I really only had two issues with this movie, and Corey wasn’t one of them.
    1. As you stated, the marketing. It set us up to expect this epic final showdown between Laurie and Michael. But their final showdown ended up being short and pretty anticlimactic. I felt it was false advertising, kind of like being lied to.
    2. At the end of Kills, Michael has just obliterated everyone. He was an unstoppable killing machine. I can find zero logic to dictate why he skulked off to sewers to hide from the world after that. It just didn’t fit with what they’d shown him to be. It took me right out of the movie and I couldn’t get back in.

@@millyoneyedeaz1350 they most definitely did not make that clear at all. This movie is the only movie in history that I’ve ever gotten truly mad at. Like super angry and pissed off and feeling cheated. I’ve disliked movies in the past and it is what it is. Sucks, but I move on with my life. With this movie? I can’t think about it without becoming enraged at how they literally bastardized the entire last film with the trash they made. They spent two whole films building up this epic showdown between Laurie and Michael. They were telling a story from one movie to the other. Then this one starts and it just is completely abandoned and we’re stuck watching this random douchy guy beating up Michael Myers and taking his mask? Are you kidding me? This would’ve been ok as a movie not part of this trilogy. If it was separated in cannon or storyline. Some kind of elseworlds shit. But Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills were two movies telling a specific story and then they just ignore it all in the last one and gave us characters that honestly didn’t even feel to be the same characters. They were the same in name only but everything else about them was totally different. And then how they basically bitched Michael out to this teen douchbag. Two whole movies basically building up his supernatural mystique and aura. Making him “feel” the mask in 2018, then making him withstand a unrealistic amount of trauma and wounds throughout kills and especially the ending. Just to say “no he doesn’t possess any superhuman qualities even tho we basically hinted st it the whole time and even in this trash movie we’re presenting now, making it seem like he has powers he can pass on to Corey or take back but we’re never gonna address it” I’m very passionate about my Halloween movies and this one disgusted me beyond belief. As far as I’m concerned this movie isn’t cannon st all and a total different story took place in my head.

That was my issue as well. 40 years Laurie Strode waited for Michael, while he was locked up. She was on the verge of a breakdown all the time. Michael breaks out and every time he kills he gets stronger? The mask might be important? He might be able to talk? He wants to look out his old bedroom window or look at his reflection in his old bedroom window? Evil dies tonight? I'm sure there are more questions... He kills Laurie's daughter, and disappears. 4 years later Laurie is decorating for Halloween, baking pumpkin pies and telling her granddaughter to find a guy that makes her want to flash her tits. Amazing what that 4 years did for her. Maybe not knowing where Michael is, was better for her? And she got over her daughters murder faster than her friends murders 40 years ago.

@Insert Coinz There is no explaining it, except to admit that it's terribly written. It plays like they got drunk halfway through the planning stages of Ends and forgot to address all the plot points they had created leading up to it. The "story" went absolutely nowhere. Horrible execution from a (supposedly) talented filmmaker. I'm still waiting to see all this talent. It sounds like his new Exorcist film will be amazing....

As he felt responsible for Michael and would want to help the victims of Michael. Which is why he is hunting for Michael in the first one and not just leaving it to the police.
Does it explain the help she got during the lockdown and got over her daughter's murder and now can enjoy Halloween?
Does Michael get stronger everytime he murders someone?
      Was the mask important?
      Could he talk?
Why did he want to look out of his old bedroom window or why he wanted to look his reflection in his old bedroom window?
And does it answer the other questions raised by 2018 and Kills that I just can't remember?

I understand that they felt the need to do a time jump, but the fact that they cut from Myers slaughtering Karen in Kills to becoming a reclusive hermit does not make sense at all.
We’ve seen before that he doesn’t care who he kills, so why have him stop before he gets Laurie (or attempts to) for good?
Plus, if you watch Kills’s alternate ending, after Laurie senses that Karen has been murdered, she walks out of the hospital clutching a rusted knife, walking to hunt down Myers.
Now we’re supposed to believe that ending wasn’t canon, because she’s deciding to live happily away from all the drama and bloodshed, writing her own book?
Plus, wouldn’t her reflexes and skills have eradicated drastically in that 4-year time, if she wasn’t looking for him?
Then, when they have their encounter at the end of the film, she wouldn’t have the upper hand so easily.
These were my main problems with the film.
At the same time, I agree there were elements that were good (but not great), but a lot that weren’t. Great analysis.
I personally rank the trilogy as Kills, 2018, then Ends.

