- For the better part of 400 years people have searched the deep canyons & towering ice peaks of these mist-covered cloud forests trying to locate the lost cities of the Inca. They were all after one thing; gold. Any gold would do but there was one thing desired above all others, the Great Golden Disc of the Sun. The most sacred of all Inca relics. The Inca Holy Grail. It is in search of this Holy Grail that David Adams goes on his journey to Puncuyoc, sacred Sister City of Machu Picchu; the city sought but never found by Hiram Bingham.

This video is testament to the depth to which greed of the Europeans went and testament to the will of the Inca people to beat them.

Despicable. Sad.
Even without any human sacrifice
Gold gave them the excuse.

The only problem is we do not know if that treasure ever existed or not, we do not know it it was taken back to spain or the ship was sunken, we do not know if the treasure is underground or lost somewhere... In order to get such treasure with countless possibilities we need something more advanced or maybe a x-ray of earth itself😅
Hahaha. What hunt? It was melted by the Spaniards turned into ingots, shipped to Spain and the ship carrying its treasure along with the golden sun disc was sunk by the Dutch.

Why if the Inca say man was created in their area of astounding construction not be considered as true as when mainstream sa man originated in Africa.?
I think it's just as plausible the Inca origin creation story as any other theory of man's beginnings as after all theire must be more than one starting point of man
Why does mainstream cling hopelessly to the silly notion of one point of origin for man and the impossible trek of the Bering Strait migration theory thru some ice free corridor an arduous trek even for today's modern healthy man never mind entire primitive families and clans Why so obtuse so tenacious do they hold to this African origin theory of man? They're quite similar to the hebrews
The Sun Disc was either taken by the Spanish invaders and broken down a melted.
Or the the Europeans that rediscovered the room of gold took it and realized the couldn't tell anyone about having it due to its historical significance
Maybe since they knew the Spanish were after anything gold and it was a very sacred object to them, they buried it or dropped in one of the many cave pools used for rebirth rituals.
@@capucine2347 Yea, German's or the French would have been better.
O
Yes probably melted down... Spanish didn`t care about its significance; they never did. They were not archaeologists. They destrouyed anything pagan to them in Peru., even the Inca manuscripts. They also probably stripped all the sites cos the sites were problby covered in gold also...That is why some of the sites dont make any sense cos just bare stones but make sense if covered in gold with gold statues in the niches etc. Only other poassibility that it is at the bottom of the ocean somewhere in a Spanish wreck. There is a Spanisj galleon captured by the French at the bottom of the St. Lawrence River mud. Location unknown. Reported being there in the French archives by Biggar and Goodwin
It's in the Vatican basement 🤣🤣
The Inca's have the disc and they will NEVER show it to anyone because it would only be stolen...

We can dream…
Mysterious Cities of Gold brought me here circa 1989
@Tut Frut that's absurd
I have been to these places and, since I have friends in Peru that I visit, I'll be going back. All I can say is plan for the altitude! I had hiked volcanoes in Costa Rica and very high peaks in Europe. But Cusco kicked my ass and I felt drunk the entire time I was there. Drank a lot of coca tea and then hallucinated pretty things every time I closed my eyes. Of course, it was 4 months after major surgery (at age 53). But what the heck, I'll be trying it again, but this time with some Diamox tablets.
Did the cocoa tea make you high? Hehehe
@@richardhowe5583 No. You can drink a quart of it and still pass a drug test. It takes a lot of processing to make cocaine. It was a combo of the altitude and the coca tea, and I suspect also the local herb sorojchi, widely sold in pharmacies. None of those should make a person high, but for whatever reason I got pretty visions.
Hi Josi, I have hiked the Inca trail up to the Sungate and down into Machu Picchu. I did pretty well overall but I was younger than you when I went. There is one 12,000' pass that really kicked my butt. It was like 4-6 steps and stop and breathe, 4-6 steps, stop and breathe some more. The Porters are simply amazing athletes!

