- John from www.discountjui... compares the Vitamix Vacuum Blender Upgrade Container + Lid + Pump Kits by Biochef against the Dynapro DPS-2250 Vacuum Blender to learn which one of these vacuum blending solutions is best
In this episode, you will learn about the best way to blend smoothies, grind seeds into powder and make the most nutritious juice using a vacuum blender
First, you will learn about the price difference between these two vacuum blending options. You will learn about the significant warranty difference in both these options as well. You will also learn about the main benefits of vacuum blending and why you should vacuum blend instead of blending traditionally.
Next, John will compare each component of the vacuum blender piece by piece, including the carafe or jar or container, the lid, the vacuum pump, as well as the shape of the carafe and blade assembly. You will discover which part John likes better overall.
You will then discover how long it takes to pull a vacuum on an empty container using the biochef container or the tribest container.
Next, John will talk more about the customer support and warranty and the part most likely to fail on these vacuum blending kits.
You will then learn which of these vacuum blenders can better grind whole flax seeds into a powder more effectively. You will see the results and which option was able to grind to finer particle size and leave fewer unground seeds.
Next, you will discover which one of these will break down your nuts and leafy greens into a smaller particle size for the best tasting and better-absorbed smoothies. John will blend collard leaves and hazelnuts in coconut water that simulates a smoothie being made. You will learn if the Dynapro DPS-2250 vacuum blender or the biochef kit is a better solution to vacuum blend to grind to the smallest size and how it would compare to using a traditional non-vacuum Vitamix.
Finally, John will share with you how you can vacuum juice in your vacuum blender so you can make a juice with the highest yield and most nutrition by processing your fruits and vegetables without oxygen and grinding them to the finest particle size. John will process organic cranberries and pineapple to make a pleasant holiday alcohol-free cocktail. You will learn which one of these vacuum blenders is NOT optimal for vacuum juicing due to the carafe shape.
After watching this video, you will learn about the best vacuum blender between the Dynapro DPS-2250 and the Biochef Vacuum Blender Carafe + Lid and Vacuum Pump that fits all classic Vitamix models (does not fit the SmartDetect models including Ascent and Venturist)

Thanks for the detailed comparison. Definitely will consider upgrading once my Vitamix + Biochef setup reaches end of life.
Thanks for the information. There is no way on the planet the vitamix people would know you were using a different lid if a warranty issue came up. 😂
I almost purchased the Biochef for my Vitamix but after seeing this video it’s a no go. Don’t like the lack of customer service and both the vacuum and blades seem to be subpar. The Dynapro is obviously a better machine but still saw quite a bit of foam on top of the glass of the juice in the final demonstration. For me it’s going to be a toss up between the Dynapro and the Kuvings. I make single smaller servings at time so the smaller carafe of the Kuvings would be just fine and I like the convenience of not having to use a separate device to vacuum. I’ll still have to give it some thought. Thanks for your helpful videos!
@@huitrecouture Never bought the Dynapro. I actually opted for the Kuvings and they’ve just recently replaced it. The first failed to vacuum at one point and produced a strong odor. Since that time, it continued producing fainter odors while making anything with ice and/or frozen fruits. I’ve had the replacement for a week. The vacuum works fine but after the initial “new” odor that it produced, this one is doing the same with fainter odors while making smoothies with frozen fruits or ice. So far I’ve made 6. At this point I don’t know whether the machine does not handle frozen items well or if it’s because it’s new. I’ll give it some more time. However, it does seem to me that vacuum blenders are finicky and need tweaking. It doesn’t surprise me that some companies have discontinued them.
Is there a link for the battery eliminator?
This video shows the pump and has a link to it ua-cam.com/video/VbK3-waIYNI/v-deo.html
A tip I just figured out with my Bio-Chef when doing celery juice. I usually have to shake it a few times during the process, but I started adding back just a little celery juice into the fresh cuts. (I do several batches at once). By adding the juice, no shaking out of air pockets. Can’t believe I didn’t think of this before, ugh.
What are fresh cuts?
@@yan7789 Mika is saying that some celery juice is kept in a vacuum from the previous/original juice, and added to the next days blend with fresh celery pieces. This adds lubrication to the start of the next juice blend.
John - thank you for returning my emails so quickly and providing your expertise with us all so freely. You've educated me so much and I'm going to purchase a red Dynapro from you! Love the videos!
Awesome video John. I was contemplating a Vitamix and later on buying the Biochef to vacuum blend in it. Now I don’t think I’ll get the Biochef. Love my Sana 727 Supreme from you.
