Hey guys! Two months after moving to a new mall and downsizing my booth space, a bigger spot for me opened up--quite unexpectedly! It was the perfect opportunity though, so I had to say yes. Come along with me as I spend a week, shopping, painting, pricing, tagging, and finally staging my new expanded space :)
Such a positive video! So glad you got more space available to you. A little elbow grease, and thrift shopping really paid off. Everything looks great!

Thanks for the inspiration! My booth is kind of a variety of different styles and pieces. The mall owner has told me that people love my booth, but I basically break even every month, so I want them to love it more! LOL! I'm trying to find a way to make it more inviting, so I'll be scouring pics and videos of other peoples booths. Yours are always helpful! As far as inventory tracking, my hubby started an Excel spreadsheet when we shared a booth, so I've kept that going for mine. I label my household items with an H, then a number, decor items with a D, then a number, etc. It helps track easier, and the cashier uses my numbers in their system too!
I feel like it's the mall owners really making the money. Unless you have really high-end stuff or lots of traffic, the vendors are probably only covering rent. It sucks, but I still like to sell.
Very nice !!! I started a project of noticing how lamps and art are displayed on a piece of furniture. Furniture + lamp + art.--- I started a file with web links of images. --- People don't switch out furniture, lamps or art very often - not like a centerpiece or flower arrangement on the mantle. So how do you sell those 3 things combined into a seasonal vignette? Or a themed vignette? --- Go into a store, and look for items for an entrance hall vignette, for example. Glance at the tables to see if there is a console table. Then glance at the lamps. Then glance at the art. What kind of potential do you see? Spring, summer fall, winter? Western Hemisphere or Eastern Hemisphere? Europe or Asia? Romantic of rugged? --- You just did everything I had imagined !! I give you an A+. It was like magic. You must have read my mind. The colors and style of the desk, lamp and geometric artwork create a wonderful vignette, without even have to make a statement! --- Enhancing a display with light is one of those Feng Shui techniques to brighten up an area, so you really nailed that on this one.
Loved this video! I've been a subscriber for a few months and really enjoy all of your content. I have a space in an antique mall, but am new to the process so I really appreciate all of the info that you share. Thanks for all of your hard work that goes into your videos!
I enjoyed the video immensely .. relating to your journey has helped so much. The desk is a real stand out on the wall. The blankets were the perfect find. Being in the business I know how it is to adapt to our circumstances. I thought I was the only one who washes things before I add to my booth space 😊 ..
How do you fight the temptation to source more items because they’re available for the picken!??? I have formed a relationship with an estate clean out company. And wow! They have some amazing contracts where I have found serious treasures. I’m currently at approximately 400 items. I keep a detailed spreadsheet of my inventory. Sitting here ready to drive out for one more Estate sale clean out - sourcing. Do I go or just say no? 😮. Your bigger booth and current traction of sales is an encouragement to all of us. I’m doing my first Canton Vendor show at the Trade Days - nervous! Your Chanel has been INVALUABLE - I’ve learned a ton from you. ❤
Hi, i know this video was posted awhile back, but I have thought about doing something similar with putting old images in a frames for resale- but I've wondered if there are any rules about that- like copyright stuff, etc.
I think if you are taking book pages or existing prints you have, no issue at all :) If you are printing off new things, try TheGraphicsFairy.com as a source for a ton of copyright free graphics :)
Your new space looks amazing! Thanks for sharing. I keep a very detailed inventory list with each item having a unique number, day it was put in, day sold, net cost plus what you mentioned. Oh, also take a photo of tag on the item in case I can’t remember what it was. Has been a huge help but is a lot of work. BTW, I draw and paint barn quilts and was wondering how much you charge for the beige one in this booth. (I know Sonnet charges about half the going rate that I’ve found in my research, and hers are complex and multi colored)……again, thanks for sharing and I can’t wait to follow more of your journey.
I love this style of video Melanie! This was awesome to watch.😌 Also those blankets are amazing!! I love those horse blanket style blankets😍 Do you mind sharing for much you sold it for??
