Excellent conversation. I have collected and played through tons of rack gear over the years but it's still my greatest joy to play through my 1983 Deluxe Reverb II which I do almost every day. Thanks for producing such a great amp during your time at Fender.

Please do more of these, regularly. This was amazing, to hear all about Paul Jr's growing up in the thick of all the design and work that made the amps, to hear the history of it, and everything else. I had no idea Fender fired Paul, talk about short-sighted on their part. It was also great to hear a bit about the steps that are between a design on paper ( or napkin!) and a product, the matching parts and talking to cabinet makers and all that.
Around 1986 or 87 there was a guy on my ship when I was in the Navy. One day I was talking about looking forward to the day I get out of the Navy and I could buy (and store) a bigger amp than what I could have on the ship for when I practiced. He said, "my cousin makes amps you should get one of his. They're great. he really knows what he's doing." I asked the name of the company and FC3 Rivera told me "Rivera" . I said OK, I'm buying a Rivera when I get out. So, I was loyal to Rivera before I even saw an amp in real life. At the time my amp was a small Harvard Reverb II which I didn't even know was one of Paul's designs. It would be a numbers of years and a degree and "real" job before I could even think about it, but I finally got my 55W Knucklehead amp and matching 2-12" cabinet and was in love.
I also have a Fandango 55W combo, and when I called in to your shop to ask about some mods that the original (or at least a previous) owner had done, to see if you had done them or not, I learned that the chassis for the amp was born when Prince called in and wanted an amp. I was assured also that it is very likely that along the way he probably wanted certain customizations that would have meant he ended up with a different amp. While I was glad that the amp then wasn't like stolen from Prince, the Amp has every right to be disappointed with that change in fate.

Thanks to Paul sr. and Jr. on this conversation, about how the TBR Series was "born" and developed at Fender, beginning of the eighties. For me ,the Rivera affection, started with an used TBR 1 in 1995.Owning a dream amp came through and i still love the piece.More and different Rivera amps were acquired during the years, till now:M-60 4 × 10" combo(updated the speakers with 2 Celestion Alnico Gold and 2 Weber Alnico California),a M 60 1 × 12"( with Jensen Alnico Blackbird 100),Bonehead (signed by Steve Lukather) with matching cabinet,Knucklehead reverb 55 with a K312 cab,Knucklehead reverb 100,3 TBR 5 320 Hammerhead poweramps,a Rockcrusher Recording and some small stuff like a RRD Super Sink and a BUF 2.
Last weekend, the circle was completed, when i bought a Fender Princeton Reverb 2(first owner, very good original condition and with users manual),which speaker is now changed to an old Altec 417(great sounding).
