Xamaica. But it's so hard not to go full tiki whenever I get started with a Daiquiri... because I can't choose a rum so I start mixing them and then, well, I have syrups and pimento dram right here...good grief.
It has become part of my routine to check your channel every Friday to see what I’ll be drinking over the weekend! Never disappointed, cheers Anders! 🍹
Love the reminder to relax on the strict ingredients/ratios/serving styles. Mixology/bartending is an art form... play with it, make it your own, and avoid the inflexible "has to be this way or it's wrong" of these things called cocktails. Nice work as always team & cheers to national daiquiri day! 🍹
I love a good daquiri. I use 'em for a couple things: first, just to make a really simple, easy, tasty drink. But I also like to make a quick daquiri with about every new bottle of rum just because it's a great way to try the rum and get a feel for how it mixes.
Best cocktail channel. I went to an upscale bar in Dallas on vacation and ordered a daiquiri. Bartender couldn’t make it. I’ll never forget that. Rum lime sugar.
The only grip I have with a daiquiri is how quickly they go down! For the classic, I LOVE using Plantation 3 Star rum. Just a hint of funk adds some complexity. Same rum I like to use in my mojitos for the same reason.
Another vote for Plantation 3 here. Made an enormous difference in the quality of my daiquiri. My ratios are sightly different but they work for me: 2 rum:1 lime:0.75 crystal syrup (1:1)
I typically find myself subbing out white rum for an aged rum. 9/10 times aged rum just makes a drink better. Keep up the good work! Love watching these videos every Friday!
Thanks for the Daiquiri refresher and the dark rendition, always looking for great riffs on the classics. Great drink to discover and develop critical cocktail skills. I learned two key lessons from making the Daiquiri at home. 1. How to balance the sweet and sour notes for my palate (I lean slightly sweet) while maintaining the signature lime bite of the Daiquiri. 2. How to shake for proper chill, dilution, aeration, and integration.
I make daiquiris as a template to try things, (bitters, syrups, etc.) so I've had quite a few daiquiris that were odd colors. Also, I use whatever rum I'm drinking that month, not always a Cuban style, so even then they're rarely bright white. My favorite uses Plantation 3 star, agave syrup, lime, and a fat dash of orange bitters.
I made a daquiri menu for an upcoming party with all sorts of variations. Some of the more interesting ones call for the Plantation Pineapple rum and use either the Luxardo Maraschino or falernum and allspice for the sugar source. So much fun!!
I made a Grapefruit Daquiri in my last cocktail bar, used half simple syrup and half of my homemade grapefruit syrup. Turned out really well! Garnish was a dehydrated grapefruit slice
I love Daiquiris and I do a dark one too. I use Myers dark rum, 2 oz., Sugar in the raw liquid syrup if you can find it. It's very thick and has a flavor that really enhancers the drink.Scant 3/4 oz and 3/4 oz lime juice. Try it, you'll love it.
You are so right about the greatness and timelessness of this cocktail. Between light, dark, agricole and overproof rums, there are endless (and delicious) combinations to explore here. For a while, my go-to was 50/50 barbancourt 4-yr and wray & nephew, which was tasty and very potent. Also loved working smith & cross into various combos. Cheers!
You just made me go into my kitchen and make one! I used a 3 year old Cuban rum (Havana Club) don't think you get it in the U.S. It's a light rum with a slight amber tint. I also used a brown sugar for my syrup. Tried it and with drink in hand I am watching the rest more of your channel...and I just love it! I had no idea that this drink originated in Cuba. Learn something new every day 🙂
Hey Anders, I love your take on this. I have actually read through some of the old Daiquiri recipes. Some did include modifiers (I.e. a dash of grenadine, or curaçao, or maraschino, or bitters). I really like the dash of grenadine included next to the simple syrup. I know it’s not the classic, but each to their own. Enjoy your weekend bro, I really appreciate your videos every week, I know it takes a lot of effort to make these. Cheers 🍹
Thank you so much, David! Really appreciate it. I'd love to try every variation of the daiquiri - it's such a good template. Enjoy your weekend with a great cocktail. Cheers!
