- Here is an in depth guide on my signature drum lick! I've been really skeptical about posting this since there are many things I could do better, but I might as well post it for everyone to see and then I can learn from my mistakes! Enjoy! Contact and Gear listed below:

Thanks a lot David, Tried your "Signature Lick" on a gig last night and GOT FIRED! You didn't say anything about NOT using it on ballads! I hope you're happy now!
This comment is just AWESOME! Love it!
😂
David, you have a tremendous gift for not only playing the drums beautifully at an advanced level, but you have a wonderful enthusiasm and charisma that is the greatest gift of all. You can teach someone lots of things, but that natural charisma is one thing that can't be taught. I have been playing drums professionally for 40 years and have been around the block a few times. You are right up there with the big dudes. Your marketing skills and videos are excellent and you have a really great love for the instrument that really comes through...again...that enthusiasm. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with the world. Bravo, Paisano!
SO clean! I'd love if you did a snare tuning video, it's so sick.
Aye! Thanks fam! I totally would man, but I have zero method for tuning a snare.... Tbh... I typically just crank it as high and cracking as possible... Hahahaha
Those licks are one thing.. but that deep pocket is a whole other story. Keep it up!!
Why this channel doesn't have more subscribers is beyond me..
Make more vids!!! I've watched this multiple times and have been going through these as a daily routine/warmup. You're a great drummer, keep it up. 👍🏻
This is my first drum lesson. You helped me develop some appreciation for drums. Thanks.
Beautifully done sir. Really brilliant.👏👏👏☮️
Ok seriously, how much have you had to drink?? Why do I get the feeling it's like 3 am and your feeling diddle. 😁
NBT 3 I thought the same thing the minute he started talking
I have only recently started following and I thought the same thing.... but if he is drunk and still playing like that .....well.....just wow
@@BEElaine1008 nope, he is the real deal! Amazing chops.
@@nbt3663 Oh I know that...,he just doesn’t sound that way now...speech wise....maybe he was in a weird mood 😆
dude this is so epic I can't stop watching
Just learned this lick! It is so sick! Having fun sticking it in some songs right now! Thanks David!
Your snare always sounds so perfect!
Great licks beautifully executed!
David ! I'm sending this to my thirteen year old grandson who has just passed his drumming Grade 6 in England and hopes he follows you from now on !
He's not even trying to be the best drum teacher ever he just IS for some strange reason, know one else could have taught me this kinda lick.. maybe Gabe or something but damn.... SUSCRIBE
Loved this lesson. Great job!
My new favorite drummer.
Awesome tip David thanks great drumming
Such an awesome drum lick... Love yourteaching style too... Keep up the great work...
Thanks david !!! Nice video!! Gotta try it !!
You’re a really nice drummer
That snare man im e r e c t
YOU SIR... HAVE JUST CHANGED MY LIFE!!
What? You figured away to kill time by taking a few shots whole doing the laundry, uh... at 3am? 😀
That FRLLKK sounds so clean dude
Great video man!
That RlRllK sounds so sick!
Amazing lesson!!!!! Your good!!
Amazing !
Great lesson, David! Very tasty stuff. I'm self taught, and though I've been playing for 35-ish years (in multiple groove rock, metal, punk and pop bands)... I've never really figured out how drummers get those super fast, tasty rolls. I usually rely on double bass quad fills to do the trick. It's effective... but it's limited, and can be a little boring after a while. What's funny is... Chris Adler from Lamb of God uses quad rolls almost exclusively, and he's one of the best, popular metal drummers around. So there's some credence to this technique in this genre. However... having something like this in my arsenal (if I can actually execute it at my age) would be fantastic. Thank you!
Thanks David!
Love it!
this is infinitly helpful
Nice well played
Thanks for the lesson! :)
Awsome, thanks!
Awesome lesson!!!!!!! I love it! Please tell me how you get 16th note triplets so well. I struggle with playing them up to speed or in tunes. Please help! Thanks
Muchas gracias máster saludos desde Colombia
espectacularrr
I subscribed bucause I can feel your passion :-)
Been inspired by Tony Williams, Peter Erskine, Carter Beauford, Will Kennedy.. and now David Cola! Isn’t that cool! :))
Great lesson bro! You should cover "She's American" from the new 1975 album!
