FSD suggestions: add a supervisor layer on top to override the model output when necessary; override any lane changes which make the navigation harder; give navigation lane selection top priority over lane changes which just try to gain a couple of seconds.

Most likely the impossible hospital problem is a navigation map problem, insufficient detail. Unreasonable to expect a vision only system to understand such a complex environment without proper map input at today’s level of neural networks/hardware.

It’s not a mess. Again this is the human thinking that things are a nightmare if the car picks the wrong lane. It’s not ruining anyone’s day by making someone wait 11 seconds. Again once Humans aren’t behind the wheel and roads are marked better. But you also deleted the waypoint when you got into the hospital so now the car doesn’t know where it’s going. That’s difficult.

I have disengaged my MS several times and yet I still dont know how to send those to Tesla?

I believe the decision to make the exit at 0.5 miles should be changed. It was unnecessary to go all the way to the leftmost lane and then speed up to take the exit.

What was your prior version on the critical UPL engagement? I just got 12.5.6.3, my prior was 12.5.4.1. My first drives show significant improvement in acceleration and deceleration, very smooth. Hope yellows are more flexible with reduced slamming on the brakes. Wonder how much the Google mapping software drove the hospital lane confusion. I’m seeing one area in a parking lot confusion that’s a mapping issue imo.

Always fun when FSD triggers the Automatic Emergency Braking system. I am planning on changing mine from the middle setting to Early, just to see how close to the edge it drives. AEB is an independent system that FSD probably knows nothing about.

Excellent FSD video, I agree that FSD is improving nicely and feel that at this time FSD is better than the average human driver. Keep in mind that 40,000 Americans DIE in traffic-accidents every year -- that's the problem TESLA is trying to solve! The impossible Hospital shows that lots of AI Training is still needed for the difficult situations. Please keep the FSD videos coming.

I spent ~6 hours on the Interstate today - just got 12.5.6.3. I'm relatively impressed. It's not perfect, but I only had to disengage to stop for bathroom breaks, and interventions were minimal. A few accelerator presses and a couple of lane changes. Not too shabby! Nothing like that hospital though.

They can claim all they like that FSD will reduce operator error but there are far too many clips showing just how genuinely dangerous FSD really is. And this in comparison is one of the far less dangerous clips.

Have 12.5.4.1 on HW4 and it isn't any better. Had to constantly use the accelerator to get up to speed. It was mostly like 5 under the speed limit and when it was over it would be too high no mater if you used the offset or auto.

Someday we will look back at these videos and go "remember the days before cars could fully drive themselves"

12.5.4 on HW3 is generally pretty good but has brought back some seemingly random hard braking and stopped at a few green lights for me. ASS is surprisingly really good though.

I’ve had phantom sudden stop on a green light couple of times on 12.5.1.3 and 12.5.4. Both were serious safety interventions with moving traffic. No idea what caused it to stop and cannot duplicate it.

I suspect the reason it stopped is that it was “breaking the law” squeezing by cars on the right when they were stationary. The stop coincided with them beginning to move. They had the right of way to get into the left turn lane and it makes sense for a very cautious viewpoint didn’t want to surprise them. Also, you mention it breaking the law traveling over the speed limit. For a long time, people complained that it didn’t follow traffic flow, now it does. Also, many who complain, are using assertive mode, as you mentioned you do. Consider trying average or chill if you want it to drive slower! YOU chose assertive, don’t complain about it being assertive after asking it to be. 👍🏻

The cars started moving, so different laws apply while being over double yellow.

Phantom breaking on 12.5.4 pretty bad. I thought we were over that issue by 12.3.6.

My review for 12.5.4 on hardware 3 is that it is a definite downgrade in terms of the amount of times you have to disengage for critical mistakes. 12.5.2 was able to get me from the Bay Area to Washington and then drive another 600 miles within the city with only three minor disengagements. This version has almost killed me at least six times today. It brake checks people, often refuses to go on green lights, and will sometimes give up in the middle of an intersection as cars are coming at full speed. It also likes to accelerate rapidly into intersections without checking fully to see if there are cars coming or not, and likes to violently jerk the steering wheel. It's a shame that this is the version that comes with ASS(flawless so far) and less strict driver monitoring.

The phantom braking is much better than in the old days! Used to stop at overpasses commonly just on autopilot, nevermind FSD

Thanks for the real video! I have the same version and it’s still quirky. Phantom braking, shaky turns. I watch Mars guy and always perfect 😂. I have at least 2 disengages per drive or I let it go and if I had a person behind me i would have caused an accident. That all being said it’s still amazing but still far from full autonomous driving.