Just wanted to say that upon watching this video I tried a daiquiri with both dark rum and white rum and it was superb, thank you Anders for the idea. The richer bolder flavour of Ron Zacapa ambar 12 paired really well with the crisp smooth finish of Bacardi blanca
Love it! We do lots of tiki drinks including daiquiris. I typically use a light rum like Real McCoy or Probitas but always supplement with a splash of Jamaican pot still to add that touch of earthiness and character. As I’ve said before, looking forward to you doing more tiki drinks, like jungle Bird, jet pilot, Saturn, navy grog, etc.
as a Louisianian, we love our relaxed liquor laws and i use the drive up daiquiri shop every weekend😂😂. it’s considered a closed container until you take the piece of tape off the lid of the to-go cup. also we can take home to-go drinks from the bar
6:42 - "If you like any rum, put it in a daquiri." That's probably the biggest takeaway from this entire video IMHO. :D It's basically just a rum sour so really any rum's great to put in it.
My mouth is salivating. I haven't had a daiquiri in so long. I'm always trying other drinks and trying to learn new flavors. Looks like it's always nice to go back to a simple and timeless drink. You're amazing. Enjoy your weekend and stay cool.... Away from the studio. 🤣🤣🤣
We love your channel. Tomorrow we're having "Cocktails at the River" at our cabin. Hoping to make it a yearly or twice yearly event. Rum is the focus this time and daiquiris are on the menu. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Anders, Daiquiri has always been my favorite. Here is my version, definitely not a classic, but you should give it a try if you haven’t already.. -45ml White rum (Plantation 3 Star) -15ml Dark rum (Appleton estate 12years) -15ml Cointreau -20ml fresh lime juice -20ml semi rich simple Syrup (1,5:1) I recommend adding a little more of both Syrup and Lime (up to 5ml each depending on your limes and your preference of course), otherwise the Cointreau can be quite dominant and destroy a otherwise beautifully balanced drink. If done correctly you add an interesting dimension to this Cocktail with the Cointreau and the dark rum. Serve up and enjoy :) cheers!
Man, Plantation 3 Star is my go-to base for daqs (or any drink that calls for a light white rum). Good call on the Appleton as well. That 12 year is so freaking smooth. Gonna try your recipe soon!
so simple, yet one of my favorites. i always do 2oz rum, 1oz simple syrup and 1oz lime juice. i find it very balanced and not really too sweet, but i’m curious to try your “lower” ratios 💪🏻 keep up the good work, love the channel!
Had a 2:1 simple sugar already made (never goes bad that way, for those that don't know) - so I used your recipe but lowered the simple sugar between the 1/2 and 3/4 mark on my jigger - turned out perfect! Thanks for the vids!
I am happy to find that others make a “Dark Daiquiri”, and I enjoy both variations. For the classic Daiquiri I use Bacardi Heritage which is 89 proof and distilled in Mexico. I also use a 2:1 simple syrup. For a Dark Daiquiri I have been using the Appleton 12 year or Matsuala Rum, my rich (Demerara) Syrup is also 2:1.
Jumped up and made one, dark, before the end of the video. I've been making daiquiris all my adult life, mostly with fruit, but back to the basics is awesome. Flor de Cana 7 year old rum and agave syrup instead of demarara because it's what I had on hand.
So last Sunday I was making two Daquiries using Hamilton white Stache and the other was Plantation 3 star. .75 lime, .5 rich simple, 2 oz rum. Both were excellent, with Plantation being a bit sweeter. I also like using Kaniche XO with lemon instead of lime when I want a dark daquiry.
Man I wish I could find that OXO jigger without the insane markup we have here in Europe… it sells around 40€… That aside, Anders, you got me hooked up from the first video. They have it all and every time I recreate a cocktail with your ratios, they taste amazing. Thank you so much !
I ordered one and love it. That sucks you have to deal with the markup. My only gripe with it is that there is no 20z (60ml) measurement. Not a deal breaker, as it has a 1oz (30ml) measurement. Other than that, the the thing feels great in your hands and there's virtually no spillage. Hopefully you can pick one up for a reasonable price!