Your review videos are amazing! I watch them just to learn about all the things out there, but, boy, will I know my stuff when I decide to buy! Thank you!
The vaccum pump test sealed the deal for me for the Dyna...no pun intended. lol
Great video John! Appreciate the depth of these comparisons
I love your videos (thank you for making them!). I trust all your slow juicing reviews, but I felt there was some bias in this video particularly. It’s pretty common knowledge in the blending community that the narrow container requires less tamping because it creates a more successful vortex. Maybe for juicing purposes, the Vitamix vortex is less ideal, but I’m not sure how that plays with the vacuum. Also the dull blades are viewed as a plus with the Vitamix for better blending and safer cleaning. Just a few thoughts I had after watching! Hope you keep making these great videos. They’re super helpful
So John - Do the Dynapro carafe and pump fit on a Vitamix, can they be purchased independently and, if so, do they also come with the 15 year warranty? Seems like the logical move for a Vitamix owner to get both the better pump AND carafe in addition to the better warranty.
Love your work John. Thank you for all you do🙏
Is it bad to stop the blender and add more veggies etc while making a green smoothie or add while it’s still going? Meaning letting air in?
hi, when you tested the blenders pumps at 19:40 in the video, at 19:51 the Biochefs light turned green, signifying it was done at 40 seconds. Just thought I'd let ya know
Wow great tip with the electrical tape i never would have thought of that. Enjoyed your video
All the best.
John, you mentioned a workaround to convert the Dynapro vacuum pump requiring batteries to a plug-in type. Do you happen to have the link to where the kit can be purchased?
Check my amazon shop:
www.amazon.com/shop/johnkohler
I appreciate your detailed comparisons
Noticed on the Vitamix, you didn't have the turbo mode on the left flipped up to the on position....
John have you reviewed or heard of the blendtide vacuum blender @ $299 on Amazon?
Hi John, do you have any Black Friday sale for the vacum blender?
I like the process of blending then straining vs. using a juicer. - After hand milking the bag, I’ve been squeezing the last bit of juice out in a “Vintage Kitchen Citrus Juicer - white enamel coated ” by stuffing the bag in the well and using the lever for additional pressure instead of the hydraulic version.
So a vitamix creates better juice than a nama j2? Should i just get a vitamix since it has more uses than just juicing as well.
Vacuum Blending and then straining creates a more nutritious and higher yield juice than a juicer. The J2 will make a more nutritious juice than a vitamix (without vacuum)
When will there be a kit for Vitamix A3500 Ascent series
I wish we could buy the Dynapro blender without the vacuum motor since using a food saver with a wide drain plug as the suction portion works great on the Bio-Chef.
Very informative. I live in Mexico and can buy the dynapro from Amazon mx but I’m wondering how the warranty would be honored here. I’ve had problems with other companies.
Can you explain why you shouldn't drink the pulp with all of these different types of juices? Isn't pulp good for fiber?
He never said you should't drink the pulp. It's a preference. Some people don't like the pulp in their juice and want a more refreshing crisper taste. This is why I don't drink the pulp. But I get plenty of fiber from other fruits and veggies that I eat throughout the day. I just don't want the fiber in my juice.
I'm not sure all the hassle of straining the blended juice is really worth the alleged additional nutrition. Yes, vacuum blending may increase your juice's shelf life, but how much more than if you simply vacuum sealed your juice after juicing?
I'm gonna try the $20 hack the raw juice guy recommended for the Vitamix. But mine is $30 cuz I didn't shop hard for the pump. Just bought a Foodsaver pump at Walmart. We'll see how it works.
There is a difference in vacuum made juice in terms of both yield and nutrition. I have shown the yield difference that can be like a cup more when I made about quart. How much longer storage? tough to say, they should both be drank within 5-7 days max.
so i am on two choices between the sana 272 vss the dynapro plug an alexlas bag which would you say to get and why?
Instead of nut milk bags, how well would a French press work? I've seen other videos where people make nut milk this way and it seems a lot easier, but I wonder if it's as effective at separating liquid from solid.
I have tried with a few, and it hasnt worked.
Do you think you can use your influence with Vitamix to get a longer warrantee for the vacuum?
Its biochef that offers the warranty. I wish I had more influence with them
in my country only an older version ( dps-1050 ) of dynapro is available now but it has bad reviews on amazon for failing. Need to research more, but maybe someone can tell more about older model?
As beautiful as vacuum blending can be, I really question using a nylon nut bag as they contain micro plastics. Better would be an organic natural fiber.
What is recommendation for an alternative tool instead of the nut bag?