This isn't directed at you, solely. This is directed at everyone collectively who seem to have gripes with the film. And you're civil about this topic, so I appreciate that.
The non-sensical complaints of Halloween Ends:
"Michael was weak in Ends" - Uh, yeah. That's literally the point. Throughout most of Kills, he was probably pumped up on adrenaline. The mob beating absolutely wrecked him. He was dying from years of untreated, infected wounds. And he's 65. He is quite literally an old man. He's still a human, afterall. "The more he kills, the more he transcends into something impossible to defeat: Fear. People are afraid. THAT is the true curse of Michael."
How people cannot understand this is beyond me. People thought she was talking about Michael himself becoming unstoppable, which is why they are pissed off with how he is utilized in Ends. She was literally talking about the fear he creates. The more people are afraid, the more Michael's evil taints the town of Haddonfield.
For 4 years after the events of 2018 and Kills, his presence was felt throughout the entirety of Haddonfield. Haddonfield was just a cesspool of dread and fear. And when watching Ends, you can feel it yourself. Not one point did I not think that Michael wasn't there. He was there the whole time. His evil presence was seeping through every crack and crevis of Haddonfield.
SYMBOLISM people. It's not that hard to fucking grasp.
"Michael got beat up by a nerd who got beat up by band bullies" - This one is my favourite. First of all, at this point in the story, Corey was infected with Michael's evil. THAT'S WHY he was able to go toe to toe with him. With this, it also made him stronger. Also, he never "beat up" Michael. He used Michael's own momentum against him, tripping him up causing Michael's head to smack into the ground.
Secondly, those "band bullies" (I love how people have to shoehorn the word "band" in there) were literally the same size as Corey. Anyone can get their ass kicked by a group of teenagers. You're lying if you can't. What's more, Paul Brad Logan, the screenwriter of Ends and author of the Ends novelization, said in a recent interview, that he himself was once bullied by members of a marching band. The fact that they are in a band is irrelevant.
"It's just an Allyson and Corey love story" - No, it's not that. It's a story about one person's descent into darkness and it showed that his attraction to Allyson turned into obsession because the evil was taking over. THAT is the point of that relationship.
"Michael is hardly even in it" - Okay... But he was there the whole time. You could literally feel his presence seeping through every crack and crevis of Haddonfield. He tainted the town with his evil. And you know, he actually had less screentime in the original. Hell, Freddy Krueger only had about 7/8 minutes of screentime in the original Elm Street. But did that matter? No. Because you could still feel his presence. It's all about quality over quantity. Using him sparingly.
"It's not a Halloween film" - Except, it quite literally is:
    a) It continues the story of the OG, 2018 and Kills.
    b) Michael Myers is in it.
    c) It takes place on Halloween.
How is it NOT a Halloween film? Oh, I get it. Because it's not 2 hours of Michael going house to house, stalking and slaughtering people... Is that what you all wanted? Just a repeat of 2018 and Kills? Then you would all complain that Ends was just the same as the others. Now you complain that it's too different. These filmmakers just cannot win with this fanbase. They made the right choice. They branched out. Gave us something fresh. Something unique. And you know what? I would have them do it again.