One of my favorite drinks - Gin, lime juice, semi-rich lavender syrup, coffee bitters (don’t overdue, meant to balance sweetness not overpower with coffee flavor)
Thank you Andres! Another educational, entertaining, amazing video! I really hope that one the channel goes on the road to talk to distillers, mixologist..and visit lounges etc. Your style is so entertaining and enjoyable to watch. And when you and Az team up, it's sheer delight. Keep up the great work!
Happy Friday! I can't say I've seen the dark Daiquiri before. Going to have to try this one, especially since I recently made a fresh batch of demerara syrup. Great video as always! Thanks!
So glad that you made a daiquiri Episode! It is my favourite Drink! Congrats to 300 k subscribers btw - you and az earned it! Superb Production quality!
Hi Anders great video! I make my daiquiris with a split base of 1.5 oz Rhum Barbancourt and 0.5 oz Pussers Rum. For the sugar component, I use Liber & Co's gum syrup. It gives the drink overall a fantastic velvety mouthfeel.
Haven't had an honest old school daiquiri in years - thanks for the reminder of just how good a simple drink like this can be! Sipping one right now, and it tastes like a vacation!
So just tonight was daiquiri night here using Appleton Estate 8 yr. Reserve, and a 1-to-1 demerara syrup. Much more robust than with Bacardi. Very reminiscent of my very first drink ever at Franklin Mortgage Co. here in Philly, where I was introduced to El Dorado 12 yr. (A great discovery for me, because my grandfather was born in Paramaribo.)
I absolutely love classic daiquiris. I could drink them on a daily basis. My go to recipe is adapted to the cocktail codex version: 1,75oz light rum (Plantation 3 Stars, it has some light jamaican funk in it) 0,25oz Clairin (makes a huuge impact) 1oz lime (opting for super lime, recipe by zack zoschke) 0,75oz 1:1 simple Perfect Daiquiri for my taste buds.
Hey Anders, been watching now for a few months, made most of my fave cocktails from your recipes, or direct riffs of them. Made something today; 1 oz Hennessy, 1 oz Angostura Trinidad & Tobago 5 year, 1 oz Curaçao, 1 oz lime juice, and just shy of 3/4 oz of “your” grenadine. Wow! What did I do?!?!
My fav rum cocktail. I use angostura 5 year, plantation OD, some single cask rums from plantation, dooly 5 year, el dorado 5 (if it has to be sweet), prohibitas (or veritas in EU), 50ml plantation 3 star en 10ml hampden rum fire 😍 en small amount of velvet fallernum, equal parts PL 3 stars and rum bar gold, .... you can not screw up this cocktail if you use quality rum! Thx for the demerara syrup tip!
Anders, I've invented my first cocktail, a pineapple-coconut daiquiri. It came out so delicious I had to share it: 2 1/2 ox. Plantation pineapple rum, 1/4 oz. Koloa coconut rum, 1 oz. lime juice, 3/4 oz.simple syrup. Shake and strain.
Just made a batch of these with oleo saccharum instead of plain simple syrup and OMG, it elevated the drink to another level - everyone here is now requesting a Daiquri! Had to share with this forum. Happy Father’s Day everyone!
I always do a 112 daquiri with 2:1 simple. I love that sweetness. I think I've explored every single rum I own in a daquiri, and they're all fantastic. It's such a good vehicle for rums =)
Thank you for this video! I do love to make complex and convoluted cocktails but some days you just want the simple perfection of a daiquiri. Have never tried a dark daiquiri but I just got some Hamilton and I'm excited to give it a try. Cheers.
A couple years ago I tested about two dozen Daiquiri specs to find my preferred recipe. This is what I settled on: 20 oz / 60 ml light rum 2/3 oz / 20 ml lime juice 1/3 oz / 10 ml simple syrup I also use the semi-rich syrup. I'll also often blend white rums. My favorite house blend is as follows: 9 parts / 45 ml Bacardi Superior 2 parts / 10 ml Rhum J.M. 1 part / 5 ml Wray & Nephew
Very nice. I made mine tonight using homemade semi rich simple syrup (from your helpful video) and Cotton & Reed (DC distillery) white rum. Tasty! Thank you!
