I always loved in the summertime. Tonight it was stuck in my head. After listening I randomly just decided to listen to their other music. They have officially made my list of favorite bands of all time. I've listened to so much and can't find one song I don't like. Not to mention they're entertaining to watch play. I have to agree with you. Every song makes me feel like a child getting excited hearing a song they like. Their music just puts you in a good mood
I love mungo Jerry, four of us hitchiked from London to Margaret in 1971 and bunked into dream land and watched them Live, they were great, we spent the night pin the public toilets an blocked the entrance with deckchairs, one very long and cold experience,we all hitchiked home on Sunday, we wear young and free back then.
Margate....Dreamland ballroom, saw them, with many other big names, including Free...fantastic times, great weekends...also at the bali hai bar next door.....Happy daze..
Ray, You created the Mungo Jerry genre - melody, rhytm, instrumentation no others came up with. You have your own league period. Thank you for all you have done for us and the future generations
So pleased to find a live version of this song, thank you for posting. It and they are great with even a little hint at one of their future songs at the applause. Great video.
Man you guys were the best! The most fun band ever! I watch these old vids and still can't stand still or stop smiling! ✌ My asshole brother stole my Mungo Jerry albums about twenty five years ago and I still hate him for it.
I can't believe Paul King let his ego get the better of him. I wonder if he was insecure about how good Ray Dorset was, jealous, or if he actually thinks he is a better musician? Either way his loss.
I remember Todd in the Shadows said that the appeal of Mungo Jerry comes from the fact that they sound so ‘ramshackle’, in his words, “like their instruments are going to fall apart at any moment like the Blues Brothers’ Car”.
In the states we only heard In the Summertime, we missed out on lots of gems from the early 70's by several British bands I am traveling the British year end pop charts, starting with 53, have made it to 71 And play tons of songs I never heard, many are quite good. Love me the 50's 60's and 70's. next for me will be the check out the French charts, who knows what gems I will find Oh yah nothing any good has come out since the mid 90's, sad to say!!!
1971 was a BRILLIANT YEAR for Music in Britain. Mungo Jerry, T.rex , Slade , Yes , Rod & Faces , Family , Cat Stevens, the Who , the Move , Jethro Tull , Tremeloes , Marmalade , Atomic Rooster , Deep Purple , Fame & Price etc All these Artists made Great Records that Year 🎶😀👍🎶
While I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, I beg to differ with your ignorant belief that nothing good (in music) has come out since the mid '90s. Not being exposed to anything "decent" (in music) since the mid '90s, does not mean that there was nothing released since then that was "any good". Perhaps that is a true characteristic of your world, but just because you remained unaware of good music, does not mean it did not exist. I believe there was a plethora of good music that was written, recorded and released in that time period, but I never heard it on MTV, or on corporate radio. I had to make an effort to seek it out, and that is how I found the "good" stuff . . . because the good stuff is never easily accessible, it's not being marketed all over, nor is it being crammed into your ear canals via corporate radio, TV shows, movies, shopping malls, clothing stores, bars, and all the other sources that seem to push all the untalented, soulless garbage (pun intended) for about fifteen minutes before moving on to the next pile of trash! I'm sorry you were not exposed to anything "good" for such a significantly long period of time. Like you said, they only played "Summertime" on corporate radio here in the United States, and now you are perusing old, foreign music charts and discovering a lot of great music that you were never previously exposed to mainly thanks to corporate radio and the recording labels. This leads me to ponder how you could so readily come to the conclusion that there has not been any good music since the mid '90s??? I think that the overwhelming majority of mid '90s popular music (read as: easily available and accessible) was pure garbage (pun intended). Thus, I am highly curious as to what music you thought was so superior in the mid '90s that you can contend that it has dominated all music released since then!!! But hey, it's your life, your world. If you want to hang on to such a negative, false belief for whatever the reason may be, and thereby live in a smaller world, with less decent music, and by extension, less happiness and joy, then knock yourself out! I much prefer my larger world, even though nearly all of the mainstream is truly trash, the remaining music I enjoy is so good that it compensates above and beyond that mediocre dreck to the point where I simply forget it even exists.

Great! I've heard and seen this song in concert more than five decades ago on Yugoslav TV. It was a great experience for me then in the sterile and grey communist atmosphere of Bulgaria.
Wondered why they never play this on the radio anymore. Then listened to lyrics. She wears micro mini skirts She likes to wear her stockings black She got long hair hanging down her back And if I see her tonight you can bet your life I'll attack! Lol 🤣 Don't think it would go down well in this p.c world. 🤣
So good, love the oddness of this and that piano player is fun to watch. That's right use your elbow to play, has to be one of the more enjoyable piano players to watch. Is he the one that had a stroke?
Rock, blues, pop, folk, skiffle jug Mungo have put the fun into all of them. Best fun band ever.

Course it's mimed... Who gives a donald
All songs on tv were mimed back then. I think the guys just thought "Let's have some fun with it!"
Played on a transistor radio in my 1965 Mini Cooper. Great stuff.
Bet it sounded great
@@mavjimbo Best radio i could get at the time. It sounds a lot better now things have moved on
"Hey Mom! Jerry's wearing the drapes again."
I rather enjoy his fashion sense.. if I were 20 years older we could have swapped clothes.
Trip down memory lane with this feel good music
Wow! surreal and out-o-sight !
Sweet! Great song.

Your brother committed an almost unpardonable crime. What was he thinking?
That was the real Mungo Jerry.
Maybe the real Mungo Jerry is the friends we made along the way?
It's not correct. The real Mungo Jerry were:
Ray Dorset - Paul King - Colin Earl - Mike Cole
Later Mike Cole (bass) was replaced for John Godfrey
First time hearing this song, totally blown away
It is 46 years since last time heard this funny hit!!
Severely under appreciated
No they wasn't
Respect from Chile.

Ridiculous... Still as brilliant as the day it was released....
Stomping on those damn roaches.
Very realistic piano playing, btw...

Après avoir vu la bouteille de vin, vers la 3e minute, tu comprends l'état du Mungo Jerry;

Almost but not quite..Still Noddy Holder of Slades impressive chops for me.
Wow, this is a banging good tune, did the boys enjoy making it ? I would say ye they did.
How did I get through 46 years ignorant of these guys?
I'm 46 and just found him two weeks ago. The live at Ragnarok is great.
Never too late to catch up
Uhh, the word "sucks" comes to mind.

@@ritar.7836 you're totally wrong; "virtusi" stands for "virtual aces" in Russian 😊

Sadly, yes. Colin Earl recovered, but no longer performs.
The singer looks like a Shaw Brothers movie character
The piano player steals the show lmao. Watch him. He literally plays with his elbows 😂
Todd brought me here
Kuma Sama same here.
Todd Rundgren ?

King and Earl formed the King Earl boogie band.. They were just as good

The pianist seem just woken up from his sleep
