Hope you like Calgary! We moved there at the end of 2017, from the UK. Unfortunately I couldn't get work because the economy was in a slump - oil and gas town and after the 2014 crash no one was hiring. So we moved to Vancouver in April 2018 and I got work straight away. I'd never lived anywhere like Calgary, with a -40 winter, but I found it fascinating, once I got the right gear to wear outdoors. The best thing I found about Calgary was the endless sunshine - like 300+ days a year! Yup, it's cold but at least it's dry - unlike Vancouver for 6 months of the year.

@@Celinelikedion I never lived in Toronto, but I hear the winter's are pretty bad. I think you'll find Calgary more pleasant/drier. We actually moved from Vancouver in 2021, to New Zealand (my home country). We were there till last month, but my Canadian partner missed Vancouver, so we've just moved back. Vancouver is a crazy place in a lot of ways, but it's hard to beat the summer here.

I just got back from visiting family there. I couldn’t see myself moving there just because of the wonky colder weather. Also whatever you do, do not move downtown- it is really rough. I literally almost got attacked just coming out of hmart!😱😣 Anyways I hope your experience is better and I wish you well in your new adventure!

I don't want to jump ahead of the story though. First I must say I LOVE your Back to the future T-Shirt. I'm a big fan of Retro Futurism so the images spark joy. I composed original music to an animated short that's similar to your shirt. Very cool. Calgary looks like my dream location. I love snow capped mountains and would like to live among them one day. Your Christmas vlog is going to be beautiful. I can already see it. Calgary is west so you're actually going to be closer to your parents right? I remember your parents from a vlog and they seem fun, energized and full of life. 5 Day trip huh? Sounds like an East Coast to West Coast drive in the states. I moved to Edmonton from Toronto Dec, 2022.I lived in a 1 bedroom basement in Toronto for $1300, now in Edmonton I live in a condo with underground parking in a 1+den for $1250. Welcome to Alberta!
C, this is great news on so many levels. TO chews up and spits people out, and I’m glad you saw the light. I thought for sure that it would be VCR. But OMG you are moving to my province, yay! Once you realize how quickly you’ll get ahead with better housing, lower taxes, no bs woke politics and real opportunity, you’ll never go back. So happy for you! 💜
Would be curious to know what rent is like in Calgary compared to Toronto! I'm heading back to Toronto for the summer but am thinking about doing a few months in Calgary in between travels at some point
based on what I've noticed, the average rent is still considerably lower than Toronto, but there are areas in higher demand where costs are comparable. hope you enjoy your summer in Toronto! 💓

The memories of the scenery, majestic mountains, crystal blue lakes🏞 etc still remain fresh in my mind. I have also been to Winnipeg and stayed with a penpal for a while ( sadly we lost touch). I wanted to move to Alberta. I have heard that it gets quite cold over there.❄ Moving out is indeed such hard work, especially the decluttering part, on what to keep and throw out. Ar least you will now have a bigger closet👍. Regarding the plants, I am sure you will find a way to take them with you. I am attached to my plants. I don't know how I would handle the unexpected viewings. It would frustrate me a lot.😖 And I am so obsessed with your t-shirt ( you know I am a pop culture fan).🤩 I cannot wait to see more of your moving vlog, cheers🐨🦘

When we moved across the country, we kept a few sentimental plants and drove them with us💕 safe travels!
