Funniest story kind of related, one of the members of my hometown volunteer fire department also worked next town over as a professional firefighter. They got a call to a building about a possible gas leak. Get to the building, head inside, all come out choking and coughing. Mask up, go back with gas sensors, nothing. Call the local hazmat team, try to warn them about it, they don't believe it, go up, come out coughing and choking. They gear up, take up their much more sensitive and better sensor, nothing. Finally by this time people have evacuated and they are opening rooms to check, find one with all the windows wide open and something in a blender next to the stove. Turns out, a guy was trying to make homemade ghost pepper salsa, roasted the peppers, and when he blended them, all the capsaicin got released into the air and proceeded to tear gas an entire apartment complex with burning, choking, eye watering vapor.
