Beneath the glam and glitz was a f**king hard rock band of the best quality
This live version takes this metal beauty of a song to the next next level. SWEET PERFECTION.
I love Sweet! Sweet should be in the rock and roll Hall of Fame!!!! 💋🎤🎵🎸🥁🎶
Absolutely right !!
They had to make room for Joan Jett and Tupac
They have to redefine what rock is ya know? So their activist curator can stuff the ballot box with Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Biggie Smalls.
How do they get nominated for the rrhof!?
Agree, and disagree; they deserve to be, and yet the RnRHoF is also a crock of shit.
A four-piece heavy metal orchestra. Fucking brilliant.
Sweet was one of the most under appreciated bands ever but yet was one of the most talented for instrumental and vocal bands of the mid 70's.
Hands down the most Criminally underrated band of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blame the UK market at the time....Radar Love is in there..we just got the pop, this proves they were a rock band. AS WERE Spectrum who did vocals on Capt Scarlet.. my band warmed up for them at a town hall and they rocked..costumes and light show..surprisingly good. Andy Bown warming up for The Faces in Edmonton Nth London got their biggest applause for the Tarot tv theme they did, surprised them..all these good bands,,
Love Sweet, but B.O.C takes the underrated title, imho. Lol peace.
Boy nearly every single reached nr1 in Germany
yep their management were greedy,,not the sweet;s fault x
dadadruma Marcopoulos No Fanny is the most underrated. Those ladies should have been huge stars. Sweet wasn’t the same after Brian’s throat was kicked in. He’s having trouble singing live here.
They could have been the biggest band in the world. Such raw, powerful and evocative talent.
After watching this I now realize The Sweet were actually a 5 piece band because Mick counts as 2 people. Incredible!
He sure does! Doing that many things at 1 time and doing them well. That's our Mick. ❤❤
You got it!! What a great comment! I witnessed these shows live. Lucky enough to have been alive back then and a huge Sweet fan.Buffalo- ‘76. Philly’76- Conn.’77- Hardford -‘78. As a trio in Jersey ‘79. Then as a duo and finally just Andy in NYC in which I left heartbroken. But D’genaration kicked major ass that night. The mantle had been passed. Some things should die when it’s time. For it was not just a name of a band. It was the four guys I knew and loved.
@@ronnieacerra1382 Andy Scott supported D-Generation?? Cool!.. Why did it leave you heartbroken though?
you nailed it on the head
He really earns his money on this song. I had no idea he played the tubular bells (that's what they are, right?). If you didn't see it, you wouldn't believe it. Spectacular performance by everyone in the band, but Mick is the standout here.
Mick Tucker one of the most underrated drummers ever
Timothy Jay you can tell Tommy Lee was a huge fan of Mick, big influence on the Too Fast for Love and Dr. Feelgood albums
Tucker with "ck"
Couldn't agree more!!! Fantastic drummer.
My wife just spent a great deal of money on an autograph from Andy Scott. I'm traditionally not a crier but, embarrassingly, it made me cry. No one has ever given me something so personal that I wanted so bad. I'm so lucky to have seen them live.
You're even luckier to have such a thoughtful wife. I'm envious that you got to see them live, though.
Did you see the original line-up or that horrible incarnation that Scott aligns himself with now?
@@steve_bal4 Original. I think around 1979 or so. Give or take.
the song is legendary hard-rock classic of SWEET ... forever... and ever SWEET...
Bloody hell. 45 years ago and still sounds great.
fantastic!!!
Pure magic!!!
I believe the SWEET will be the reason for inventing a real time machine. Some future genius super fan will want see them play live. I hope that he reads this comment and swings by to pick me up on the way. Best band in History!
I'm 56 years old, was around when Sweet was still cranking out radio-friendly singles. I had NO idea they could play like this. Feels like I just discovered a new band. This is ridiculously good.
I'm 60 and got all their records I KNEW . But l thought why am I the only one that felt that way. Now with the internet I realise that I'm one of many.