Im baffled as you how people are misunderstanding this movie, especially content creators.
As such we have a job to get our facts straight before sharing our work but apparently basing your opinion
on your opinion is the new tactic of the day.
Peopled watched the trailer over and over and never once read the synopsis, but that "Hollywood fault"
DGG explained when Kills came out, Laurie's theory is just that and its not literal,
yet people kept running with "the more he kills, the more he transcends" ignoring the full statement.
This is why they dont recognize how Kills and 2018 set up Ends.
The only thing i would say you got wrong is Michael being weak as he's no weaker in Ends
than any film in the franchise. That kitchen fight with Laurie APES every other fight they had
and she had to do ALOT to finally kill him.
in 78, a knitting needle knocked him out for minutes, in Ends a butcherknife center mass did almost
nothing, he sat right up and he was able to strangle Laurie with a throat slit,
he shouldnt have half the strength he has when she finishes him off.
SOME fans (i refuse to act like them and pretend like we all think the same, and say "the fans")
are just walking contradictions. They're fine with full on supernatural Michael
killing a whole precinct full of armed cops and not having a scratch, but then
cant stop little Rachel Caruthers when all she has is a fire extinguisher
(the foam was too much for him? lol), but Laurie has to fight her ass off
      and they're crying he's weak
yep! as a fandom, we're getting as entitled and toxic as star wars fandom.
People cant just dislike the movie, they gotta insult those of us that do,
go on Rohan Campbell and James Jude Courtney IG pages harassing them,
talk shit about the filmmakers and writers.. yup, definitlely sounds like a certain section
      of the Star Wars fandom
Apparently, they think should be in charge of what the rest of us gets to see in trailers
and in the stories themselves smh
So glad you pointed out FEAR is what Laurie was talking about in Kills, not Michael's physical power.
They're not gonna listen though, John Carpenter told us Michael didnt have a motive in 78
and SOME fans try to use the sequels to tell him he wrong. DGG already said there's no literal transference
of evil in Ends and ppl are still claiming otherwise.

Every film since the beginning of time has a synopsis, people just didnt read it
but they watched the trailer a million times.
Even with that, the prior two films dont justify that expectation anyway.
As JLC said in the BTS for "Kills", Laurie isnt the only victim here, thats the whole point of Kills, its not about her.
When people complain about the screentime, i just laugh and say oh well, too bad they dont keep the same energy
for all the classic slashers because thats what they were emulating.

This whole DGG trilogy was poorly made. From the awkward, sometimes laughable and ridiculous dialogue, to the over the top performances and criminally under utilized legacy characters. Zero fall atmosphere. Aimless story overstretched for 3 films. It all should have been wrapped up in 2018, the only decent one of the 3. As a trilogy, it's just really underwhelming. Everybody praises the mask and JJC, but getting Michael right is not enough. There are a lot of other missing aspects that make a Halloween film work. Ends sealed the deal that DGG should not have been at the helm of these movies.

My gripe with Ends is there is no continuity, whereas with 2018 > Kills they literally pick up in the same exact scene with the house burning up in flames. The reason Ends feels so disconnected is because this last film doesn’t do the same, it doesn’t feel like it’s the same universe even. The story goes rogue, where in the first 2, it was all building up to what we fans thought was going to be this major, violent, bloodbath of a showdown fight between Michael and Laurie. And it’s not. It’s about this stupid kid that has NOTHING to do with the first two films. At all. No one gave a crap who this kid was. We were there for one reason: to see Michael and Laurie battle to the death. They made him weak a f, which was weird also because in Kills, at the very very end Laurie even says and I quote “The more he kills, the more he transcends into this unstoppable force.” And here he is, completely pulverizing an entire crowd of people from the neighborhood slaughtering them all, so by this logic he should have been stronger than ever before at the very end of Kills. There’s also no answers to anything - at the end of Kills, what happened when Laurie left the hospital? Was Michael still at the house? What happened when Laurie found her dead daughter? There’s so many holes in the story that go unanswered, it was like this huge climax building us up to this epic level ending performance of a film to finish off the trilogy and instead we got this weak, old, tired version of Michael. I don’t understand it, probably never will, and I’ll just continue watching the real trilogy of 1978, then 2018, then Kills. I’m just gonna pretend like Ends doesn’t exist with all the other weird sequels they came out with.