I'm still using the Don Q Gold I bought a year ago when I wrote down all the recommendations from your starting a bar on a budget video and went to the liquor store. The only size bottle of Don Q Gold they had in stock was the handle. I have bought a bottle of the Hamilton Jamacian Pot Still Gold (which I think is identical to the Black, except for color). I should try that one.
For my preferred daiquiri, I like to use either Bacardi, Plantation, or Diplimatico as my light and dark rum choices. Or Bumbu (spiced and XO), Smith and Cross, or El Dorado.
Since you ask, my preference for a Classic Daiquiri is to use Bacardi white label. Unimaginative, I know, but it's basically designed for Daiquiris. I have a sweet tooth (unsophisticated, I know), so I use a richer simple syrup than the video calls for. As far as the Dark Daiquiri goes, I think I'll give it a try.
I personally prefer 1:2:4 for lime:syrup:rum, but that's clearly a matter of taste. Thanks for another great video, Anders! EDIT: Oh, and I also use a 1:1 simple syrup so that definitely has something to say too.
Anders, it has been a little over a year and a half since I started watching your videos, and my oh my how far have you come (over 300k now.) I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have taught me. Moreover, you inspired me to create my own cocktail Instagram. I posted my first picture a few days ago and the drink was a daiquiri (I guess great minds think alike). Anyway. thanks for everything and keep up the good work. Cheers!
Recently discovered the Royal Bermuda 🇧🇲 Yacht Club Daiquiri recipe which has become my favorite. The Golden Falernum seems to moderate the acidity of the lime juice in the regular Daiquiri and the Orange Curaçao 🇨🇼 seems to temper the tartness of the lime juice resulting in a nicely crafted slightly more complex and smoother variant.
My favorite cocktail. My favorite recipe is; 2 oz Barbados White rum 1 oz LIme Juice 2 tsp of a homemade granulated sugar mix made of 4 parts Cane Sugar, 1 part demerara stirred with the lime juice prior to adding the rum to the mixing tin. The Barbados White has a hint of a rum/floral note to it's taste without being sharp or sweet. The sugar mix is from BeachBum Barry the "Tiki Historian" and owner of Latitude 29. It conveys a clean sweetness with a touch of depth to the flavor.
try this with 1.5oz rum (i use bacardi but only because it’s readily available in england), 0.75oz lime, 0.25oz simple syrup and 0.50oz peach schnapps or other peach liquor. It’s amazing!
I use Chairman's Reserve Silver in my daiquiri. I also use light agave syrup in place of a simple sugar. I love the affinity the agave syrup shares with limes. I'm glad to have learned National Daiquiri Day exists and I did not miss it yet. I suppose I would make a dark daiquiri with my Ron Zacapa 23 and Dark Agave.
loving your videos. i use either a clairin haitian rum, better to make a nuclear daiuiri with chartreuse vert, velvet falernum and lime juice. or Veritas Barbados white rum 47%. i think you have a bottle on your back shelf. exactly the way you did the light daquiri. LOVE a daiquiri me. so cheers
Two fabulous methods of making delicious Daiquiris!! I also use The Real McCoy, aged 3 years, in the 1st Daiquiri that you are making here - I sub in The Real McCoy rums in a number of cocktails. Love their rums!! These are both so delicious Anders!! Love your videos and they often influence what I drink over the weekend!! The classic is my favourite!! Cheers and have a terrific weekend!! 🙂
Thanks, Christine! You've got great taste in rum! I'm curious what bottles you have available near you, and if they're different than what I can get my hands on. Hope you're enjoying the week! Cheers!
Hi Anders well done for posting all 3. I will try all 3 over the next week then try 60ml Calverdos (I don’t have Applejack) 20ml Benedictine and Yellow Chartreuse. I will stir it and put over a rock in double old fashioned with apple fan garnish. Nick from York
I make all my light rum drinks with an Agricole Rum; my current bottle is from Martinique. I love the taste of a cane rum vs molasses. And, national Daiquiri day is July 19
Doing the Dark Daiquiri tonight! I have El Dorado 12 Year at hand so I will use that one, should be wonderful together with the demerara syrup... Cheers to Daiquiri day Anders & Az! 🥂
Well this was a good reminder that I should make a daiquiri sometime soon, before my Cuban rum gets used up on in Cuba Libres (which are my current summertime go-to weekend sippin' drink)
I've always considered daiquiris my #1 favorite cocktail. People always look at me weird when I say that because they think I'm talking about the overly sweet frozen ones. I think Flor De cana extra seco makes the best clean daiquiri, but I do love dark ones as well, and the best daiquiris I've had in bars here in Portland have always been dark ones. Amusingly, the best daiquiri I ever had was at the whiskey library lounge. They were doing these banana daiquiris with doctor bird rum and I don't know what else but they were just perfect in every way. I had like 5 of those that night. I've been trying to recreate it at home with what I have on hand, using creme de banane and various rums. They're good but not on the level of what I had at that bar.
