    Where I live, our fire dept will rescue dogs that go onto the ice - even if they haven't fallen through yet. Just to prevent their owners from going out after them.

      There are not enough gated dog parks without pebbles on the ground and large enough for dogs to run and roam. A human can walk only so much and run slow vs. dogs... Please advocate for more enclosed large space, more fun, dog parks with natural ground (not pebbles)

      Why you would ever let your dogs run on ice that clearly is not frozen entirely through is beyond me. She was very close to the edge of where the water started and the ice ended.

      @@ElenaShares dog parks can be hazardous.. i never advocate for them... walk your dogs on leash.. that's enough.. exercising them daily for an hour especially if they are older dogs means they have less chance to injure themselves tearing around a dog park and possibly fighting with other dogs

    • @JanBee1122
      @JanBee1122 11 днів тому +2

      Except you could fall through the ice with your leashed dog who might go in with you. Do you think you might let go or are you sure you would hang on? Not questioning whether dogs should be on leashes, just questioning your logic that seems to imply the dog would be safer if on a leash in this situation. I see a safe dog that was not on a leash. Trouble, yes.

    It’s even more dangerous for the canine when there is a current under the ice!

I am sure if there was a leash, somehow dogs do pull away especially if wearing gloves. One special focus of a dog and off they go without the owner knowing what they saw! It's mind boggling. NO one plans for this kind of event, but if a pet gets loose the owner goes after to save it! Seen it even with gators in Florida! No matter what, the owners go after their beloved pets! Hope all recovered from the freeze shock fast!

    If anyone can Build/Make/Create the following: take the shape of a metal Parallel ladder add side by side until you have a full square ( pending the length ), with collapsing joints = a Framework that you slide in the ice to Spread weight distribution so the ice is less likely to break, 🤓💡
    And thank you for your service rescuers, 🇺🇸🥳

    Very good rescue, where time is if the essence. It looks like that ice has lost its strength due to temps just above freezing. I broke through the ice in similar condition, on Walden Pond, while ice skating. I self rescued. I heard the ice start to crack, then one skate broke through. I had enough momentum to land halfway on the solid ice, so I kept my legs straight and kicked them, as if I was swimming. I clawed my way forward and didn't get back on my skates until I was 10-15 feet away from the hole I had made. If the temperature is above freezing, stay off the ice.

    Dogs that aren't trained enough or listen and follow commands to be off leash, should never be off leash. Irresponsible pet owners all the time.

      Even when trained something can happen to scare them where they run off and get lost, stolen, or injured. Should always be on a leash when outside of a secured fenced in yard or inside a home.

    These comments are disgusting! This woman and her dog nearly died. No one knows the whole story, but it doesn't slow anyone down in jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst. Shame on you all! Bad parenting sure shows!

    Why were her dogs off leash! I hope she and her pups are ok, but I also hope they fine her if there is a leash law and then also make her pay for the rescue cost.

    1:45 - Pay attention - he said actual blankets are better than foil blankets. This is extremely important. People think a foil blanket warms people... It doesn't. The foil blanket helps retain heat, but it does not warm someone (or some-pup) who is already cold enough to be heading into hypothermia. For that you want a heavy natural blanket