I think my biggest issue with Halloween Ends is that it didn't feel like it was a new part 4 per say, but it felt like it was trying to rework what the new franchise timeline was attempting to do and say (which i think was so multilayered and clever in how the 2018 sequel basically established that Michael wasn't drawn to or mystically linked to Laurie at all, that it was something else. My thought was that it had to do with the original Halloween tagline, "The Night He Came Home" Halloween Kills only reinforced that possibility with Michael's main focus and acts were to get to his old home. Perhaps it was linked to Loomis yelling at him to go home and heal? Given that so much of the new Halloweens seemed to take, borrow, echo, and even directly copy pieces of all the other now non-cannon films, almost making them things which Michael may have imagined while still institutionalised as what might happen if he escaped etc...
my first thought upon seeing the end of Kills, was that the cult of the thorn was going to be directly referenced but that in Ends. Laurie was going to choose to become the vessel and have to kill her remaining family to end Michael having the power the cult had imbued him with. Making the final girl the final villain could have been an interesting route, especially since Kills felt to me like the first of the franchise to make Michael the main character... finishing with Laurie being the Corey character would have been genius as a cap to a story about how "evil" affects things. But the almost meh evolution from Kills' ending truly made me interpret this as not a final bookend to Laurie Strode but as a Silver Shamrock prequel to whatever form this evil which embodied Michael since killing his sister would now migrate to.
I get what they wanted to introduce and present with the Corey character... but i just couldn't really climb on board with Halloween Ends being a Halloween movie when so much of it... sooo much of it was essentially an updated cliff notes version of Stephen King's/John Carpenter's Christine.
Why haven't reviewers focused on how much of that story is the basic framework of Halloween Ends? ;)

The issue with sequels is the many continuity the flaws David Gordon Green did exactly what no one other John Carpenter attempt to do. Story wise you can only do so much with Micheal Myers then after awhile it becomes redundant in terms of being a standard slasher. Removing what makes Michael Myers scary gone are days of suspense and well crafted story of Good vs Evil he was never supernatural was I upset that Micheal Myers was less on screen the answer is no. Had Corey not try to kill Laurie and survived the bodies at the junkyard would've been blamed on Michael Myers the surveillance footage would showed Micheal and not Corey.

First was that in the original trailer that was released, you see a whole left hand opening the door, even though Michael's left hand was missing two fingers after the events in 2018. Also, you had Jamie Lee Curtis in an interview saying that the movie opens with every parent's worst nightmare. So, before the movie was even released, we know that there is somebody else other than Michael, and we know that something was going to happen to that little brat at the beginning.

He felt like a threat who was constantly lurking just out of view. You don't get that feeling in Halloween Ends because we don't even catch up with him until 40 minutes into the movie, and then it still spends its time focused on Corey. Michael isn't a main character or main antagonist at all. He doesn't feel like a looming threat to fear or be concerned about.

David has spoken on all this stuff a long time ago, far back as 2017 before the first film.
Some fans just dont bother to find anything outside of the movie itself or think past their own opinions.
Far as the original plan, he explained that too...
"When we were writing Kills and Laurie was bedridden because she would be because she's been stabbed in the belly a few times, I knew we needed to make a time jump. Or we decided after thinking about it. There was a period of time where it was gonna be all one linear continuous type of movie. But then how are you gonna get this climactic battle out of her? "
Exactly! Kills made it a point to show her surgery and how she went down and busted her stitches after
a short tussle with a doctor in the hallway. Basically saying to us the audience
"no, she's in no shape to fight Michael TONIGHT"

I loved 2018 and kills but ends didn’t feel like the same universe I just don’t see why you make such a big change in the last film of the trilogy and I was hoping that ends would be back to basics like in the original where most screan time is just him in the shadows and see how everyone is falling apart due to fear which ends did kinda do but the focus should have been on Laurie and Allyson not some random guy. That we never saw before. I think ends presented good ideas but was executed poorly and it would have been something better to do after Michael died and it be like when one evil dies another’s rises. It’d make more sense and easier to follow end’s made things too complicated and it just wasn’t good so to sum my pov I think they should have done this film a lot like the original but also focus more on Michaels effects on everyone and play on that Michael is always watching and can strike at any time. And then you could have done something similar to ends as a mini series or something but I’m glad there’s people who were able to enjoy the film but I couldn’t enjoy the film even as a hardcore fan and watching it a number of times I just can’t come to terms with it it’s just not that good and I get a headache every time I watch it because for me it was just not good but I’m glad other people were able to enjoy it