I love Friday when I find your newest and I really love Daiquiris. What I thought you were going to make when I saw the darker one, but you didn’t, was the Captain’s Blood, my fav variation. You need to use Smith & Cross Jamaican rum (100 proof). And you add ango. Otherwise it’s just A daiquiri. Delicious and packs a punch. Oh and drop a tiny bit of ango on top and it makes a dark trail (the blood 🩸). Mmmm
Still not making any rum drinks and still have no rum bottles in the home bar. It all dates back to a college days, very long ago and very ill-advised "daquiri tasting" evening that evolved into a rum shots evening. Haunting memories, let me say. That being said, now older, wiser, and vastly more careful with my cocktails, I have been leaning towards perhaps trying rum again. If I do, it will be due, in rather large part, to your (and my Bronx pal Vino's) various rum cocktail videos, particularly this one and the "not a Painkiller" one (I must acknowledge I did enjoy a few of those way post-college while in the Caribbean, very near the Soggy Dollar Bar). So, thanks very much, again for your fun and informative videos, I think. :) Have a great weekend, both of you!
Love a daiquiri. I've been using Plantation 3 star, but I love their pineapple rum in one as well. El Dorado 5 makes a solid dark one. My partner made me one recently using an agricole. Not my favorite, but it was really interesting to see how different it was.
Not just Louisiana, Beaumont TX has quite a few of those spots too.... I''m more of a margarita/paloma kind of guy, so I like mine a little tarter than what they serve.
I’ve been making mine with a rich demurara and barboncourt(probably spelled that wrong) rum and I love the difference between it and a traditional daiquiri
The best rum for Daiquiri, in my humble opinion, is really close to just mixing your two choices: Foursquare Probitas/Veritas. Foursquare is the original distiller for Real McCoy, and Probitas is a blend of Barbados and Jamaican (Hampden Estate, rather than Hamilton) rums. I like making a Daiquiri as part of deciding about a new rum: Have it neat, with a drop of water, with an ice cube, and in a Daiquiri.
Enjoy National Daiquiri Day, everyone! Which rum will you be using in your daiquiri?
Plantation. Just so happened to be teaching a Daiquiri class and picked up some bottles from Binnys. Love that this video popped up the night before!
Gonna try cruzan black strap with the simple syrup recipe right now
love supporting local, the white rum i keep ion my bar is Raptor rum made up in Alberta Canada :)
Xamaica. But it's so hard not to go full tiki whenever I get started with a Daiquiri... because I can't choose a rum so I start mixing them and then, well, I have syrups and pimento dram right here...good grief.
Thanks to you, El Dorado 3 year!
“If you like rum, put it in a daquiri” … words to live by.
and ideally sit beachside, your toes in soft sand and Palm trees whispering ….. you get the vibe.😅
It has become part of my routine to check your channel every Friday to see what I’ll be drinking over the weekend! Never disappointed, cheers Anders! 🍹
Here's to a great weekend - Cheers!
Better yet, subscribe and hit the notification bell and you will be notified when the videos go up! :)
Same here!!!! Anders has the magic recipe to get the weekend planned and going!!!! Way to go Anders!!!!!
Me too!, usually, an immediate trip to the liquor store soon after….
Love the reminder to relax on the strict ingredients/ratios/serving styles. Nice work as always team & cheers to national daiquiri day! 🍹
EXACTLY!! Make it comfortable for your home, is what my auntie says when sharing any recipe.
Well, that's true, but at the same time is an election to be a classical bartender or not.
It's just a preference.