Yup. Just like in Canada. There are almost no trees left anywhere, except for a ribbon on both sides of the highways, so that tourists will THINK that there are miles of wilderness.
I've seen all of northern Canada by airplane. There was nothing but clearcuts, for as far as the eye could see, all across the north, for the entire day that it took to fly over it. I was SO SHOCKED and broken hearted! The forests do not exist anymore.
Machu Pichu was not built by the Inca they built on top of structures that were already there

They find them everyday with lidar. Pretty amazing actually
What amazes me is how much forest there still is when they built a city of gold and jewels. I wonder how much wood there was during that time.
Cloud forests are interesting in that every day the plants gather moisture from the passing clouds. This makes them grow very well at that altitude. It must have been amazing though to be the first ones there.
In reality there is no such city of gold, bcoz gold is a soft metal. The spaniards were fooled.

You know the Spanish have still not to this day, publicly apologised to the Inca or Mayan peoples for their intentional destruction, and seem to still hold Cortez up with admiration, when in reality his reputation should be looked at critically and scornfully, inside Spain. Even when suggested to discuss it at all, Spanish Prime Ministers have either sloughed it off as unimportant, or literally say "too bad, we are proud of our history".
Does Spain still see a positive in being a colonial, tyrannical, murderous, thieving, genocidal empire?
Seems to be so.
Their economic strength today is grounded on this long history of simple, literal theft.
Their power today is literally based on the gold they stole from others, which they could only take if they utterly destroyed empires older than themselves, and the Spanish as a society will not take responsibility for that in any way.
All this happened in the 1500's, when people were moderately aware that this kind of behaviour was morally wrong,
not in Alexander the Great, Caesarian or Chingis Khan ancient history days when such actions were not thought of as negative ... Spain knew better, but did it anyway.
Its time for them to be called out and challenged on their history.
Other empires of old have done so around the world,
Its Spains turn.
Should you apologize for the crimes of your grandfather?
@@tempestnz1 - in a word, culturally? yes
Canada and Australia have formally apologised to their respective indigenous cultures, Japan formally apologised to China ,,, thteres many more examples of when a society has realised it did wrong and has taken that responsibility.

When exploring a new place and you want to find out how wide it is, bring a drone that way its easier to see the vastness of the place even if its covered in bushes and jungles
At least you know which part of the place you are in.

One can only imagine what kind of civilization would have emerged if the Inca had acquired metal work skills and gun powder prior the Spanish fiasco.
I would recommend you to read the novel "Civilizations", by French author Laurent Binet if you are interested in the topic. he reimagines an Incan Empire with guns and horses that invades Europe! very creative
@@kalilzaidan Or take it a step farther..."West of Eden" by Harry Harrison is about an Earth where the dinosaurs weren't wiped out, and they are the ones to reach the civilization level before some upstart mammals called humans.
Unfortunately, North and South America were perpetually stuck in a semi-stone age existence. Similar to the primitive existence of several Sub-Saharan areas in Africa today.
@@themobseat That's basically incorrect. North and South America had some cities which were as big or bigger than any European city of the same time period. When a dirty Hernan Cortes and his rabble entered the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan on November 8th, 1519...the city had a population of at least 200,000...5 times the size of London, and they had a water system as good as any the Romans ever built, and twice daily trash collection.
The Maya had a mathematical and astronomical knowledge which out classed that of Europe of the same age, and many cultures in the New World had expertise in monumental stone architecture. Metal work in gold alloys, and some copper work show they had categorically moved past the stone age, and the complexity of societies in the New World show they were not living a "primitive existence". The story of sub-Saharan Africa has many similarities to the New World, in that there were complex societies, who made it to the level of producing iron...again, significantly past the "stone age", but were decimated by later contact with European colonialist and the diseases they spread.
@@themobseat not at all, and may be it could be better ...in fact what we are living to day , the "modern life," is not a good example of "evolution"...

Seeking the gold, as it was mention in the first few verses of Genises. Nothing new under the sun.
The great golden disc of the sun has probably been taken under the Andes by the Inca king, just before the Spanish soldiers came back to massacre everybody after they discovered so much gold. I don't remember where I read this. William Landig ? Jan van Helsing ?
I just can't believe this guy's went all the way there looking for gold without a metal detector...what a waist of time.

Do they really sacrifice virgin? Why you wipe them out and take there gold?
I was in Peru in 1975, searching for oil. I meet a young old Indian man, who told me about