Surely you can use a organic cotton pillowcase or even a hemp nut milk bag. The issue with natural fiber is that if you don't dry/clean well, they can mold.
I think John likes Dino Pro I'm going to buy one from him I'm pretty sure within a couple days
Your interview with Dr. Joel Fuhrman a while back disappointed me, because when you mentioned vacuum blending, he gave you the same response that I get from the Vitamix demonstrators at Costco -- they don't know and they don't want to know. You would think that Fuhrman, who claims to be all about MAXIMUM nutrition, would be all over this.
Really love my tribest vacuum blender.
They do offer great servicing.
Unbeknownst to most, the current tribest dynapro 1050 model on their website has the same Swedish motor at two hundred bucks less.
Thanks for your videos.
wow! You know things I don't! I have confirmed we have less than 6 units in stock now with the Swedish motor for $200 less while they last, they will NOT be coming back after we sell them. Buy now at www.discountjuicers.com/dynaproblender.html so you get one! This is an incredible deal!
PLEASE take my advice and don't buy the 1050 model if you like big smoothies. With a full jar the 1050 will just shut off after 10 or 20 seconds. It was so bad I thought something was wrong with it so I sent it back to Tribest service and they sent it back saying that it was fine. I hated mine. The new 2250 is amazing and I love it.
I have the 1050 for sale but my blender jar is broken at the bottom but it will still work. I will sell it for $100 plus shipping.
@@LarryRichelli interesting
Send it back again. Tell them what is wrong.
The newer 1050 has same motor and jug as the 2050
Just get it replaced under the 15 year warranty.
If you have both, show them what is wrong by video.
Their warranty and costumer service is pretty great.
@@GodDieux Oh, you are so wrong. The motor is way more powerful in the 2250. It was tribest that told me this and I can confirm after buying the 2250 there is no comparison. I tried to get the jug warrantied but they would not because I dropped it and it was not their fault. I was going to buy a new jug but they are like $250. I had a $500 Amazon gift cert so I just bought the 2250 and it was one of the best moves I have made. With my big smoothies the 1050 would overheat and shut down after 20 or 30 seconds. The new 2250 blasts through the same smoothie with so much more power that I couldn't believe it at first and never shuts off with overheating.
@@LarryRichelli yes I had the same issue with the motor.
There were two versions of the 1050. The first version had a crappy motor that needed replacing. Eventually they replaced it with the same Swedish motor that eventually became the 2250.
On the bottom of your blender there is a serial number and a year.
I was under the impression that I was getting the newer one with the Swedish motor. The Canadian distributor had made a mistake. When eventually it failed, I made a fuss to tribest directly and the sent me a new motor base 1050 with the new Swedish motor that is the same as in the 2250.
They had two different versions of the 1050. The crappy one about three or four years ago, and the upgraded one.
I love using my newer 1050 one now.
I tested and compared it with the rpm of the 2250 and it is the same.
Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you, John.
I wonder how much more juice you would get putting the bag in Pure/Norwalk presser?
I would like to see a juice off with this method vs your previously favorite juicer.
In your opinion, which has the stronger motor with less overheating shutdowns on a torture test, Vitamix or Dynapro? I have not seen this comparison anywhere.
I would say the vitamix is more durable and less likely to overheat/shutdown.
Is te day apro the best? I’m so tempted from it...
Where is the link to the vacuum pump ac adaptor?
This video shows the pump and has a link to it ua-cam.com/video/VbK3-waIYNI/v-deo.html
Hi John where’s the link for the battery ac adapter for the dynapro vacuum pump?
link to video where I share more ua-cam.com/video/VbK3-waIYNI/v-deo.html
Hi John, thanks again for yet another fab and informative video.
I have been following you for years and respect your opinion over any other, especially when it comes to juicers and blenders....
Ive used my Vitamix TNC for years and need to buy a new one... however, there are now SO many options(too many in my opinion).. when really all I want is a new TNC!!! I don't want a reconditioned or second hand one, Im prepared to buy a new Vitamix, but would love to be able to buy the closest thing to the TNC. which Vitamix model in your opinion would be the equal to the TNC??
I know the Dynapro kit can't be used on the newer models.....I use my kit on my old TNC still....
Thanks again John, SO much! I love you! :)
BTW... Im in Northern Ireland... so maybe the models are named differently for this market in the UK?
NEW Vitamix blenders are not made like they used to as they have changed motor manufacturers many times over the years. I would recommend purchasing a used unit or one with LOW usage that is like new.
@@discountjuicers Hi, and thanks for your response.
