I just came across these Musikladen clips & it does make me angry that Sweet is not praised for the pioneers of metal they really are. You have Andy & Steve who both had a hell of a vocal range, and unsung drumming prowess of Mick. Brian, as usual, stellar vocalist. If you listen to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and many of the heavier metal bands you can hear Sweet's influence within their music. It's criminal they were not given the props they should have gotten.

I VERY rarely comment anywhere, but can't keep this to myself. Like others, I remember sweet by what i heard being played on the radio, even on AM band back in the day. As I watch more and more of the videos from this show, I became overwhelmed with feeling upset, actually angry for them and myself that all this was kept from us for so long and yet at the same time happy, actually joyful and grateful, to see them like I have never before. I had no ideal that all this was in them. I know by the mid 70's there were others inventing new sounds, new styles and the such, but it feels kinda like this... "holy sh..t, I had no ideal that these 4 guys invented EVERYTHING in and around rock and roll." had no ideal... A very big thank you to all that made it possible for sweet to finally be able to share this with the world, like all greatness should be. Right up there with the all time greats.
I would listen to the radio all night for Little Willie as an 8 year old girl. I knew there was something about this band even as an 8 year old. My local radio station played just a bunch of crap. Had I heard Desolation Boulevard as a 10 year old, I probably would have ran away from home. Surely at 13!!
@Debbie Scott You are absolutely right. I was a young guy in my late teens, early twenties back in the mid seventies and I absolutely loved watching them on tv and live. They were absolutely brilliant. It was criminal that they weren't given the recognition they deserved . So much for the so called music experts at the time, they obviously didn't recognise talent when they saw it.

We, in Russia, also know and love the SWEET. They somehow got through the Iron Curtain here. Real talent can't be stopped. 4 voices, just like QUEEN and BEATLES. Brilliant! 'Love is Like Oxygen', 'Fountain', 'Fox On The Run', 'Action', 'Peppermint Twist' cover, 'Healer', the whole 'Sweet FA', 'Give Us a Wink', 'Level-Headed' albums. Love it
Where are you from? I´m from Finland. I agree that Sweet is the most underrated band of the 70´s!!!! But many, like me, has heard Sweet in their childhood. I was too young to understand, how WONDERFUL and TALENTED Sweet was!!! As an adult, I understand that, but it was too late. I couldn´t go to their concerts, but I can listen them here in UA-cam and I´m so happy for that opportunity!!!! I LOVE SWEET, FOREVER!!! What bands do you like? Sweet of course, but what else? What kind of music do you like?

Roger Taylor had a very high voice. Not absolutely sure, whether the really high notes here, were by Andy or Steve. They both seemed able to achieve these high vocal levels. The, Sixteens is actually my favourite Sweet track of all time, although I appreciate many of the others from their early years especially.

Amazing Live band, brilliant musicians and singers, have never got the recognition they deserve as influences on other Rock bands as they were pigeonholed as a Glam Pop Band by the media and ignored by serious music journalists, it's still sad they're undervalued and underrated, they should definitely be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

When I was 12 years old I listened to your music THE SWEET . You guys are great. Greetings from a small town in Poland. Gniezno sends greetings to the members of THE SWEET .
+Graeme Collin Yes, I definitely remember reading that fact ( I think it was probably in the Sweet biography 'Blockbuster : The True Story of Sweet'' by Dave Thompson). Also Andy says that 'The Six Teens' was the best song that Chinn/Chapman ever wrote .However, Andy's favourite Sweet song is 'Love is Like Oxygen' .Steve has said that his favourite is 'Fox on the Run'; I don't know what Mick's favourite was.
+TheHumbuckerboy Fox on the Run is also up there as one of my all-time favourites ... although the Desolation Boulevard version is a lot better than the "popped-up" single version. I think it's safe to say that FotR and The 16s are definitely my top two ... not sure that I could split them beyond that, however
I never heard Sweet like this. That energy, that talent. Amazing. You can hear that the microphones can't fully pick up the sound / the bass speaker is about to burst, but it doesn't matter.
The Six-Teens was overlooked as an RCA single. However, this performance shows The Sweet in their majestic heartland - LIVE performance. Truly spellbinding from 4 outstanding musicians. One of the greatest English 4-pieces of all time. Real music from TOP professionals

Love this band!
FANTASTIC
Крутые ребята! Самая недооцененная группа в мире! С возрастом начинаешь понимать это еще сильнее!
Das erkläre mal dem Menschenfeind Putin...
One of my all-time favourite Sweet tracks! Loved it (still do)!
+Graeme Collin This was also apparently Brian Connolly's favourite Sweet song .
+TheHumbuckerboy Now that's a very cool something I didn't know ...
+TheHumbuckerboy i have a feeling micks would be man with the golden arm dont you think? lol
+TheHumbuckerboy Fox on the Run is also up there as one of my all-time favourites ... although the Desolation Boulevard version is a lot better than the "popped-up" single version. I think it's safe to say that FotR and The 16s are definitely my top two ... not sure that I could split them beyond that, however
Sweet rocking in their prime, a real treat, thanks for posting!
I never heard Sweet like this. That energy, that talent. Amazing. You can hear that the microphones can't fully pick up the sound / the bass speaker is about to burst, but it doesn't matter.
A very good Live performance of this song, with all the nuances of it.
what can I say. Fantastic I've been searching for years for some live sweet . I cannot believe I came across this video today. Thank you. tony uk
The Six-Teens was overlooked as an RCA single. However, this performance shows The Sweet in their majestic heartland - LIVE performance. Truly spellbinding from 4 outstanding musicians. One of the greatest English 4-pieces of all time. Real music from TOP professionals
Was an RCA single in UK
Oh mamma! Such a classic anthem song from my sweet childhood memory. Live on Sweet.
