I lived in Florida for 27 yrs. I do not miss the SPIDERS and the heat of the summers and did I mention the SPIDERS lol . In my opinion April/May is the best time to get out of florida and head north and come back Nov/ Dec . Now that we are full time we get to do just that . Stay well and travel safe .
Yep, that is certainly the plan! We've seen some monstrous spiders around the property, luckily usually dead, makes me wonder where the living ones are hiding out! Lol

It's certainly not ideal, 😂 but I do like that I can paddleboard all year round & get a tan in December. We will be hitting the road come May though! and hopefully back in your neck of the woods in August.
As an Anglo-Irish imigrant living in California. I have to say that heat and humidity is too insufferable East of the Rockies. When dusk falls the insects bombard and its misery. I got my citizenship 17th of March 2015. I live in Palm Springs California and escape North or to the coast in my Ram and travel trailer during the summer.
We are so looking forward to exploring the West cost. We've not been yet, but its 100% on our list, probably next year now with these bloomin gas prices.

We had the same conversations. The beach houses are crazy expensive. Also, not the place you want to be during a hurricane. We would definitely have though if we had the cash 😁

The summer in Florida is like winter in Minnesota. Also, some areas of Florida have a real problem with bears. We've seen them while visiting the beach.
Yes good point Clark, I forgot about the bears, bobcats, coyotes. Which, to be fair we had in VA also. We've not personally seen a bear yet, but neighbours seem to see a lot of bobcats which makes me nervous with a small dog!

I lived in Miami Beach 1989-93. I loved the summers most because the tourists were few and I could walk across the street and go into the ocean 2-4 times a day. I had never lived in dry heat up until then so the humidity was not a big deal; I live in California now and there's no way I could tolerate the humidity now. I was a LOT younger then, of course. The nightlife was fantastic. One hurricane was all it took for me to get out of there, even though I didn't get harmed or lose anything. Hurricanes are just too disruptive for my lazy ass to deal with.
Just found your channel and really love your style and candor! We are from VA and now Full time even with FL as our official domicile, though we have no true physical home base. Soooo agree about the insurance but glad to not be paying personal property taxes on our rig😉

We live in Raleigh, NC. When we go to Asheville, there a lot of people who live there that are from Florida. I finally asked one, "Why are there so many people from Florida here?",. There response was, "We are Half Backs. We moved to Florida to escape the winters and it was too hot, so we moved halfway back." Last winter, we did a 2 week trip in Florida to visit family who moved from Philly. People ask us if we were looking to also move there. My response was, "Why would I do that? Our winters are short and not that bad. I am 2 hrs from the mountains and 3 hrs from the beaches." I hate the drivers in Florida. Either some idiot with a souped up crap box weaving in and out of traffic or people going 10mph below the speed limit. Ft Lauderdale and Miami are the worse.
Halfbacks! Never heard of that term before but that’s great. I would say we miss the mountains but we don’t because for half of the year we’re back in them, but I’m thinking more beach trips potentially this year ! The joy of Rving is we can be hiking mountains one week and running the dogs along the beach the next 😄
I new a lot about gators and snakes, but wasn't aware of the spider and scorpions. We loaded potatoes out of there and there were 100's of little lizards, where told they were harmless. So sorry to hear about Texas, spent a lot of time there and never had an issue, same with Arizona. But I would say, going shopping and locals having guns strapped to there belts got my attention...😲😲😲
I’m from Michigan and it’s humid there as well. But I heard Florida gets more humid. I do not like spiders and snakes. Or scorpions. We have those here too. Have never seen a snake here. I can’t believe that no insurance on houses there because of the hurricanes. I don’t think it’s right but what can you do about it? Crime in Florida is high. I didn’t know that! I'm a Canadian living in Canada considering retirement locations. I'm not even considering Florida because of politics. Cannot deal with what's been happening in the US the past 6 years. Completely changed my opinion of the country.
Having traveled around quite a bit, the politics change regionally. Quite interesting to hear the different view points. But as we said, we are just happy to be here and don't get involved with it as we have zero impact.

