Hey mate long time viewer of your vids. I’ve been umming & ahhing about doing a carpentry apprenticeship for years. Happy to say that I’m 4 weeks into my carpentry apprenticeship & im loving it! Your videos have been a huge help in me taking the leap. I’m 35 years old & really believe I’ve finally found what I love doing! Build on brother!!
Congrats man on taking the big step. It's not an easy decision that is for sure. Everything working out for you so far money wise? (if you dont mind my asking). did you end up applying for the Trade Support Loan? Certainly, assisted us some months. Good to hear you enjoy it mate. Build on Legend!!
@@midlifecarpentry hey yeah the money side was a big speed bump in the decision. Having 3 young kids & a mortgage, you could imagine the stress. But luckily enough, like you; we were fortunate enough to be in a comfortable position financially that we could afford for me be on apprentice wages. we were able to clear any debts (except mortgage) & have a lil bit of savings just incase. no I haven’t applied for the trade support loan but I intend to eventually. MEGT still haven’t been out on site yet to sign me on lol so hopefully that all happens soon.
Oh & if you ever get a chance, could you elaborate more on the purchasing of your tools under $300 before end of financial year & then making the bigger purchases once you get your tax return. Cheers mate
G'day mate, love your video's. Im up in Cairns too & have been thinking of doing my Cert 3 in Carpentry as well. Which education provider did you go trough..?
I am doing some research on it now. Have had a Handyman business for the last 12years, so I am hoping to get a bit of RPL for that so I don't have to do the full 4 years. Are you going trough TAFE..?@@midlifecarpentry
