- Tired of gettin' blown around out here on the dusty plains? Get ya the Anchor Wizard! But it's a tricky mount (aren't they all?) on the Jackson Kilroy. Find out how and where I mounted the Anchor Wizard on the Kilroy for optimal placement.
Big thanks to my wife (mah wiiiife!) for helping me film, and I guess, contributing musically too.

great tip on the shim spacers that completely solved my problem with hang up
Awesome...glad it helped you. I'm kind of surprised they don't build them that way from the factory, tbh.
Thx for watching!
Great setup. I'll be doing the same in a week or two when my Wizard arrives. I will incorporate it with my anchor trolley.
Thanks! I'm eyeing a new yak and it may end up with multiple anchor wizards on it for running a conventional anchor and a stick anchor. I love that piece of equipment...keeps your hands dry, you can raise and lower stuff with one hand and keeps your deck clean from anchor rope. You won't regret it!
Nice job! Sub'd. Looking forward to more Kilroy mods.
Thanks, really appreciate the encouragement and the sub. I love this boat and will def have more Kilroy content on the way.
Can you still utilize your anchor trolley with the chute that far away from your seat? Nice setup!!
Thanks for watching! Depends on your reach, LOL. I can turnaround by kneeling on the seat and reach the anchor, but it's a pain. Honestly, I hardly ever use my anchor trolley since I rarely fish completely stationary. If I was planning on using the trolley I would bypass the chute for sure.
Mostly I use the anchor to be able to hold position in the wind to make a few casts and then move. So I usually don't sweat boat position enough to use the trolley efficiently.
I can't find a place to buy this 😩
The Anchor Wizard or the hdpe?
@@kayplainsdrifter136 anchor wizard, they seem to be sold out on the their site. I live in Central Oklahoma so I feel ya on the wind. Went lake konawa this weekend and all I did was fight the wind😋
Have you tried OKC Kayaks? They usually have some in stock. And yep...I live in Norman, so I'm 100% right there with ya on the wind. This spring has been brutal
What weight anchor works best?
Good question...I'm still trying different anchors to see which work best. I can say for the folding grapnel style anchor I'd recommend a minimum of 3.5 lbs up to 5 lbs. In really strong winds on soft mud bottoms, I've had my 3.5 lb folding anchor slip on me. Currently I'm experimenting with a 2.2 lb bruce claw anchor from Academy. It doesn't deploy as smoothly but I like the lighter weight and it def seems to hold better even though it's lighter.
I'll put it through more testing and get back with you!