I love a good daquiri. I use 'em for a couple things: first, just to make a really simple, easy, tasty drink. But I also like to make a quick daquiri with about every new bottle of rum just because it's a great way to try the rum and get a feel for how it mixes.

I have spent way too much money building my home bar based on Anders´ videos...love it, THANK YOU! best cocktail channel ever !
I can second this! 😂 Great work you two!
Same here. 😊
Me too 🤦♂️🤷♂️

You're did it right! Such clean flavors make for the perfect drink to perfect your balance 👍 Cheers!
5:12 in.. I immediately paused the video and went into the kitchen and made a daiquiri. Three o'clock est seems like daiquiri hour to me! 😉 So good!

I’ve been making my daiquiris with Rhum agricole blanc and Clairin and they are soooo good.
I made a Grapefruit Daquiri in my last cocktail bar, used half simple syrup and half of my homemade grapefruit syrup. Turned out really well! Garnish was a dehydrated grapefruit slice
Oooh nice!
How did you make grapefruit syrup? I love grapefruit and for that reason make many zombies.

I like plantation pineapple with demarara sugar syrup
5cl rum
3cl lime
3cl sugar
But as u said works great with any rum u like
Hey Anders, I love your take on this. I have actually read through some of the old Daiquiri recipes. Some did include modifiers (I.e. a dash of grenadine, or curaçao, or maraschino, or bitters). Thank you so much, David! Really appreciate it. I'd love to try every variation of the daiquiri - it's such a good template. Enjoy your weekend with a great cocktail. Cheers!
That would be a great video, make a variety of daiquiris and have az taste test and see which is the best.
Just wanted to say that upon watching this video I tried a daiquiri with both dark rum and white rum and it was superb, thank you Anders for the idea. The richer bolder flavour of Ron Zacapa ambar 12 paired really well with the crisp smooth finish of Bacardi blanca
Those are two ends of the spectrum of rum. I'll try it.

'splash of Jamaican pot still' that's an idea! gonna try that Pete
From a fellow Chicagoan, thank you expanding my interest and trying new cocktails. Keep up it the great job

-45ml White rum (Plantation 3 Star)
-15ml Dark rum (Appleton estate 12years)
-15ml Cointreau
-20ml fresh lime juice
-20ml semi rich simple Syrup (1,5:1)
I recommend adding a little more of both Syrup and Lime (up to 5ml each depending on your limes and your preference of course), otherwise the Cointreau can be quite dominant and destroy a otherwise beautifully balanced drink. If done correctly you add an interesting dimension to this Cocktail with the Cointreau and the dark rum.
Serve up and enjoy :) cheers!
Sounds great - like a rum margarita. Great rum choices, btw!

Videos always on point. Been making both these for awhile and i still felt the need to watch the entire video. Keep up the great work!
Appreciate you watching - Cheers!
@@AndersErickson Cheers!
I've been really loving Koloa Hawaiian rums. Their dark rum is simply magical.
Totally agree, just went to Kuai and fell in love with their rum. Same with their coffee rum
I unfortunately live in Ohio, and I cannot find it anywhere. Would love to try it out, hopefully I visit another state soon that carries it!
Hmm, I have to try it!
Man I wish I could find that OXO jigger without the insane markup we have here in Europe… it sells around 40€…
That aside, Anders, you got me hooked up from the first video.
So many great quality rums out there, endless possibilities for Daiquiri flavor profiles.
My go to for a daiquiri is Veritas/Probitas (pending on location). That lil kick of Jamaican funk in the daiquiri just elevates it to another level
One of my favorite drinks - Gin, lime juice, semi-rich lavender syrup, coffee bitters (don’t overdue, meant to balance sweetness not overpower with coffee flavor)
Dark daiquiri with Appleton Estate 12 year rum has been my favorite drink this summer
One of my absolute favorites to make at home. So easy and so refreshing
Happy Friday! I can't say I've seen the dark Daiquiri before. Going to have to try this one, especially since I recently made a fresh batch of demerara syrup. Great video as always! Thanks!
Enjoy it! Cheers, Sean!
I love using an aged rum in my daiquiri. The added flavor makes them so much richer.
