    As a massive vampire fan it was an incredible film .

    Was very sad at the end

    • @JBreaz
      @JBreaz 2 роки тому

      I think he may have infected his son. He was able to use the medicine to stave off the disease, but once his son got infected he probably only contained him poorly. Probably was a recent infection like the people on the plane. realistically the man was unable to kill his own son, and used the medicine on himself because he had knowledge of the virus and how it worked. better to keep the info and stay alive than use up more meds on a feral vamp. ultimately it'd have resulted in both going feral. this way he bought more time to try to save his son, or cure the disease. who knows who that man even was. maybe he was a scientist that basically had no choice but to move to the forest.

      I don't think there is one correct way to depict vampires. They are fictional creatures, so they can be created many different ways. I actually think if vampires did exist, it would be to their advantage to be in control of their instincts and be able to fit in with humanity. That would make them more successful predators, and be harder to detect. If the vampires in this movie or 3O Days of Night walked down the street, they would be easily recognized and people would run. If the vampires from Interview with the Vampire or Dracula walked down the street, they could blend in and not stand out. The vampires in 30 Days of Night or The Strain would have to live in their own world, separate from the human world. They would have to live a completely underground existence. Unless, they decided to make a move to overthrow humanity and replace humans as the dominant species on earth, and use them as merely a food source, like in The Strain.

    After Nadia drinks, she starts to turn feral. The son vampire had already attacked her husband and drank so its likely that he was in that feral state because of that. I think because he was younger, its likely that he hadnt quite learned how to control himself like his dad had, leading to him attacking the husband.

    i belive the key is blood consumption if a vampire feeds rarely and keeps there blood intake low plus using the medicine then vampiric mutation is incontroll and stable but once they start consuming large amounts of blood within a short time it fuels the mutation rate into overdrive.
    so the less blood a vampire drinks means the more human they will appear and think.

(the movie, not the creature) I'll also point out the vamps mutate more progresively..nadia's face in the last scene was radically different than in the beginning or even midpoint of the film. while some of the newborn vamps still had hair, i bet they'd lose it over time

    I took Nadia's hair loss as due to her length of time with Vampirism, not her treatment, as she has had hers for years. I suspect the older vampire she encounters in the cellar of the house in the woods had been a vampire for some time, as well.

    Actually, it more closely resembles a mix of Lymphomia and a cancerous legion disease that is spreading through the Tazmanian Devil population.
    Cancer cells function a lot like stem cells, only with aberrant haux characteristics that cause structural abnormalities called "tumors", but SOME rare types of tumors actually produce specific tissues like teeth, hair, and so on. It is technically possible for a blood-born cancer to nest inside lymphocytes, and start causing structural changes as those lymphocytes begin overwriting haux expression in their associated organs to match the new template introduced by the cancer cells.
    The reason cancer is not a communicable disease is the same reason why organ donors need to be carefully matched: tissue rejection. And yet the Tazmanian Devil situation shows that, given time and small enough sample size, it IS possible for a cancer to become transmissible by finding a common cellular gateway marker and hijacking it. Since the cancer can spread so fast, I think it is like the ACE (or other immunological) marker, because this would retard the body's ability to fight off the infection.
    Finally - chemotherapy, whole-body radiation and bone marrow replacement therapy are how you treat systemological cancers, like lymphomia. And that is the precise treatment discussed in the show (and might actually WORK too!).
    Now: do the vampires from the 2013 "Dracula" show! A long-forgotten gem.