I have a question regarding blendtec blending and straining to keep from oxidation.... in my mind, (and Ive been doing this in my vacuum blender) to go through the precess of blending, then squeezing through a bag... surely this causes just as much oxidation after all the work? man handling all the natural juices really feels even more oxidating(if that's even a word lol) than just regular juicing in my Omega slow juicer.....
Would love your thoughts John.
Thankyou:)
The Vitamix power level wasn't quite up all the way but it was up all the way on the Dynapro. Just an observation. Was it not up all the way because it is an after market accessory?
I have this after-market vacuum carafe and pump for the Vitamix which I bought several years ago and use daily on high speed. It works great.
Great video, appreciate all the work that you do. Quick question, with the vacuum blender, do you have to vacuum seal in order to use the blender or can you do it without vacuum sealing it?
If I understand your question, you can blend with or without pulling a vacuum on the containers. If you don't use the vacuum pump, then it's just like blending with any other power blender.
@@richardgray8593 Thanks so much!
Where do you buy john kohler Nut milk Bags
Does this work with the newest Vitamix Ascent series?
No.
No 15 years warranty on the Tribest Dynapro here in the EU. Only 2 years.
you have very good video, love it. see you in Bali my friend
I bought this Tribest Dynapro and honestly I'm not impressed by it. If I'm paying over $600 for something, it better be damn good and this thing just doesn't deliver. And I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with it.
May I ask what you didn't like about it and what blender do you use now? Thanks
I live in Singapore and voltage is 220 so is there any other models?
How can I find the plug-in converter for the vacuum pump?
This video shows the pump and has a link to it ua-cam.com/video/VbK3-waIYNI/v-deo.html
Hey John. Thanks for all you do. Any Stainless steal versions that do this? Hate estrogenic plastic if it can avoid it. Thanks. Still using a Vitamix 4000 SS version. Lol
no stainless steel vac blenders that I am aware of at this point.
tribest makes a glass vacuum blender but it’s not as powerful
Thanks so much for this video!
How Big is the nut Bag size John is using?
Alexa's Bags™ Juicing Bag XL Size 13" x 14"
Why does the Dynapro vacuum blender not come with a glass container? Thank you.
Glass is breakable. It's an invitation to get sued if somebody hurts themself by breaking a glass container. Blame the lawyers.
Can we get a review of the Hurom H400 please?
It is on my list to do.
Why not try without vacuum with regular vitamix container and see which leaves the most fiber in sieve.?
I was interested in this as well. I’m curious if the blade quality on the biochef just isn’t very good. If so then I would be interested in jury rigging my own vaccine top using the original vitamix carafe.
@@Nicholassc7k I would be wary of pulling a vacuum on a regular Vitamix carafe that was not designed for vacuum blending. My concern is with the bearings and the likelyhood of lubricants being pulled out into your food.
I much prefer vacuum blenders to juicers ; don’t discard the fibre ,as you seem to do , which is one of the most nutritionally important components in the healthy ingredients !
You must do one with the dynapro long side the vita mix A3500 power vs power tells be fear
It doesn't let me do anything when I try to purchase the dynapro. Can someone please help me..
John why are always the vessel’s plastic?
This should be a great comparison by the master of all info on blenders and juicers!!!
Nice !
Why use the bag and not just drink right from the blender? Am I missing something? Ty.
Some people don't like fibre, and some people even think fibre is bad for health. But prolly the prevaling view of those who toss the insoluble fibre is that it slows the uptake of nutrients. As for me, I don't understand why nutrients should be absorbed quickly rather than slowly, so I'm on your side.
There are pros and cons to consuming fiber. I will make a video going more into detail. There are benefits for drinking it, but there are also benefits to NOT drinking it.
I could not find where to buy the nut milk Bag . I checked out where John said but no success.
it should be available soon on that site.
Alright thanks John I’ll check Back later then.
Looking forward to see how they compare. Would be interesting to see which pump provides better vacuum
I believe the tribest pump makes a little more vacuum, but I have not tested with a meter.
33:16 Thank you for sharing the tape trick, John! I use it for making vacuum in food containers with plastic lids. My pump is a manual wine saver pump (Vacu Vin).
John, another great video thx. Several weeks ago I had posted a link to a video in the comments section of one of your videos but I don't remember which one. Hopefully you have taken it down as it turned out to be misinformation.
I was using a handheld orange juice squeezing device that you can find all over the net. It started out as a great idea and it really did a terrific job as I have some grip issues so the nut milk bag squeezing can be more effectively done for me with a Wells press, but like you said $400 and another device to clean.