Me toooo same age. Saw them hi lighted on UA-cam’s Professor of rock and now I’ve gone down the Sweet rabbit hole for days now. Can’t get enough. Love ❤️❤️
The BEST !!!
@tmx63 Same here! I had NO IDEA they could play like this. I bought all their singles. I can see the influence of The Who and Queen. Ahead of their time.
Same here! I had no clue about this side of them. Every song I discover is awesome. My husband says I’m obsessed. Maybe. 😉
We want SWEET for Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 🇬🇧❣️💞
Waaay ahead of their time... this band should have been HUGE in America.
If they emerged in the 1980s they undoubtedly would have...Def Leppard and Muttley Crud stole huge chunks from the Sweet sound.
My favourite band of the 70's. Damn good muso's in their own right! Loved Mick Tucker on drums!!! So sad that Brian and Mick passed away... RIP Gentlemen and thanks for memories and the songs!
Their mastery over their instruments is simply amazing!
Wow...There is not much Live Sweet stuff out there but this is Bloody Fantastic...These guys musically were as good as Zeppelin...Brilliant Drummer , Brilliant Guitarist, Brilliant Bass Guitarist and Brilliant Vocals :)
evel knievel fully agree
Way better than Led Zeppelin
@@Brewzerr that's a stretch. Good players fursure but Zeppelin basically created the genre
@@mustangjusty3772 What genre?
2018 Sony released Sweet Live in the UK 1973 - it's the whole gig from Rainbow.
I wish to hear more material from 1973-76.
OH MY OH MY! This is the first time in my entire long life I can see these dudes do their job alive! Can't believe how much was great! They rock!
can't stop listening album
❤
Ich liebe diesen Song....🎧❤️👏
Sweet for Ever
Way ahead of their time! Awesome band!!
This gig as a whole is very possibly the best UA-cam upload ever. No other has brought me more joy since it was uploaded. So much love! ❤❤❤
True, I come back to listen to this again and again. Peace and love
Totally agree. So happy I found these live songs. Didn't even know Sweet had this sound. Love it!!!
Agree 100%. Best videos ever. Keeping the music alive.
Same here
Amen to that!!!!
Didn't know sweet members knew how to play so many different types of instraments very talented group
Talented Band All Around
This were the real SWEET!
This band is awesome
Jesus Christ. I was 8 when this came out and im listening to it for the first time as a 52 year old and its driving me wild ! Bloody awesome !!
Friggin Monsters. How they faded into the mist as a 70's Glam Band is criminal. So good! German TV. Got a taste of what they were up against. Eat your heart out Scorpions.
Always loved The Sweet. These guys can rock! Tucker is one of my fav drummers too - SO underrated.
Great song. Great band.
Phenomenal !!!
These guys were brilliant 👌
Sweet-Music never dies... 🎶🎸🎤🥁🎶
Thank you guys for your fantastic Sweet-Sound 😘😘😘
Замечательно обалденно и просто КЛАССНО!!!
Terribly underated. They were on the forefront of glam, metal, punk, progressive, etc. The give us a wink album is a true masterpiece. I admit; some of their ' fairy pop princess' vocals still make my skin crawl. But for every 'Lady Starlight', there's a 'keep it in' or 'cockroach'. Brilliant musicians ahead of their time.
They came into my life (in1974) like a cockroach but I luv them. 📻🎵🎵🎵
One of the bests, no doubt! They influenced Slade, Queen, Kiss, etc.
Sweet was great as great can be.
So talented! I love Sweet!! 🎶🎸🎶
Класс!Sweet- великолепная команда!
Bravo Musikladen ! Bravo The SWEET
Andy Scott is so underrated as a guitarist.
Him and Mick Tucker were both very, very tidy musicians and in another lifetime could have been huge mega stars in the business and household names had they had been in a Zeppelin, a Queen etc etc I agree with the comments saying they are so underrated .. but hey, thanks to youtube more and more are hearing how influential and maybe ahead of their time they were
AGREED!!!
Joseph Bruno que bueno q así sea
@@youandwhosearmy6339 As a a group.....excellent!!