      I am a critical care doctor... Almost none of this is true. Not trying to be a jerk but... Like... Not even close.
      The reason cancer isn't infectious is because it isn't. It's like saying he reason a snake is a reptile is because it doesn't have muscular lips. Yes that's true they don't, but its not why they are classed as reptiles. Cancer isn't infectious because it doesn't have any of the mechanical or biochemical capabilities to penetrate another organism, evade its defenses, and make use of the new environment. By your logic the flu can't be infectious, because our bodies mount an immune response.
      It is lymphoma, not lymphomia lol.
      Cancer cells do not magically become intracellular. You say you have a biochem degree... Honestly man id ask for your money back.
      "Systemological" is also not a word. "Systemic" is what you are looking for.
      Again not trying to be a jerk, but when you go around saying stuff like this and using big (and made up) words and talking about advanced education, ppl can be forgiven for believing you. Please. We have a hard enough time dealing with misinformation from those with malicious intent. Someone just making words and physiology up as they go makes our job harder.
      Not meant as an insult or with disrespect. Just... Read a bit before spouting off man.

    • @Strutinan
      @Strutinan 2 роки тому +4

      @@nsparacino you must have missed out a LOT on infectious agents classes, because stuff like the tasmanian devil-transmissible cancer *that I mentioned* are case studies in WHY cancer is not NORMALLY transmissible. It is an EDGE CASE that exemplifies why it doesn't USUALLY happen. Btw, cancer is "cancer" because it can chemically hijack vascular systems to get enough blood to continue its runaway growth, if it had NO interaction with other cells then it would starve, lol. That's why some cancers can be fought via directed vascular infection, using a less-dangerous disease to kill off the excess blood vessels, thus shrinking the associated tumor. There's even studies under way about using EM-excited microparticles to shred blood vessels in inoperable tumors, to then flush them out...exciting stuff!
      "Systemic" means "an entire interconnected subset". "Systemological" means "PERTAINING TO an entire interconnected subset". It's like the difference in meaning between "logic" and "logical": subtle but important.
      As far as "lymphoma/lymphomia", blame auto-incorrect for THAT one, and I didn't catch the one letter difference on my 3am quick scan before bed, oh darn, lol. As for why I used lymphocyte-based cancer as my proposal for "vampirism", I think my logic there was pretty sound. We ARE talking about a human-based variation of the tasmanian devil contagious cancer, of course I *KNOW* that such a cancer for humans doesn't REALLY exist, lol.
      YOU are a trauma doctor, if I have a gaping gunshot wound I'd trust you to patch me up. *I'M* an immunologist, if you catch something then I'm the guy to flush it out. We both share SOME interconnected skill sets, but I'd no more trust you to treat a patient with an inoperable malignant glioblastoma (NASTY way to die, if the TREATMENT doesn't kill you!), than I hope YOU would trust ME to perform an emergency splenectomy!
      I think I'll keep my degree, lol.

    Thank you for making these videos. I've seen most of these movies/series, and it's nice to revisit them on your channel. I think I caught the one you did on 30 Day of Night a few months back because it popped up on my feed (and it's one of my favorite vampire movies), but I've been watching through many of these while I'm working on a project. I was also quite gratified with Blood Red Sky as well, as if had me quite riveted to the screen when I watched it, and I'm happy to see these unique takes on the vampire lore, and a move away from the romanticizing and metaphorical defanging of the vampire creature that had been previously done.
    I don't know if you've watched either of these, but there is also V Wars (only one season was produced through Netflix), and The Passage, which was on Fox. I didn't like V Wars as much as The Passage (which was based on a trilogy of novels), but both of them have similar takes of vampirism as infectious diseases. There is also the Dracula limited series on Netflix, which was an interesting and brutally violent retelling of the Dracula story.

    If she didn't have prescription for the drugs that she stole from the old guy in the basement, how did she get it on the plane? And I'm guessing the doctor she was on her way to see in America, knows nothing about vampirism and he thinks she has leukemia, or something, which really makes no sense. No cancer doctor is going to diagnose you over the phone or something, and then tell you to come for them for treatment, when he doesn't even really know what she has. That whole premise makes no sense at all. And during that video call with the doctor, all he was showing her was a CT scanner. I know, I have to get MRIs and CT scans every few months because I am currently going through chemotherapy. I wish I just had vampirism.....
