues In memory of Elizabeth Reed and many others. On a side note - the visuals playing behind you with the band members and lyrics - nice touch. Great job.
In 2016 I moved from the west coast back to the dirty south where I belong, and I had that song saved for a very special point in the trip. The first half of the trip, I was headed more or less due east. Then finally came the day that I turned off I-90 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to head south on I-29. At long last, I was southbound, mama, coming home to you. I cued up "Southbound," Turn It Up full blast, and sang every word with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes.
You’re right, it’s fire! Two lead guitarists, two drummers. RIP Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Berry Oakley, and Butch Trucks. Please watch the video of them doing this song at the Fillmore East.
I’ve been listening to this song for nearly half a century and I have the same reaction as Jay every time! Considered unparalleled live in concert. Live at the Fillmore East has a 20 min version of this song. A combo of rock, blues and jazz. No band did it better! 🎸
Incredible song and reaction. Gregg Allman captured the pain and soul of the blues in his vocals! All of them were incredible players. Those guys were so original and way ahead of their time!!! Glad to see they rope-a-doped ya into a corner in one quick minute. Pure love. Try "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" for a beautiful jazzy and latin flavor; probably my fave ABB song ever! PS-You, Jamel aka Jamal, and Soul Train Bro are the best reactionaries out there. Guys who KNOW music! Thank you for doing what you do with the Headphones of Truth.

Pound for pound the GREATEST band ever
Fantastic reaction to such a wonderful song. Thank you, so much young man. You have a bright future for certain.
