About the people commenting on the effects. Just learn something. It's a cool sounding lick. When you learn how to play it, do whatever you want with it. Be creative. Also, she kills it. Commenting on effects, makeup, gender, etc is beneath the intention of the video and that fact that she is taking time out to try to help others. Be respectful and give her the thumbs up she deserves.
Thought that was beyond me when I first heard it, but it was broken down well into nice sections. Good practice for bends and also made me discover a really nice delay/reverb mix. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent, Emily. I really enjoy listening to your solos and learning from of your instructive videos. I'm an old timer, guitar enthusiasts. I used to play a lot of Cream and Deep Purple back in the day. I didn't play guitar for a long time, but know, in my twilight years, I find it both challenging and comforting. So thanks again for your videos, which both inspire and help me.
this is a very nice lick she made it easy and simple ,her sound is perfect for that style.u people that think she needs to cut delay and reverb r wrong real blues tell a story and her sound brings that out .stop thinking about her looks and learn the lick it is easy and broke down simple .I have 56 years of play n blues and it only took ten minutes to play it .learn ur scales and u will c how fast u can play the licks.very nice job post some more hard driving blues like that if the rookies can learn it then they need to practice more.thank you
You are just darling, and this lesson was very useful for me at my current level of playing! I am currently on the quest/journey of unlocking licks and patterns that make sense within phrases. Thank you and keep sharing your knowledge with the world ;)
Emily, I've been reading some of the comments, below. I can't believe all the negative comments that people leave. You'd think that they must be awesome guitarist, with all the critical stuff they write. I mean, if they are that critical, why aren't they on You Tube, giving guitar lessons? I for one would be grateful, if I could play like you! Keep up the good work. Much Aloha, from Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Bro clear your facts not everyone who plays well post on UA-cam.. She plays well but her playing is weak admit that dont be a sheep to like everything when its a girl.
GuitarUniverse2013 Hahahaha, how long did it take you to write that and think that through? That is time you'll never get back over a comment that was a "joke" yes it's called humor - look it up and maybe even try and understand it because life is short and you're wasting yours.
Hey Emily, I'm just running through some of your old videos again (love this one btw) and I was wondering if you would do some more tutorials like this for beginner to intermediate players? I'm not gonna lie, I still can't play it like you do... I just don't have the same flair...but I'd really enjoy learning more of your favorite riffs and how you play them. Have a great week my friend
I've just recently begun playing Jazz and Blues and have been kind of stuck playing alot of A# Ab stuff and wanted to expand to play across the fretboard in all blues key's. I liked the lick you showed here and am going to start adding it to my progression. I got a Digitech RP360XP and it is really helping my sound. Thanks for the video and one last thing though, it's a little hard to concentrate on the lesson with such a beauty explaining it.
Its hard to explain what you do when you play. Well Done! You teach your fingers what to do (practice, practice, practice) so you don't have to think about it anymore, you just do it. Then someone wants you to show them how you do it. I can't, but then, I'm not as talented as you are. Thanks!
Just found your site....Hi Emily....that was great...good for you to start sharing your talent and lessons! I'm learning lead work for our original song list! I was taught in the music industry you encourage people to learn and be better! Your top drawer my friend!
C'mon guys!!.. Emily, I absolutley loooved your lesson. Your effects, (I was jealous lol), your style, flawless and rythmic, and Wow! You're beautiful and you jam!!! Thank you for what you do. My hat is off to you and all the other youtube teachers. Keep making the world a better place! :-)
Its so great seeing more ladies kicking it on the guitar ! I was wondering can you do blues lessons for us beginners? I sure as hell can't play like you. Thanks !!
Nice lick! short but perfectly formed! I detected a bit of a Lenny Kravitz moment right at the beginning! I will learn that tonight as part of my in depth studies of the Em pentatonic scale!
thanks Emily, that was awesome. Must say, I was blown away by how you hit that riff. Caught me off guard. Well done. I'll put in some practice now. cheers.
So I am learning Guitar.. I am so not having the best of luck. I Bought Rocksmith so I'm hoping that will help. I'm using a Jimmi Hendricks Fender and a regular Fender Strat as well. You make it look so easy I'm inspired by you to try even harder.
Hey Emily! I still haven't mastered this just yet... so I keep coming back to it. Thanks again and looking forward. To more great stuff like this! Keep rocking!
Wonderful Emily. I am so happy you are giving lessons now. Big time. I'm biased. I am predominantly playing Light Blues (Blues that make you happy). Looking forward to mastering this lesson. I think the best thank you would be a video response of my results in a few months. At least I'll try to incorporate all you show, as I only use E A D G. Or A D G B. Okay. Time to play. The rake technique is going to change my life.
Well i think your great and how refreshing to have non of the boring theory and just the needed info without the showing off with the clever im so knowlegable im a phd in music crap that teaches you nothing of usable value at all .ive subscribed and the bonus is what a loverly lady with a lovable personality xxx thanks so much tom thailand
Loved the lick. I’m haven’t been playing long enough to pick all of it. Would love to see you do this again with a little more attention to detail for someone that less advanced like me.
OMG...a beautiful woman who plays the blues. I never thought I would see the day. Been a bluesman for many years and play in style of Gary Moore, Joe Bonamassa, Billy Gibson & Michael Schenker.

You're by far the prettiest blues guitarist I've seen.
I like how this was broken down slowly and actually explained.
This woman has some guts; I've been playing a long time and she has my respect.
Always a pleasure to watch/listen to you play and learn a new lick...thanks