You got me thinking...and I'm on board with what you are saying about "Ends" and Cory, and after listening to you point it out very astutely, each movie in the final trilogy did do something different each time-for better or worse. But thinking back on Halloween 78 (after of course the retcon ditching Michael as Lori's brother) and what you are saying about how evil begins represented by Cory's character in Ends, it seems one could talk about the randomness of evil and how it affects the innocent. Lori is innocent teen that has a terrorizing experience and what it did to her over her life, in contrast with Cory as the innocent experiencing Michael and what we might assume is his pathway after his experience. Something akin to evil and its influences on humankind for better and worse. Lori moved forward and tried her best to get by even though we know she had many issues (with good cause), but she fought the evil. Cory is on the opposite side and gave in to the evil and he paid the price for that. Maybe ultimately it's a cautionary tale in the sense of the overarching battle of good against evil. You can fight it but with much suffering and pain over a lifetime that is difficult but you can come out the other side and move forward (I believe Michael's death offers that to Lori and we get that tidbit at movie's end), or you can choose to succumb to the evil but always it seems with the direst of consequences--and you don't have to wait and struggle a lifetime.

They didn't try something different, it was already suggested at the end of Halloween 4 that Michael's evil could be transferred into someone else and the Producer's cut of Halloween 6 suggested the same thing, they just spent 90% of Ends run time focusing on that and it was a complete failure! The marketing was very deceptive and I do think Universal should answer for it!

The issue with movies like this is the writer's make it about themselves, not the established fanbase. Keep it simple. By changing so much of what makes it Halloween, you lose your established audience. Look at Halloween 3, look at Jason Goes To Hell etc.

We won't get though this in an afternoon. But the simplified answer in my opinion is this. Focusing on H ENDS, this how I see it. Evil can not just die. And even when it's time in nearing its end, it can only "leave" when a battered and vulnerable (preferably someone who was kind and had the potential for a lot of good), cries and pleads to the dying evil: "Get up! Show me how to do it!" 🤔

Curiously, I've never seen Halloween III because it follows a different narrative. That being said, John Carpenter has specifically stated that Halloween (1978) is about "evil" and the fact that it never goes way. Viewed from that perspective, Halloween Ends is aligned with that trajectory. I also like watching movies that I haven't seen before (from a plot perspective), so kudos to the filmmakers for trying something unique as opposed to remaking Halloween (2018). I tried so hard to like this movie. I've re-watched it probably 5x. The story they'd built up in the first 2 did not correlate to the 3rd. It was advertised as one thing and we got something completely different with a 5 minute struggle at the end. I've heard people bring up Michael's screen time in the original was less than Ends but the difference is in the original you knew he was there even when he was off screen. That was definitely not the case here. Overall was a huge disappointment for me.

"THE fans were right!" about what exactly?
Those of us who dont have these issues with the film aren't fans?
As DGG said in 2017, no matter what they do, a section of the fans wont like it,
Ends was approached no different than the other two.
Im fine with people not liking the movies but all this "THE fans dont like it"
rhetoric is disingenuous and turning the fandom into what the Star Wars fandom has become.
DGG already explained this before Danny said this:
"There was a discussion and even through the editing process.
Because you could take certain scenes from earlier and move them around. It just felt right.
Maybe I'll watch it in two years and think that's too long a gap,
but it was important to me to develop characters and understand them
in their own way and then introduce how Michael relates to that situation.
Because he's so exciting when you see him. Myers just gets people shaking.
I was worried that was going to distract from the substance of the Corey/Allyson story as it was developing. "
Far as the Ends marketing, they releases the synopsis with the trailer
and SOME fans watched it a million times and never read the synopsis attached.

I agree that it would have been better had Corey been introduced in an earlier film, but I honestly would have made more sense if Allyson would have been the one to go psycho. It would have been a good call back to her clutching the knife at the end of Halloween 2018, and it would have been a great homage to Jamie going nuts at the end of Halloween 4.

