The thing is, lots of movies from decades ago pushed the boundaries of inclusion at the time and were great movies as a result. Today's problem is that they are using DEI as a *replacement* for quality filmmaking. It's like how the Hobbit used CGI as a replacement for quality cinematography, but LoTR used CGI to enhance quality cinematography. It doesn't work if you just haphazardly throw it into a bad film and expect audiences to eat it up.
That's the difference between diversity, and DEIversity. Real diversity enhances things, because it adds variety. Different personalities, different experiences, and different opinions all coming together to make a whole greater than its parts. Even if one part doesn't quite work out, all the other different parts still can. Even if one person can't quite accomplish what you need, someone else can. Because they're all different. But the forced DEIversity ends up doing the opposite. It replaces all that variety with monotony. Everyone looks the same, thinks the same, sounds the same, and acts the same. And the resulting whole ends up far weaker than its parts. Because when one part of it doesn't work, NONE of it works. If one person is incompetent, everyone is incompetent. Because they're all the exact same.

I pretty much just watch The Northman, Starship Troopers, 300, Idiocracy, and Triumph of the Will. That all of the law around law the rings is based around European mythology. We're like a tiny bit of like Christianity mixed up there. There shouldn't be any people of color. Even when you get into characters like the Easterking. Those people are still seen as Southeastern Europeans. So basically like North of Turkey. And while that may be Middle Eastern adjacent. Night made the three main leads of his Avatar movie played by white actors despite the world of the show being set in a very Eastern inspired world. I tried to watch the Rings of Power when it first came out, and I was enthusiastic and optimistic about the series, until 10 minutes into the first episode. So boring. The recent Dungeons & Dragons movie was a better watch.

If the African American population of the United States is 13.9 percent, why does almost every commercial now feature African Americans or other people of color and have Caucasian people barely represented or somewhere in the back barely visible. Watch Tubi for an hour and tell me what you think. Who are they advertising to ???? Most of the content I watch has virtually no appeal to that community but have commercials clearly trying to appeal to a small section of the population. I personally take offense.