Angus Young was influenced from Scott, Townsed and Page.
My favorite song by The Sweet. Adore these guys so damn much. Thank you all for the amazing music that has changed me significantly. Especially my #1 hero, Mick Tucker. ❤️🤘
I agree 100% SWEET have been a HUGE musical impact on me and Mick still to this day blows me away with his drumming and drum parts. RIP BC,MT,ST thank you for all the amazing music. Thank you to AS for continuing to carry on the Sweet music and legacy! You guys really created magic together!
This is amazing footage.
Они лучшие! Точка. They are the best of all!
Awesome,awesome,awesome!Love that band!
I love this band!!!
Andy Scott can make those strings sing,Loved Mick Tucker.
Sweet we’re legendary..
Sweet band is amazing!
I've Been waiting for this for decades!
these guys are freaking kick ass
I love Sweet. Mick,, Bryan, Steve and Andy.
This band Sweet was so out in front!!! They would kick asss today!!!
my god, this band should have been huge....I might get crucified for saying this but I can't see where Zeppelin, Queen, the Stones or even the Beatles have a thing over these guyz....so many styles, so much energy, and stage presents its insane that they are so so so underated
Totally right! who knew... I cant believe I missed these guys in the 70's
I was a big fan of them in the seventies and still am. I knew they were the best then and still are now! But I didn't realise how totally before their time they were with the hard rock stuff till later.
unfortunately as you can see from one of Mick's interviews they were poised for even greater success but at a particular tour supporting Bob Seger Brian was on medication and struggling with alcohol and their were a lot of record company bosses there and they basically did not get the kudos they deserved nor the signing....
Luke St. John What are you talking about they where huge!!By 1975 they had sold 14 million albums and now its probably around 100-150 mil!
They were huge in the UK in the glam era. I mean they were superstars.
desolation boulevard was a marker stone. serious hybrid between punk, disco and heavy metal. landmark
I don't hear the disco part of it.
@@Brewzerr How about "funk"? That work better?
Still in shock watcin dvd of this lost performance. I feel young again!!
Still excellent and innovative after half a century. Thank you Steve and Andy to keep the Sweet spirit alive anno 2020
Steve R.I.P
Amazing!!
Astounding musicianship. I am flabbergasted. Again, a privilege to witness this recording.
As an American kid in the 70's I always loved it when Ballroom Blitz or Love is Like Oxygen came on the radio. But until I started watching the clips from this Musikladen show I never realized Sweet could rock so hard! Do they have any bad songs? I don't think I've heard one yet! Thanks Andy!
+BeerCanRich 99 I think the worst song was Alexander Graham Bell but that was an early Chinn & Chapman one.
+Helen the raver Oooh, I have to agree with you there--I'm not too fond of that one either! : (
+Andy'sLadyStarlight No it's an odd song but i like it more after watching the video !But thank goodness for Alex G B, broadband, UA-cam & this Channel so we can watch our fave band!!
Helen B That one is ok. Jeanie or Peppermint twist or Coco, those are the ones i wish had never happened lol
Didi Bolter I like Fox on the Run, it’s their song. It also makes my eyes happy to see Brian do whatever, even to hear him sing whatever, but they’re a rock band, they were too good for pop hit records. It hurts my ears to hear them play Coco when I know they can play Set Me Free
You can tell they are a very happy band....F****** Awesome
Sweet forever rocks and rocks hard...xo
A most underrated band saw them a couple of times amazing music
Damn, Excellent!
Musical bliss... Mick with total mastery on drums... Andy ditto on guitar... Rock at it's finest in it's heyday.
This is when 4 masterminds get together and there is no stopping them for a decade. Sweet made my life worth living when I was a kid and I remember my first copy of the American version of Desolation Boulevard in 1989. It was so happy a year and that year Sweet helped me so much. I was 13 then. 10 years later I found out my biggest hero Brian was dead. I was mortified. I still am and then Mick. Basically, Sweet for me is like Badfinger for me- their musical genius lives on despite ill advised life decisions and mortality, but it leaves me with a lot of grief to think they are no longer around. Rest In peace Brian Connolly and Mick Tucker may your music be with us forever.