Anyway, squeezer device thingy worked great until a little prepressed knockout dislodge has from the pressure plate and causes a sharp edge which instantly tares the nut milk bag. So I highly recommend that if anybody comes up with this particular wacky solution that I thought was so wonderful save your 12 or 22 bucks cuz that was the price range I found or just use it for squishing oranges.
So I'll just have to do the best I can with as much as I can with whatever grip I got. It's still a thousand times better than my slow juicer and that was a thousand times better than centrifical juicer.
Thanks for being a lone voice out there with the vacuum blending and juicing this strategy is really the real deal pinnacle for liquid nutrition out there. Keep talking it up dude. I believe you are on The Cutting Edge of what will become a movement once people start understanding the realities and the benefits.
It's a bit of a leap of faith to plunk down your plastic for one of these devices, But as time goes on I'm confident that it will catch on. How could it not? It's amazing!
No thanks to both I will go with the all glass oster!
Interesting variation of homemade tape flap. I just use a small square of tape, directly over hole. Stays vacuum indefinitely.
Thank you John for the very detail overview of the vacuum blenders. Do you have any plans to offer purchases of small appliances thru your website to Canadian’s?
Vitamix 5200 made in China? No try Ohio. 5200 cost Black Friday weekend I paid about $270 with tax
It's assembled in the USA with imported components, including the motor.
I had the older Dynapro 1050 and my blender jar broke. Since the new jar is $250 and I had an Amazon gift card I bought the new Dnyapro 2250 and I am blown away at the new one. It is so much more powerful I am delighted. I also figured out the voltage on the pump and got a ac adapter so no more batteries needed.
Now I have the older Dynapro 1050 motor I want to sell but I can't find anyone to buy it. $100 if your interested.
Funny that they will sell the blade and lid separately but not the container. Perhaps call them and ask them to sell you the container without the lid and blade at a proportional price. I have found that when you call them they tend to be helpful. Sometimes these companies need things spelled out for them to understand.
@@GodDieux I tried calling them and all they would do is give me 15% off of the jar. Since I already have the new 2250, I did put in a warranty request to get the motor upgraded in my 1050, so it that goes through I will try again on the blender Jar....but doing all this just to try to sell it seems like an awful lot of work when they are so hard to sell because of the shipping cost.
@@GodDieux I just bought the jar for the blender so now that I have the complete blender I will be selling it for $200 plus shipping. Works perfectly and comes with new jar and lid.
@@LarryRichelli when did you buy it.
Is it the 1050 with the upgraded Swedish motor. What the serial number.
@@GodDieux I think the serial number is: 5006118
John love your videos...I'm doing some serious research on juicing and what device will be the most efficient for me aside from wanting to juice fruits and vegetables for my health I also make a lot of homemade lemonade with different fruit flavors and have found that the slow juicer has given me the best result when juicing lemons with the rhine still on and not producing that harsh taste I would love to see a demonstration with the Nana J2 and the dynapro and the Vitamix vacuum blenders to see if the lemon juice with the Rhine would produce a harsh taste using the vacuum blender. I have bought two juicers so far on the cheaper side to be specific the NutriBullet juicer and the ninja cold press I like the concept of the ninja cold press but my issues are not being able to produce a large batch of juice in a short period of time and I don't like the cleanup with all the parts and pieces. And centrifuge juicers definitely do not give the results I desire. PLEASE HELP ME
why puncture the lid why not just place the jar with the lid on not tight in the blender container and use the pump to vacuum seal. easier that way and you dont destroy your lid
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Who pays € 280 for a blender jar and a pump when you can get a vacuum blender for a small extra charge ??
Keep It Simple Stupid!
... which is why I prefer the classic Vitamix motor base
Right on. Electronic controls on a blender is damn stupid, if you ask me.
why does he keep calling it biochef when its a vitamix? its just the pump that is biochef. i dont get it
Its the vitamix motor base with the biochef upgrade kit, So I refer to it as the biochef as compared to the dynapro that I am comparing it against.
First!
Can I order over the phone? Do you have a phone number?
Why does it take such a long video to compare??!!
Because there are many ways a blender can be used, and I Want to show more than just one test. if you dont want to watch it, the best is the Dynapro between the two. Ground up to a smaller particle size, and a better carafe design & sharper blade overall, with the longest warranty.
Why would you do an unfair comparison by having different width in the container? This is more of an unfair commercial.
This episode shows the difference the container design makes. That was the point. As many people think "all blenders are the same"
What a stupid comment.