  • @Butwhythough881
    @Butwhythough881 10 місяців тому

Personally, Corey as a character isn’t the problem for me. The problem was him being the copycat killer when in reality there was already a character that could’ve worked really well as the new killer in this movie: Allyson.
Allyson in this movie treats Laurie like shit and blames her for Michael tyranny and her friends and mom’s deaths but what if it went beyond that? What if after the events of Kills, she continued her hunt for Michael with a few surviving people affected by the events of ‘18 and Kills where they find and succeed in killing Michael?
Allyson could take his mask but soon begins to have visions of Michael as the evil takes over her, but instead she tries to control it and use it against and attack other “evil” people, leading to her also being overprotective of her friends, mainly Corey, and soon gets Laurie’s attention whom Allyson has a grudge against.
This would honestly not only make Haddonfield blaming Laurie feel more believable, because it indirectly turned her own family into her monster, but it also allows the film to put another unique spin on the final trope.

After watching every Halloween film, I think Michael being the 'embodinent of evil' is a bit out of character for him. And while yes, Dr Loomis did view Michael as 'evil', but then again it was from his point of view and his view only. And if you look at it, Michael is not necessarily good nor evil, he is simply death incarnate. Death in living flesh. He doesn't laugh or do a mustache twirl everytime he takes a life. He doesn't say anything nor even react to anything. He is simply death. The reason why Michael doesn't run after his victims and takes his time with them as he's slowly walking towards them is because he is inevitable. You can't run from death and you can't fight death. That's what makes Michael Myers scary. Whatever damage he takes, he'll sit back up and won't stop until you're dead

    • @TheNightwatchZone
      @TheNightwatchZone  Місяць тому

Well said 👍💯 I agree that Michael is inevitable. Truly death in the flesh. He isn't fully human in the way we define it. This is a big reason why his mythology is so interesting. • @callmestorm23
      @callmestorm23 Місяць тому +1

@@TheNightwatchZone This is why I think they should do is continue this existing Halloween timeline and bring Michael back as a zombie. Jason Voorhees style. As soon as the town of Haddonfield becomes aware that a man in the Myers mask is on a killing spree, they fuck off! They don't fight em like in Halloween Kills, they just fuck right off. And what Allison sees is a massive traffic jam out of Haddonfield. Allison stays behind with her new friends and decides to fight this killer head-on. Only to realize that it is Michael Myers. I think it would make for an amazing setting if Allison and her friends (ex cops/hunters/ex soldiers) fight Zombie Michael in a ghost town. It would also be cool if Allison and her friends goes on a mystery journey to uncover more mystery behind Michael and find any clues to why Michael keeps coming back.
I think a movie like this should take place 4 or 5 years after Halloween Ends, and Laurie dies in the hospital of an illness like Cancer for example, but before she passes away, the town of Haddonfield reveal a statue of her in the town square.

@@TheNightwatchZone Thing is, you could go in any direction with a movie like that. What would be cool is Allison and her friends discovering old tapes of Dr Loomis saying that there is no way of killing Michael permanently. With Allison and her friends realizing the danger they're in, they decide to go out in a blaze of glory and take the fight to the Angel of Death himself, Michael Myers. So they setup traps all around the ghost town of Haddonfield and use the environment to their advantage while Michael is stalking them in the shadows like an apex predator. This could to an insane conflict between Allison's group and Michael fighting all over the town and then it could escalate to the military getting involved. They gun down Michael and then he immediately regenerates himself, sits up and walks forward to the military soldiers while carrying a gigantic scythe. They torch him and set him to a blaze, but he still marches forward. They decide to go all in and rain fire on Michael, as the whole town of Haddonfield becomes a raging inferno. The camera cuts to all of Haddonfield set to a blaze. Houses, buildings, the memorial statue of Laurie Strode, etc. All set to a blaze. The soldiers, alongside Allison and her friends enter the fiery town to look for any remains of Michael, until he picks them off one by one. Allison remains as the sole survivor. Blooded, battered and legit crawling on the street to exist the town, while Michael slowly and methodically walks towards her, dragging his blooded scythe. Michael stops Allison in her tracks and gives her a little head tilt. In an act of defiance, she spits blood in his face and tells him, "I'm not afraid." As Michael stomps on her head like a pumpkin. The movie ends with a burnt and reformed Michael Myers walking into the darkness (dragging his scythe) as Haddonfield burns to the ground, with the classic Halloween score playing in the background