Well said. Now sadly we have to say goodbye to Steve also. It's now up to Andy to keep the fire burning.
Amazing !!!!!!!! X Andy Scott .....wowwww xx
OMG. I even heard Eddie van Halen in the ending guitar solo of Solid God Brass. These guys must have influenced generations of musicians. Love this band.
A most impressive live performance, many of the other videos I’ve watched have the band lip syncing which is a terrible shame because this clearly demonstrates how talented they were both as musicians and vocalists. The guitar wasn’t always front and center of their sound but Andy Scott shows that he is quite a capable and accomplished guitarist. I love the prog rock elements in this song. And as always their sound is underpinned by the rhythm section, Mick Tucker’s percussion here doesn’t take a backseat to any of his peers.
An extreme kind of awesome indeed,,,
Thanks for posting the concert footage. This is excellent. Once Sweet broke away from the Chin/Chapman stronghold, they were a major force. Mick Tucker has always been one of my idols. (RIP)
Me, too. I learned a lot from him as a drummer.
it's a shame that he is so underrated. one of the best drummers in rock music, as good as Ian Paice and John Bonham.
@@Olegzyan Absolutely. Just as good, if not better! My #1 hero on drums.
Brian 💖forever love 💕
what a fantastic version
Many Thanks!!! What A Great Concert!!! Raw And Powerful!!!
This is Heavy metal 🤘
Yes!!!! The studio version is even heavier!!!
Rara versión de Sweet F.A. magnífica
Still remember Sweet was my first rock concert in Detroit on 5-31-78. They came out with Action and then Sweet FA, unbelievable power and energy. Love all their albums, but especially the ones with the original lineup.
Actual live footage of Sweet playing actual live material and no pantomime? This made my fucking year. So glad to see this. Hope I can find more live performances from Sweet. Theyve inspired me so much, and watching this, they have even more. Love this.
It's a shame they weren't allowed to do more of this.
@@farrellvanessa there's actually quite a lot of live bootlegs of the original group and the three piece sweet, but unfortunately they keep getting taken down.
Are you kidding me!! The best ever. More talent here and should have been recognized for it.
I sure enjoy the musikladen videos, I have been watching them over and over. Sweet is best!
That was fantastic. I must investigate further.
wenn The Sweet live spielen konnten waren sie glücklich... Tolle Band auch heute noch nach 52 Jahren !!!!!
Für mich die geilste Band seit meiner Jugend !! 👌
Hallo Willi hier auch löschen 😉😆🙋
ganz und gar phänomenal geil und super live gespielt
This was the best
These guys were definitely on par with deep purple and rush in terms of complex rock
kings........
Great that this performance came out as it shows what a proper rock band they were
Hammer 🔨 geil Die alten Zeiten von the sweet grüße aus Berlin
Awesome band and such an underrated band
Dude! That was just fecking precious!
Another grrrreat exampel of Mick's brilliant DRUMS.
Born -63.... Fan since -72 :O
Mick was the reason I started on Drums -73.
Never made it big though. Always just an amateur ;) But still enjoying listening to AND playing Drums.
I often put on some good old Sweet in my little studio PA System....... and go craaaaazyyyyy on my Drums.
LONG LIVE MICK :)
"It's OK to imaging you'r in a great Band and just play the hell out of your trousers... and "feeling sooooo good" ;)
ROCKIN' VIDEO BRIAN,MICK,STEVE & ANDY!!!! THANX, YOU GUYS ROCK(ALWAYS & FOREVER)! LOVE, SMILEYFACEDELFINO
Oh yeah, fantastic use of an Echoplex tape delay on Andy's guitar. Incredible sound!
Best band
this is incredible...that's all I got...my fave band ever...
Now this is the best compensation you can get on youtube after the "lost" Rainbow Theatre recordings from 1973 - The band at their jamming best - The way i always preferred them besides the superficial A side releases.
Every time I hear these guys I find myself at a loss for superlatives; just the best.
