Chink Martin on tuba was the brass bass player here. He was terrific! Heard him in New Orleans in 1979 when he was about 90, playing string bass at Preservation Hall, just as well!
Art, I used to be a DJ & program director on a great oldies station that featured rare music & we loved to talk about the musicians, etc. In the early days of rock, the old folks, especially older musicians, said those darn kids & their rock & roll ruined music for the rest of us. Art, I've been a musician for about 50 years and I especially love to collect, listen to, & record my own versions of this amazing music. But Art, my friend do you realize this music in it's era was hated by the old folks of the time? Let me remind you also, that era's "pop culture" was centered around the "youth" as you put it, just like today.
