Suo Tempore means "in its [own] time" if you ever needed a definitive answer. Suo means His or its, and Roman languages all have the expression "Everything in its own time". A dying person would say "It's my time", so the only context that fits is this quote. Everything happens for a reason, in its own time.
Watched Cronos about 20 years ago and I liked this take on the vampire genre. A more intimate focus on the transformation of the man who refused in the end to let go of his humanity and died surrounded by his family. FYI: Lot 36 wasn’t an episode directed by Guillermo Del Toro, it was directed by Guillermo Navarro. Del Toro produced the series, but he wasn’t the director of any episode.
The child in the movie never speaks. When he was about to bite her, she finally said "Granpa" and that snapped him out of that trance and pushed him to break the device.
@@TheThejack521The film is older than the anime and the manga didn't circulate a lot in Mexico at the time, problaby both authors developed the idea independently.
What has always intrigued me is that this was Del Toro's first movie, but he could cast Ron Perlman un It. According to Perlman he couldn't get any role after the Beauty and the Beast TV series until Guillermo hired him, but that doesn't explain how a Hollywood actor and a rookie Mexican director came in contact.
Kinda reminds me of Warhammer fantasy origin of vampires. Basically their equivalent of Ancient Egypt had one Pharaoh who was ridiculously good at being a Pharaoh. Settra, And he accrued so much ridiculous amounts of wealth and power in a world with magic that before he died. He started a whole Cult dedicated to unlocking the secret to immortality. Bing batta boom, about a millennium later. The son of a different Pharaoh. Whom is a member of the Mortuary Cult. Catches some elves. Becomes a powerful necromancer. Dies, ain't really vibing with death, so he possesses his own dead corpse. Goes a lil insane. Starts writing down what he's learned about life and death. Later, some Europeans find these writing. Misinterpret it. Do discover a warped version of immortality. Become proto-vampires. Decide they ain't really vibing with it either. One tries to contact the author of the books they discovered through magical means. Only to get literally throttled Darth Vader style from half way across the planet. And the rest decide to leave it alone. And just be content with sudo-immortality at the cost of chowing down on the occasion peasants. And that's where vampires come from in Warhammer fantasy.
Hey man, thanks for this. The lore alone may make me try something besides 40k. I have a question, is the fantasy lore the same as Age of Sigmar? or is it like all different? I've never tried fantasy or age, just played 40k.
this form of vampirism is a bit of a raw deal imo...no cool supernatural powers...and I wouldn't want my immortality to depend on the safety of a bug in a device.
I started watching the videos about the three franchises I was interested in. Then I started to watch the other stuff. Now I just watch every video that comes out. Keep going. Godspeed.
The alchemist 'created' the bug. Old school alchemy was the transference of one thing into another, including animals and insects. That's why we saw the different insects in his 'lab' in the beginning.
Still hoping to see He Never Died on this channel. Also look into The Dead Matter with Andrew Divoff and Tom Savini. I have the Criterion Edition of Cronos myself.
One of the first movies with Ron and Del toro and has led to their friendship and more of their incredible works together, Ron is always my favorite actor no matter who he plays
Nice, a different and somewhat "realistic" vampire movie. Love it! Im tired of the cliche highschool or college nerd that get turns into a vampire and is suddenly the chosen one that has overpowered abilities . I'm a huge werewolf / any animalistic lycanthrope fan but i do appreciate a good vampire movie and lore
Love the channel. I've never watched a movie, but I definitely am going to give it a watch now. I think you should do Dracula from Batman versus Dracula next
Another good video keep them coming my dude, and I hope to see the vampires from the anime hellsing ultimate on here one day, fingers crossed it happens one day.....
I would say that the device is more Scarab-like, and it makes sense that there are six legs. Scarabs (A type of beetle) are often a reference to Egypt.
If your taking up recommendations, could you look into a Tv series named "From" should be right up your ally. I've just finished the first season and just now looking into season 2, so far its a great Watch, even if you don't make a video on it, I still think its something you'ed might enjoy too.

If you ever cover anime and dare to brace yourself in the waters of young adult fantasy romance, then I'd really recommend Vampire Knight and its sequel Memories for the new subtype of vampires. Most people compare it to the Twilight of anime, but I'd rather call it The Vampire Diaries of anime because of its in-depth lore regarding the vampires and having one of the original vampires around. Though its sequel is rather what an unholy lovechild of Riverdale and The Vampire Diaires would look like, but the memes you can make out of it are part of the fun!
Honestly, I don't feel like this is an actual vampire movie. I see it as man's madness in seeking immortality with little to no regard as to what the consequences might be.
You should review the movie Bitten (2008) staring Jason Mewes of Jay and Silent Bob fame. It’s a horror/comedy about a female vampire being found on an alley by a paramedic(Jason Mewes).
I know you don't make anime but you should try out this anime called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Phantom blood it talks about this ancient vampire curse where you wear a stone mark he turns into a vampire
Very interesting movie. Oh but hey Cogan I got a show to recommend! I think you might like the show The lost girl, is has tons of lore on so many supernatural creatures and it's fun to watch 😊
I can't help seeing something of Hellraiser because of the infernal device that moves the plot. I do wonder how many other movies have similar items, I find the concept fascinating.
To be fair it's possible Jesus and the Alchemist "died" which made their vampiric looking forms. The lack of abilities might just be Jesus never lived long enough to get them. But I do like these kinds of twists to the formula. Especially when there are consequences to the gifts. Though the people in the movie could have all gotten what they wanted by talking it out. Got to call them out, it says if there heart is pierced, they die, but he was autopsied, and embalmed, therefore he wouldn't have a heart attached, I mean if piercing it kills them, they why did removing it not...idk this bugs me lol Keep up the good work, love your videos buddy
This channel singlehandedly filled the void in my heart as a person who is transfixed on the mythology and biological theory of vampires.

This device reminds me a little of the stone mask from the Jojo series.
Pretty sure it was at least referenced in Resident Evil, if not what inspired RE4.
It has to have been inspired by JoJo
I could see ties to Griffin's egg from BERSERK
@RlKrav I could see that as berserk took inspiration from phantom of the paradise and deltoro is a HUGE fan of that film.

It still is immortality tho. Imagine all the skills and strengths you could acquire over an infinite amount of time.
Eh. Some undead have their immortality depend on magic Tupperware.
The final Form looks like a horror movie Monster. Doesn't Pass as a human.
Without superpowers that will be a very Touch lonely existence
More like a lich than a vampire.

It’s similar to a lich in D&D lore , needing to protect the instrument where the undeads soul is kept with a mixture of vampirism.