FUEGO🔥🔥
Sick! Can't wait tp try this baby out. Thanks a lot! :)
Yo! I'm glad you enjoyed! Hit me up when you get it! Would love to see some more variations!
+DavidColaDrums Will do!
Awesome. Thx!
SEI TROPPO FORTE DAVID COLA ❤❤❤❤❤
The flam bit sounds great for endings.
Great lick man! You do change the note value after your first demonstration at 90bpm. Either demo 1 is 45bpm or from demo 2 and on, you play 32’note triplets. Digging it regardless
Great 🥁🔥🥁
David looks like the guy in a movie that has a perfect life and then has to do something out of his comfort zone to help someone else
What model sticks are you using? I couldn’t find it in the descriptions
Awesome vid! What's the song at the end of the video?
hello explain to me how you play the paradiddle with the snare and the hi-hat (berkeley2) you tube video 17.39 thank you very much
Next time I drum this is what I'm learning. Luckily 6 stroke roll is one of my main rudiments already haha
Excellent breakdown. Thanks! Btw, are those 13" hats or is the cam just making them appear smaller? Drum on man!!
So sweet
curious, are you using a double pedal?
myy gosh dude, you're hilarious!
sweeet lick too, I'll give it a rip!
Thanks!
you are good drummer tq..
Is there a pdf for download?
Do a lesson on how you personally mix your drums!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeee
What kind of stick do you have?^^
Foot cam? Heel up or down ?
nice lick! minor detail: where you demonstrate the full lick @ 90 bpm, it is actually 45 bpm considering you are playing in sixtuplets.
I've had some favorite drummers in my day. Starting with Kieth Moon, Bill Bruford, and of course that crazy cat ...
Barney Rubble. But now it's Cola. I'm really not sure the music of today can handle your tap'n.
I already suscribed and followed u on instagram
U rock
Bravissimo
nice idol ❤️ im from philippines 🙏
where can I get the pdf sheet music for this lick?
3:13.... 3:56.... This is actually pretty freakin' cool. And useful.
That's sweet
If Austin Powers played the drums, lol. I mean that in a good way, I love that dude. Great Drummin'!
5:00 check out my hi-hat,has a mind of its own
You r a beast
Just learned this holy shit this is a hard one hahah
Good goly that snare
David! Turn some heat on in there!
dang!
Have you been drinking ?
Hehehehehe do his sticks move fast??
But can you play Mandatory Suicide?
Cola that name make me want to go to get a pop
That was cool. I feel reasonably certain there was some chemical influence at play as well.
LMBO at 1:48!
6:28
Dang that snare got a lot of reverb lol
David your a nut but i like you...Awsom skills my friend Awsom skills👌👍
But what is your
_S i g n a t u r e C o l a ?_
This lick is much better than Coca Cola.
(think kinks here)

Drumeo need to employ you
Calo
Them headphones tho
he, he he...played it in a trade over a standard...
Ok so let's call it the Cola Tripple... uh shuffle??
The Cola Fizz?
That frustrated me. I'll have to spend an hour a day for a week to play that clean. You're as good as any of the top cats on here, or better. I'm saying you, or Orlando Drummer? Battle? And you were only getting cruise ship gigs not too long ago? Do you start to feel all your licks are just "tricks"? I think you're gonna be just fine!
An hour a day for a week? This guy has trained 6 hours a day for 2 years + thousands of other hours, so you shouldn't be frustrated :) There is no talent, there is a very, very very VERY very hard and steady work behind a player as good as David Cola :)
Sounds like someone from family guy
This is not a six-stroke-roll.. its paradiddlediddle... six stroke roll has different note value for these 2 accents..
Intro (drumming) and outro music menu thing. SOLID
Verbal intro goofy funny ehh ?! BUT that video was so plasma man. Like id say it was solid but it just needs to be confusing and another state of matter.
Haha bro, because of how much I broke this down. You should be able to do it just from your 3-4 years of concert snare playing!
+DavidColaDrums Ah I guess what I said wasn't very clear. The video was cool I just decided to say it in some goofy way. And I think you over predict how bad I was at snare. But never the less SICK VID
stop confusing me bb
but thank you ;)
Wait, who the fuck is David Cola?
Cola? That isn't a real name right?😅
You are a great drummer really and i live your content but seriously you dont call something your signature thing yourself, that's supposed to stem from other people calling it your signature move. No offense intended and love your vids.