Daiquiri is in my top five and my girlfriend's number 1! I use 1.5oz of Plantation white rum and a half oz of Wray & Nephew overproof for some FUNK.
My go to recipe is adapted to the cocktail codex version:
1,75oz light rum (Plantation 3 Stars, it has some light jamaican funk in it)
0,25oz Clairin (makes a huuge impact)
1oz lime (opting for super lime, recipe by zack zoschke)
0,75oz 1:1 simple
Perfect Daiquiri for my taste buds.
Making both tonight! Just cause..... and why not. Cheers!
I've been making my daiquiris lately with Rhum Barbancourt Haitian White!! Light and refreshing. If I want a "rummy" rum, my go to is Probitas!
I always do a 112 daquiri with 2:1 simple. I love that sweetness. I think I've explored every single rum I own in a daquiri, and they're all fantastic. It's such a good vehicle for rums =)
it's good to drink rum cocktail this time of year. of course daiquiri is among them.
happy national daiquiri day!
Thumbs up, bro... taking the magic out of things without disenchanting them. Well done. Thumbs up!
This is what I settled on:
20 oz / 60 ml light rum
2/3 oz / 20 ml lime juice
1/3 oz / 10 ml simple syrup
I also use the semi-rich syrup. I'll also often blend white rums. My favorite house blend is as follows:
9 parts / 45 ml Bacardi Superior
2 parts / 10 ml Rhum J.M.
1 part / 5 ml Wray & Nephew
Science is the poetry of cocktails.
I love it with Smith and Cross or a split of Wray and Nephew Over proof and a standard silver rum.
I personally prefer 1:2:4 for lime:syrup:rum, but that's clearly a matter of taste. Thanks for another great video, Anders!
EDIT: Oh, and I also use a 1:1 simple syrup so that definitely has something to say too.
When a guest ask me where i watch and learn new about bartending/mixing, i always tell them to see your channel 👌 gonna try that dark daiquiri.
Cheers!
It’s Friday !!! Wuhu time for a cocktail ! Cheers from Berlin Anders
Cheers! Enjoy the weekend!
Love this channel always give me a good drink idea for the weekend. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep up the good work.
Keep doing like this Anders, you're one of the nicest and funniest guys on UA-cam!
My favorite cocktail.
My favorite recipe is;
2 oz Barbados White rum
1 oz LIme Juice
2 tsp of a homemade granulated sugar mix made of 4 parts Cane Sugar, 1 part demerara stirred with the lime juice prior to adding the rum to the mixing tin.
The Barbados White has a hint of a rum/floral note to it's taste without being sharp or sweet.
The sugar mix is from BeachBum Barry the "Tiki Historian" and owner of Latitude 29. It conveys a clean sweetness with a touch of depth to the flavor.
Watching this sipping on a raspberry daiquiri made with demerara and dark rum. Feels good
try this with 1.5oz rum (i use bacardi but only because it’s readily available in england), 0.75oz lime, 0.25oz simple syrup and 0.50oz peach schnapps or other peach liquor. It’s amazing!
I use Havana Club 3 años for daiquiris, which I find perfect. Works well in mojitos too.
Love it. Cheers Nick!
Enjoy it, Dimitar! Happy Daiquiri Day!
I use light rum, but will try dark rum, I love the sourness from the lemon or lime!!
My absolute favorite cocktail! Thank you Anders!
The Daiquiri...in is elegant simplicity it is the best cocktail there is. hands down. Also, I generally use Havanna 3 year :)
Daiquiri’s have been my favourite drink for YEARS, especially in summer!
Great video my friend. I agree it's a need-to-know drink. Interesting history as well.
Well this was a good reminder that I should make a daiquiri sometime soon, before my Cuban rum gets used up on in Cuba Libres (which are my current summertime go-to weekend sippin' drink)
I was never a fan of white/light rum. But I just tried the dark daquiri, and I really liked it. Now I'm curious about the light version!
Mmmm
Thanks Anders. I love your channel. You do such a good job.
Fully support you revisiting the world of rum, and I'm sure Vino would agree! Appreciate the comment - Cheers!
I just added a comment saying how probitas is my favorite rum of choice for a daiquiri. Glad I'm not the only one!