Hey Guys Very very interesting video indeed. It’s really funny because there were unknown things that are more or less the same for us here in the Canadian Rockies. # 1 Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), in a word nightmare. You have to get your car insurance from the provincial run Crown Corporation and just like any government run organization they are expensive and crap. Also their bureaucratic crap is why the provincial abbreviation is B.C. Ha Ha Ha. # 2 Never mind the gators guys, it’s the black bears, cougars and the occasional GRIZZLY BEARS that just love to use our lawn as a lavatory. # 3 The weather, holy smokes, we never imagined the extremes. We get plus 40 degrees in the summer and minus 35 degrees in winter. The scary forest fires in summer and 3 feet dumps of snow in winter, that said we are avid skiers and snowmobile riders so love a big dump ha ha. # 4 Because we live in the Columbia River Valley the largest WET LANDS in North America, the bloody mosquitos in July and August can be unbearable. We usually bugger off down to the lakes to get away from them. # 5 Political situation in Canada, OMG. We became Canadian citizens in November of 2011 and thankfully we can vote. But the vexing situation here in Canada is the west is very very Conservative with the exception of GVA the (Greater Vancouver Area). While the rest of Canada are very much Liberals or even worse NDP (New Democratic Party) that’s Labour to you and I. Unfortunately we are vastly out numbered here in the west by Ontario and Quebec so we don’t get much of a say in all things Federal. And yes it’s the same here too, everyone and I mean everyone talks politics everywhere and living in a small town and being in business you have to be very careful what you say and how you say it. # 6 And the Brucey Bonus, crime. When we first moved here 16 years ago we would leave our doors unlocked, our cars unlocked and just leave all our shit (snowmobiles, motorbikes, ATV’s lawnmowers etc etc) in the yard. But unfortunately as the town and area have become more and more touristy we are starting to see a lot more crime. We have had vehicles stolen etc, usually on long weekends when the city folks are here en mass. Drugs are becoming more of an issue thus the crime that goes with it but it’s everywhere these days. ULTIMATELY THERE IS NOWHERE THAT IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. The great thing about having a RV is that you can travel to lots different places.
Hey Andy, that’s really interesting. We had friends who moved out to Ontario in 2009 from the UK. We actually visited in 2010 and that’s where we made the decision to leave the Uk. The weather and politics ultimately wore them down and they moved to Fuertaventura last year. You’re absolutely right though, nowhere is perfect and having an RV is awesome for a change. We even had a friend who lived in the BVI and after 10 years, they couldn’t stand ‘paradise’ anymore. Sounds crazy to me, but we kinda get it.

Hi William, I’m sorry that we seemed to have offended you. We actually love Florida and that’s why we moved here. Admittedly, We do struggle with the summer heat, but it’s a small price to pay to experience the rest of what Florida has to offer. We have been here for a year and made many friends (both born and raised Floridians and ‘transplants’), all of who have been very welcoming. It’s an awesome state with awesome people.

LOL. We moved to Florida and our car insurance went down. Home insurance went down. Obviously you have never lived in California :) Hurricanes.... Yawn. You never see alligators. They are hard to find. 99% of the time they never bother you. Cockroaches are bad, er Palmetto bugs. No matter how clean you are, they pop up every now and then. Good exterminator service keeps them at most of the time.

We are in the north eastern end. Big city is Knoxville. Big college town.. we lived just North of it a town called Powell. We also love the mountains

What is the best month to leave and then come back to Florida?
It’s still mild right now. So I would say June - Nov . Last year June just rained constantly.

I've lived in florida for the last 40 plus years of my life. You should know summer is hot and I'm a welder with long hair and a full beard. They say if you can't take the heat get the heck out of Florida. We don't need transplants. And whiny crying issues of yanks. And gators ain't that bad. Geeze ya'll just want to cry about most of the things that makes Florida wilderness the Florida wilderness move your butt to Orlando or Tampa or Jacksonville stay out of our woods if your going to cry about it
Hi William, I’m sorry that we seemed to have offended you. We actually love Florida and that’s why we moved here. This video was actually a contrast video to this one (ua-cam.com/video/F-VnZUm-nYc/v-deo.html).
Admittedly, We do struggle with the summer heat, but it’s a small price to pay to experience the rest of what Florida has to offer. We have been here for a year and made many friends (both born and raised Floridians and ‘transplants’), all of who have been very welcoming. It’s an awesome state with awesome people.

Politics can be a tiring........ but their is a reason there are millions of people move to Florida, from the other states.
LOL. We moved to Florida and our car insurance went down. Home insurance went down. Obviously you have never lived in California :) Hurricanes.... Yawn. You never see alligators. They are hard to find. 99% of the time they never bother you. Cockroaches are bad, er Palmetto bugs. No matter how clean you are, they pop up every now and then. Good exterminator service keeps them at most of the time.
