I used a yarn available in Cambodia, not prime quality, as it all comes from either China, Vietnam, or Thailand. I combined a polyester yarn with variegated wool, with a crochet #5 or 8mm. 10 rounds. In fact, one can choose whatever yarn and adapt the crochet hook. I really ❤️ the unusual pattern for a bag. I don't particularly like granny squares, but I will use them more often to create different shapes for my projects. Thank you so much for the inspiration

Thank you so much for including seaming on the strap!! I'm making a bunch of different granny square bags for my friends for xmas and this tutorial has made it so easy!!
Took me a few days but I only worked on a little bit at a time. Each square took me about 25 minutes. I love how it turned out!! Thank you for sharing the pattern, you made it very easy to follow. I think I want to try and sew on a liner on the inside so nothing falls through the holes.
It can be done! I have since made other bags that I sewed a lining for. Just get some fabric and measure to fit. I used a SEWING MACHINE to attach mine. It was a scary moment but it worked!
Love this thank you, I'm going to try a 4th square to make a flap/closed bag with button to close. Not sure how the structure will hold up, if not il stick to the 3. About to start sewing! Great tutorial ❤
Beautiful bag and great tutorial ❤ I actually SC my strap to the bag at both ends. Makes it stronger. I also put 2 sc into each end stitch on the ends of the strap also to make it stronger!
I made this. I used orange and blue. I also did a border. It is so cute. I will be doing some more in different colours and I also want to do it using the solid granny square. I will also be making ruffled bucket hats to go with them. Thank you for sharing this super easy and extremely lovely pattern.
Mine turned out pretty good. Your instructions were great. I guess it did take about six hours. I was surprised that it took so long since it was granny squares, but they are big granny squares and I think the weight of yarn is not quite a #4. Also, I used an F hook, which is smaller than recommended, but I was trying not to line the bag so I wanted, the granny squares close together. Thank you for taking the time to film and post this.
I am an absolute beginner, I made 3 small granny squares as my first project and wasn’t sure what to do with them. I saw a video on tiktok about this type of bag, and immediately found your tutorial on here!! I finished in about 2 days, but I made my squares and strap just a bit smaller haha. I used a 5 mm hook and 4 ply acrylic yarn! (Might size down in hook size in the future as it kept getting caught, not sure if it was my fault or the hook’s!!)
Thats awesome!! Its a great feeling to have a nice finished project. You can do this kind of bag with ANY type of granny square. Congrats on your first project
this is my first real project besides some bracelets and it took me about 3 days all together but it came out great as a gift for my girlfriend. the only thing I really had an issue w was getting the middle of the v on the bag to connect right
Made it in a couple of days (with interruptions), working afternoons mostly. So very easy to make. I sewed a button on and a crochet chain to close it as I find the opening too wide for safety's sake.
I had to subscribe after finishing this bag. Each square took me about 1.5 hours each but I'm not a fast crocheter. I'm not super fond of my strap but it'll do.
Love it. Only need to sew the strap on. I used autumn colors to keep in the retro vibe of the 70s. Considering adding a flower to one of the peaks. Thank you for the pattern 🙂
@@Dominique3986 if you try again maybe go down a hook size? You could also put a lining. I suggest a rectangle lining that lines up with the open point.

Aloha! I missed your comment with your hook size. I just used the recommended hook size. It took me two days as I was determined to finish it. It came out so lovely. I do have a question, though. How do you prevent items from falling out?

I don't have a written pattern myself but maybe on pinterest you can find one?? Sorry about that. Good luck! I am planning to do a lining very soon for this bag
I like this bag because having a completed project is so satisfying. Joining 3 squares is not so scary. Sometimes I avoid projects that are too much assembling
I’m confused on attaching the 3rd piece- should it be rough side on top or pretty side facing up. Wanna make sure before I start attaching my pieces together. I couldn’t tell by the video. Love this bag so far. Thanks
Hi, I’m a beginner crocheter and I was using your pattern and your video for making this bag. This was my first time making such a bag and it was actually enjoyable but I have a little problem and if you don’t mind, I’m gonna share it here. maybe it would be some other peoples problem too Well actually as I saw in the video your bag looks like you know a bit more stable and you know somehow safe to put things in it but my bag the parts that it’s gonna be open. It’s like a bit loose and I don’t feel safe putting things in it. It’s a bit like the upper part is a bit loose and bigger I don’t know why cause I actually did what you said so can you help me with that like I wanna know where did I go wrong thank you.
I think the solution is to add a liner. I will try to make a video about how to do that. Sew a piece of fabric to fit on the inside. I will attempt to make a video about this, this weekend
In the process of making this bag! Can't wait to see how it turns out. I am looking for various projects to make and sell. Would I be able to use your patterns to make items and sell them as long as I give you credit?
the yarn you used was smart because i did three squares all different colors and despite being the same yarn they turned out to be different sizes ! i guess this could also have been avoided by having the same amount of different colors in all squares
I learned the hard way to match up my yarn. Different colours are fine but the weight can vary brand to brand. I find some brands like caron, bernat and red heart can have the same weight on their tags, but still be slightly different in size and this can make a mess! I woild say try your best to stick to a brand in a project to avoid trouble

Good question. Don't cut the yarn if you don't have to. Keep going. I really just "did it". Just fold the squares into triangles and do the best you can. I made this video a year ago and I wish in retrospect I showed the sewing better. I was new to filming. It might help to just stitch markers to hold the edges together...
@@MrsStewartCC Tysmmm! Mine looks soo pretty! And you did a GREAT job doing the filming btw!;D
