If ever you make it across the pond i'll take you there to meet him, you guys will get along great and he lives in a beautiful part of the country too ~Peace~
A true marvel to behold! Love Martin and his subtle hilarious jokes, really good stand-up material. Not to mention his skill with tools and incredible knowledge of wood. Thank you so much for a really wonderful time 💗
Superb Zed as always. Great to meet Martin and learning so much. I like the way you set the tone and kept Martin on his toes from the very start ;) Thank you for sharing. Paul :)
I'm laid up in bed at the moment, post surgery, and your videos give me a great deal of comfort. What better way to heal than continuously learning from fine craftsmen ? Thank you for all the videos you share
this is my second full time thru the vid and the take away was the handling of the tools. Great advice for people who want to do this long term. "spread the load"
As the old saying goes, "I love work I do.... I could watch it all day!" "wink"... It seams that the sharp blades are more than half the battle but the skills are a joy to see, and these creations are truly beautiful.... Superb insight into these traditional crafting skills as always Zed.... Well done and thank-you for this brother. :-)
Great information and teaching. Thank you for sharing Martin's skills with Zed and Martin. I have been wanting to find some burls and carve my own Kuksa and spoons. With the awesome video, I am confident that I could that now. I have carved a few spoons already and am ready to move on to new things. Btw, we have arrested Philip now. LOL I live the neighboring state of Ohio, next to Indiana. I think it is great that Philip was able to get ou some wood that is not native to your area.
Superloyal Jane I live in the US in WA state and cherry orchards are all around us. that was the last cherry tree my parents had left in their yard, out of nine original trees. But, yes I will try and do it justice.
I come accross a lot of burr with my work when felling trees. Amazing to just cut them open and have a look inside. Thanks for the video man, very much appreciated.
What a Wonderful video, Zed. Thanks so much to you and Martin for putting this together. I will be saving this video to use as a tutorial on my own carving adventures. Been following you for a long time. Buy far one of my favorite channels and most anticipated video notifications. Cheers mate, from Oklahoma, USA.
LOVE LOVE LOVE ... found i was mesmerized as great grandfather whittled long ago & i was i LOVE with him .... GREAT SHOW! burl Wood appreciation = LOVE
Zed, I addressed Martin but maybe I should have addressed you, because (you are the man). Thank you so much for your videos, Allright-Allright-Allright.
Learning alot here thanks, was splitting some wood a week ago, And I remember watching a video of someone carving a spoon, and I just went on and tried to make a spoon, and was happy with my result. Ordering some propper gear soon and gonna try out this in a while. First im gonna make alot of spoons :)
Really enjoyable vid and very interesting, thanks lots Zed. I do like watching people do their thing when they really know their stuff, hope you're keeping well, thanks again mate, cheers.
Zed I'm SO GLAD Martin let you film his wonderful work!! He is truly a master and also an excellent teacher. I picked up so many axe tips from him. One habit I have to break myself of is moving the axe in different directions, rather than keeping it vertical and moving the wood around). I've mostly just been practicing on wood scraps making spoons and believe me, most of them are little disasters!😆 I think that if I sent you a picture of them it would make you physically ill, haha...But Martin had such clearly-explained carving tips and also the common mistakes people make. I have always loved burled/burred wood but I've never actually seen it being carved. It really is surprising inside, and also I didn't know that it tends to change shape a bit as it dries out. Thanks for a super video, Zed! You did an amazing job filming, and you also asked some really good questions! Cheers! Stella
Kudos to you for at least giving it a go Stella regardless of how you feel your spoons come out, even for me it doesn't come naturally and have to work hard at it. I really appreciate your kind words and for watching ~Peace~

Another great video Zed. Since Martin is an expert in carving from burls, I wonder if you and he would ever consider doing a video on the subject of preventing/repairing the inevitable cracks that come with the territory.
Zed, what's up man??? Hope all is well.....great video, I missed this one somehow. Just moved and settled in the Chicago area...got to find some woods....take care.
