    Superb footage- so valuable, and brings back a lot of memories of when I was a teenager, didn't quite have access to the gear so I could film myself- and regretted it- but less so now that I can watch your videos, they are the ones I would have filmed if I could have done, so thanks very much- look forward to all of the new ones, esp AC EMUs

      Thank you. It was seeing others cine film from the 1960s that inspired me to get a cine camera. That only lasted a year or so before i managed to get a video camera, on HP at that. I didn't want to wait and save up as i would have missed so many things that were being rapidy withdrawn at the time. I'm pleased you (and many others!) enjoy the films i took mainly for my own pleasure, it's nice to think they get a global audience now! And yes, plenty more AC EMUs to come.....

    Yes think I spotted a class 307 DMPO that used to work Southend to Liverpool st parked behind the class 92 and a couple PMOS from class 302/304/ 305/308 in the sidings.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus

      Yes, there was some class 307 EMU stock that worked the GE as well as other GE EMUs. The class 307s had the driving coaches removed to become Propelling Control Vehicles for working the Res trains into the Royal Mail Terminal at Stonebridge Park.

    Did anyone else spot the old BR palvans? I wonder what happened to them.

    We were quite a sight jostling on the narrow New St platform for 33051 and 116 in 1997😊

    Did you also do the trip ti Kineton to see the Nightstar rolling stock, which I believe was eventually shipped to Canada.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  4 роки тому +1

      No, this was the only trip in here that i have done. And i didn't get round all the stock then properly due to time constraints as we had a trip around the site behind 2 Army locos.

    I think old EMU's like the ones in the sidings used to run through Timperley before Metrolink took over.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  4 роки тому

      Yes, the Bury Line class 504s were similar, BR's standard EMU design from the early 1960s.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  4 роки тому

      And the 304s which ran through Timperley, getting confused with the Bury line which also was taken over by Tramlink.

    Did you see the 502 stock? Was it there then?

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  11 місяців тому +1

      No, never saw a 502 but there were 507s & 508s there even though Merseyrail said they was no extra stock available to increase services......

      @@Listenerandlearner870 Unfortunately we didn't have too long to look round the stored stock. But we did a circuit of the base which was different.

    those were the days, when you could get close up and personal to a moving train, that just would not happen nowadays, everyone would be behind a bright orange fence, a marshall (safety officer) posted every 5 metres in a hi viz jacket (in fact everyone would be made to wear a hi viz jacket) giving everyone an evil stare and bollocking them if they dare touch the fence, and at least 20 metres away from the nearest piece of railway infrastructure

      Looks like Mk1 Footex stock - If you'd seen how they got treated by some of the 'fans'. No point in letting them trash good stock. Enthusiasts didn't usually tear them up but I guess you got what you were given.

    Great video. Pity there is no commentary for us non-geeks to understand the point of it all.

    • @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus
      @SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus  4 роки тому +1

      Basically it was a day out on an old train to have a run around a millitary storage depot, see the stored stock there and then have a run round some freight only lines on our way back to Paddington. An enthusiast's special rather than an excursion train to visit a place (ie York ect).
