My review for 12.5.4 on hardware 3 is that it is a definite downgrade in terms of the amount of times you have to disengage for critical mistakes. 12.5.2 was able to get me from the Bay Area to Washington and then drive another 600 miles within the city with only three minor disengagements. This version has almost killed me at least six times today. It brake checks people, often refuses to go on green lights, and will sometimes give up in the middle of an intersection as cars are coming at full speed. It also likes to accelerate rapidly into intersections without checking fully to see if there are cars coming or not, and likes to violently jerk the steering wheel. It's a shame that this is the version that comes with ASS(flawless so far) and less strict driver monitoring.
I suspect the reason it stopped is that it was “breaking the law” squeezing by cars on the right when they were stationary. The stop coincided with them beginning to move. They had the right of way to get into the left turn lane and it makes sense for a very cautious viewpoint didn’t want to surprise them. Also, you mention it breaking the law traveling over the speed limit. For a long time, people complained that it didn’t follow traffic flow, now it does. Also, many who complain, are using assertive mode, as you mentioned you do. Consider trying average or chill if you want it to drive slower! YOU chose assertive, don’t complain about it being assertive after asking it to be. 👍🏻

I’ve had phantom sudden stop on a green light couple of times on 12.5.1.3 and 12.5.4. Both were serious safety interventions with moving traffic. No idea what caused it to stop and cannot duplicate it.
The hospital test was a great fail test. Please can you still test it his area with future releases? Are you posting snippets of these fails on X? I think it will attract interesting commentaries. Thanks for video.
I think most humans driving that for the first time would have failed as well. It isn’t intuitive at all unless it is properly mapped and have driven there before.
Thanks for the real video! I have the same version and it’s still quirky. Phantom braking, shaky turns. I watch Mars guy and always perfect 😂. I have at least 2 disengages per drive or I let it go and if I had a person behind me i would have caused an accident. That all being said it’s still amazing but still far from full autonomous driving.
I live in the rural Southeast. We have a lot of winding two lane, 55 mph roads. I get phantom stops, at speed, at least a couple times every trip. Especially at night and around poorly marked intersections. At night, the FSD wants to drive these roads between 35-40 mph, so I am constantly accelerating for it. The car will maintain my set speed for a very short duration and gradually slow down. It also brakes hard at the last second when approaching railroad tracks, but at least it does slow down for the RR crossing. I guess you could consider our roads edge case conditions for most cities, but not for us. It's very stressful.
Have 12.5.4.1 on HW4 and it isn't any better. Had to constantly use the accelerator to get up to speed. It was mostly like 5 under the speed limit and when it was over it would be too high no mater if you used the offset or auto.
You will responsible for your vehicle when you are in the casino. If it causes a problem then it will be down to you to resolve it, quickly. In reality, that means that you will end up delegating the operation of your vehicle to a taxi operator, who will take any profit associated with that activity.
I think the Robotaxis should be owed and operated by Tesla .. then they can have customer support and maybe even virtually take over the car if it gets stuck. (If that's even legal) FSD really would need to be perfected otherwise.
@@digi3218 It will be a legal requirement in Europe that there is always a nominated driver, either in the car or remote. The remote driver will have exactly the same responsibilities to both other road users and passengers as someone in the car. In reality that means what you suggest, or the car manufacturer will delegate that task to a licensed operator who will be regulated by the responsible authority, just as taxi firms are regulated right now.
Tesla can force the passenger to sit in driver seat and supervise. Insurance will be mad high for first few trips, then virtually non-existent once the passenger-driver proves he deserves that ultra-cheap trip...
@@Fatman305 In Europe anyone operating an autonomous vehicle will be required to have a remote operator available at all times who can take control. Any delays or incidents caused by the autonomous vehicle will represent an insurance liability for the licensed operator. Licensed operators will have to prove to the regulatory authorities that they have the resources available to both safely carry clients and resolve any incideent promptly. I have read the draft legislation, there is, in fact, no such thing as an autonomous vehicle, there is always a designated driver who is either in the vehicle, or remotely connected to the vehicle. Of course the USA regulations will be different, but the same problem exists, there must be an entity that is legally responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and that entity must carry the burden of responsibility for any incident caused by the vehicle. Insurance companies will adjust their insurance rates to reflect the risk associated for that entity. The other issue is that autonomous vehicle operators will be required to demonstrate that their vehicles can operate safely according to metrics defined by the regulatory authorities and, currently, there is no system that would come close to meeting the standards for full autonomy.
@@glynnwright1699 In US, law will change by state/locale. Some places have no problem right now letting Waymo roam the (non-highway) roads with no such designated operator, at least not one that can respond within 5 seconds to avoid accidents. Anyway, I seriously doubt Teslas will be allowed to drive around at above 30mph without a human supervising 100% of time, and I highly doubt this can be done remotely. That means the only remaining solution that I can see is the car arriving at 30mph to the customer, and that customer sits in driver's seat to supervise. I will be SHOCKED on 10/10 if anything else is even considered. We are at least 5 years away from FSD being safer than average driver under all circumstances... Someday we will look back at these videos and go "remember the days before cars could fully drive themselves"

Sounds like you have a flat tire or flat spot. Or are the roads freaky that bad? Thus thud thud

It is so good. Not sure if 12.3 did speed bumps but 12.5 saw speed bumps slowed down perfectly and turns so much better/faster
12.3 did 70% of the time. 12.5 has been consistently good.
This version brought back phantom stops for me on highway and stupid lane change bailouts for exits. Not good.
It has been doing that and just speeding blindly into unprotected turns as cars are coming. Be careful. This version is legitimately dangerous
A simple sign - "All parking by event valets."
E2E NN = AutoMax icon to right of speed limit display.
The dead stop could be a kind of remorse for crossing the double yellow. it can be of two minds like that

A bag filled with concrete or an empty one on a still day are indistinguishable.
That median in the hospital is super weird behavior.

How are you hands free? Mine keeps prompting me to grab the wheel.
Are you on full self driving cars version12.5.2 or above?

12.5 is worse than the 12.3.6 I had in key points of my daily drive. I really hope sub versions of .5 will get back to a cleaner drive for me.
