@guitarreilly As a pure fingerstyle guitarist Adam has just recently become a fingerstyle player and is still working on it. As an overall guitarist and in particular harmonically Adam is in another league. As a jazz player there is no comparison, as an ensemble player in a jazz group there is no comparison and as a single line player there is no comparison. Why can't Tommy just be a great fingerstyle player in the footsteps of Chet Atkins.No he is not technically superior to " any guitarist"
@leoosiku ok seriously watch them play toghther doyle plays the same solos tommy just makes it up by ear thats more jazz and technically he is better he can play thumb pick just fingers or hybrid doyle can only play with the thumb pick

@guitarreilly Well I guess everyone else is wrong. Tommy is a geat fingerstyle player...get it. To start saying someone is the greatest is comical. And to go off a video count is childish. I guess Martha Stewart who has sold more books than VS Naipul is a better writer. Tommys music is very accesible hence a wider popularity base. You must be young.. I hope so. My following post has a list of other guitar players who are incredible and guess what?
@guitarreilly I greatly respect Tommys playing but lets not go off the deep end. Tommy plays great but his soloing is not his strong point nor is his harmonic concept. But that is fine. He is a great fingerstylist that plays tunes that are very accesible to a great number of people and he plays them very very well, has a great career. Go check out Adam Rafferty if you want to see some one who can go at the highest levels of jazz improv or sit down and play great fingerstyle at caas.
Ok so what that his style we are all different David Gilmour is in another train yet i like pink better than this guy don't complain you have talent too.

"technically superior"? There are a million jazz and classical guitarists who are probably technically superior, and then there are players like Guthrie Govan and Shawn Lane. Why even argue about it? It's OK to like all of them. You don't even know what Doyle or other folks have aside from their show sets. Neither do I.
A stellar exhibition of skill. Doyle is a true master at his craft.
I have seen several videos featuring him,and still he never ceases to amaze me. He's so gifted and talented it just isn't fair!!!!
