In 1963 I bought one of these. I had the 289 I believe but this was the color combination. It lacked power steering so; it was a beast to steer when slow or parking. Very sharp looking car. I sold it to my brother and bought a 1967 Mercury Cougar which I still own to this day!
My next door neighbor growing up had one that he bought used from the original owner ( maybe 1974?). Same engine and trans but was red with black interior. It was a beast! Thank you for sharing your car !
Had one only in deep red with black interior. Never put any miles on the R-Code, pulled to save and dropped in a 406 until the Merc 410 stroker was finished. My favorite year and model, 2nd favorite doesn't even come close.
Well, Thanks: a Classic. Interestingly, an older School Acquaintance bought one of these first “ Scatbacks 1963.5 “ new: I was just driving, &/getting into CARS( His had Black interior, Blew engine by winter 1963)..Anyways, so powerful & great sound …..
Yeah, but that’s how she came from the factory. Not with the Mickey Thompson’s I have on there now but with those wheels and hubcaps. Tell you what, find me one of those KH wheels in good shape, 61-63 date code, I’ll give you $1000 for it and be thrilled about it.
Sorry, but no. Might consider it if I could get a real lightweight or SOHC car. There’s a lightweight for sale here in my city. I might go over and look at it and maybe they’ll even let me do a video. They want $135k for it.
Use as much new old stock parts as you can find for this rare car you’re better off. You have a screamer that’ll take on and smoke the police cars I’m sure. Don’t sell it you’ll regret it.
Always loved those. Thanks for sharing!

Very cool 😎
I have a 63 Z code XL 4 speed. you have the holy grail of Galaxies! Very nice.
With that kind of horsepower those 15s were not near enough tire.....😮

Emough
Width is what matters you don't need 22s
@@mikecross4350 I'm talking about the tire that's on the car now they happen to be 15 but yes weider is better
I have one just like it,..... almost. 390, convertible triple black.
A set of whitewalls, and youve got a sleepin' screamer
What octane does it require?
It would run on 87 but I run 91 and also an octane booster. It's made to run on 100+ octane gas.
@Adam's Garage is this for sale? Seems like it by the video.
Not really. There's a lightweight I'd like to get and I'm sure they wouldn't trade me straight up. If I could get $95k for this car I'd let it go.
For sale??

I don't know, those new twin turbo Explorer police package cars are pretty fast! I'd get him on top speed though, for sure.