Respectfully...it sounds like some folks had to dig to the bottom of the barrel to try and find something to "like" about this movie. Nobody seems to have in mind the fact that every single time the franchise tried to dive too deep into that whole psychological, occult, curse aspect, it wasn't recieved well by fans (with the exception H4). As a die hard fan of this franchise, i feel that i can constructively say that the psychological storyline has never been properly executed with this franchise, from the half-ass Curse of Thorn storyline, to the psychological connection between Mike and Laurie that Rob Zombie introduced his re-imagining of H2.
The reason why these were so poorly recieved is because Halloween, although it does touch on the effects of trauma, is a slasher film. It is a staple in the slasher genre. That will always be the biggest highlight for the franchise.
Now, we had H4 that really started getting into that whole "evil being tranferred" thing with Jamie. And you know what, it wasnt bad, especially with it ending on the possibility that Jamie could be the next killer. But, 5 and 6 didnt deliver on that possibility, which was a waste.
It seems Halloween Ends tried ti give us that aspect again, and it COULD have worked....had they NOT scrapped the OG characters for this new trilogy. Dont get me wrong, Halloween 2018 came woth gusto, and i adore it...but i never liked that they took away the "brother/sister" relationship between Mike and Laurie. It sort of left 'Ends' and 'Kills' hanging. If Ends was gonna go with the tranferring of evil, then the familial storyline to Halloween should have been kept, that way they could use a descendant of Michael instead of some random guy. This would have given them more room to maneuver the story. They could have even used some of those cool flashbacks from 'Kills'to go back further to the night Mike killed Judith. What triggered it? What was his parents response to Judiths death? Where was Laurie?
Otherwise, the trilogy should have remained as a one night event, no time jumps and no long, dry, drawn out, forced love story.

Halloween Ends-five years after Halloween Kills Laurie and her granddaughter have moved away to a small secluded town in upstate New York attempting to live normal low key lives now. Laurie teaches part time adults at night school as well as she helps to run a twelve step program for recovering alcoholics. Alyson finishes her college studies and becomes a nurse at the local community hospital. She meets a fellow nurse and kindred spirit in Corey who is a survivor of violence as well. They bond and begin dating forging a normal life together. A strange homeless man wanders the city all day searching for scraps in Haddonfield he lives in a giant water filtration tunnel under a bridge roaming the city freely in search of food and supplies. On Halloween night he by chance encounters Lindsay tending bar at a nearby dive not too far from where this man’s water tunnel. He recognizes her immediately as she starts to toss multiple bags of garbage in the large garbage bin out behind the bar. The tall lean homeless scruffy man steps deeper into the shadows to retrieve something in his knapsack it’s the familiar pale emotionless white face of death. He also removes his hoodie and a large kitchen knife from his knapsack. Michael watches Lindsay but before he can strike her cell goes off he hesitates while she speaks. He wants to kill her as she’s one that got away he steps from the shadows but suddenly freezes in place as she smiles Laurie! Oh my God I haven’t heard from you in years it’s Halloween night what are you doing now, where do you live? Michael breaths through the mask and hears Lindsay repeat you’re in upstate New York in a small town called Widow’s Peak just you and Alyson. Lindsay laughed yes I would love to visit maybe in a month or two I can drive up there and catch up….she talks for a bit laughing then says her goodbye. Lindsay places the cell into her pocket and tosses another bag into the bin. When she turns to grab the last bag she starts to cry and panic. Fuck I knew you’d still be out there looking for us. She reaches for a small pistol in a concealed hip holster and manages to squeeze a shot off the round catches Michael in the left shoulder as he rushes forward stabbing Lindsay multiple times in her chest and upper torso. She dies eyes wide open staring at the shape who kneels down searching her pockets. He removes her keys clicks the alarm to a modest Ford pick up and gets in the car. He drives off into the night getting on the interstate freeway the sign above reads Widow’s Peak 220 miles. This is unfinished business and he’s prepared to finish it once and for all….
