Mama Bridgerton really said “don’t come for me when I haven’t called for you”
Literally👌😃😃😃👏
Lol “You may be ‘the man’, but don’t forget who brought you here”.
She ate him up
@@adaj472as she should! oh my god she held her ground here. eldest sons tend to have savior complexes specially in large families where the father is absent. it’s good that violet reminded him that, also in season 2 where he was being a little bitch and couldn’t make up his mind. i love anthony now but my god, he was such a hothead.
EXACTLY
She tore him to shreds in the most ladylike way, without raising her voice a single decibel
I aspire to have that ability and class, because I would have yelled. My child would not tell me how to raise my other child.
Yes, she ripped him to shreds.
To shreds you say?
Daphne tells people off just like her mother, the same mannerisms, same cadence, same tone.
Daphne also just sits there like: if only you knew
A lot of the time. I can't say i blame her because her siblings are constantly acting like idiots when in love xD
ikr. idk if they’re just good actresses or they’re told to replicate or just coincidence. bc daphne looks like her the most.
Because she is the eldest daughter she often feels like it is her responsibility so much like her mother does
@@nicknack690SO DID SHE THO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@adobokkeumbapI think Eloise looks the most like Violet.
So after watching season 2, this sence hits differently. Anthony doesn't want to get married because he thinks he will die young like his dad and leaves his wife completely heartbroken like his mom was and have his child grow up too soon like he had to for his sibling.
Season 2 also revealed, that Violet suffers from severe depression. Which took a toll on Anthony as she could not function, and family dinner was his way of getting her to interact with the younger children.
I agree. When she tells him what does he know of duty and responsibility it hurts because all this time since he was a kid at 18 he took care of his family and for his mom to tell him he knows nothing and is not living up to his role as a viscount is a soap in the face to him. Violet was harsh.
I thought so too. After seeing season 2 and all he had gone through (I thought he recently had become the viscount) I look at this in a total different way. Violet is so harsh.
@@iri02802it may have been harsh, but I don’t think Violet realized just how much weight was on Anthony’s shoulders until she saw him break down in season two, cause then she apologized for forgetting that she not only lost her husband, but that he lost his father
@@purplepanda7935 finally, someone saw it. How can she say that Anthony knows nothing of duty when he is the one doing all the work from the past 9 years (at this stage). Also in 2nd season when Anthony's and Edwina's marriage is cancelled, she again says that u don't have anyone to marry and says that u want your brothers to do your duty, I was so mad at her because I was like can't u see Violet , how much pain was he in and that this duty bullshit was the thing that made him act like that in the first place.
Y’all if I EVER tell my mom she overstepped or anything like that I would be DEAD!!! Y’all would be invited to my funeral!!!
Exactly!😅
Depends on your mom. Clearly you have an involved mother. My mother would rather sit in her room alone then spend any time with anyone. She also took my rapists side over me so there’s that. I call her out all of the time and at least she has some degree of shame to just walk away
@@Catherine.Dorian. so sorry you went through that
where am i sitting front, back, or middle
@@Catherine.Dorian. so sorry you went through that but that doesn't have anything to do with overstepping
"lady bridgerton is shrewd. she has had 8 children. trusts she knows when she is being managed." -penelope featherington S1
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Anthony forgot this was his MOTHER he’s talking to. 😂😂😂
I would have been eliminated from this earth if I ever would have said " you have overstepped" to my mother.
Yeah, he thought she was just..another woman.😂
For real!! When he was going in I was like "does he remember who tf he's speaking to like that??!!«
Gods I hate how they ruined Anthony in S1, in the books he was a great brother. He didn't force men on Daphne, willingly supported her choice, and even rejected proposals that made Daphne uncomfortable. It was only when her honor was at stake that he took control of the situation.
Did Anthony tried to make Daphne marry Nigel in the book too?
@@jenberries6736 no he didn't.
I guess they needed a conflict to cause Daphne to turn to the Duke for help
I guess they wanted to emphasize the pressure of marriage back then that it was more like a duty that was a bit unfair ...
Nahh I liked him as a character tho, he was hella entertaining
I issue with this scene is that Anthony knows Simon… he knows his habits, knows he’s only down to f, and literally never planed to marry. Of course Anthony would try to keep Daphne away from him.
Yeah ljust luke him
I loved how she finished him here..way to go Mama..all those kids who grow up and think they know everything
Damn she cut him to shreds
I love that Lady Bridgerton has and acknowledges her own power and position in the household. She's emotional, loving, nurturing but she's also capable of handling situations Anthony cannot while being the man of the house (Like how she carefully gathered information about that creepy guy who was trying to court Daphne with the help of gossips among the maids). A true girlboss if I've ever seen one.
I feel so bad for Violet but I also can't forget the things that happened in S2. Both were hurting, Anthony all of a sudden had a responsibility at such a young age. He felt the pressure especially since he knew what his best friend was. Violet didn't make things easier for him but she's doing her best
Yes, but if he climbed out of his own butt, he could realize he can now rely on those wround him that love hin abd that had and hace those responsibilities. That's his mother.
Tbf, God forbid if I ever hear my own mother tell she wanted to die while in labor so she could be with my dead father, I would have been severely traumatized and jaded about love, marriage, and mortality, too.
Mama checked him and his overweight baggage attitude he has
Mothers always seem to know your secrets. 😅
Mama Bridgerton ALWAYS knows what to say!
In the time period and culture this reflects, he was head of the house. However, Violet is absolutely correct to call her son to task for his failure to attend to all of the responsibilities and duties he has to her and the rest of the household.
He did not have as much sway historically as in this story - the mother would be 100% responsible for finding suitable matches for her children not the son (unless she was not of noble birth or he was the king) the property would have been split between all the sons/mother and a dowry for the daughters (unless there was a will). After becoming widowed, the women always gained when married to a wealthy man - she did not lose anything that belonged to her husband unless said so in a will, and even then, she would have been left something. People seem to forget marriage was a financial agreement most women needed in order to survive at this time - when men died ( as they often did), the women remained comfortable if she married right because she had no other way to care for herself( unless she married again).
@@1hanagima No, the property would never been split just like that. The eldest would have the biggest part - sometimes all the estate - along with the title. That's why it was so importante for ALL to be "properly" married.
In a noble family, Anthony is Viscount Bridgerton, there would be a marriage contract with money for the widow. When Anthony's father died, he had 4 sons and 3 daughters, with another daughter on the way.
A responsible man, knowing about the inheritance laws in favor of the oldest son, would make sure to have dowrys for the girls and a substancial sum of money for the younger sons.
In the books, Anthony is known as being very good with money. He made the family Fortune grow.
@@1hanagimanot at all. The estates and majority of assets would go to the eldest male. There could be provisions to other family members from personal assets, monies saved from annual incomes etc and placed as settlement in the wife and children. The widow, now a dowager if having a settlement (sometimes the dowry they brought into the marriage) would be “better off” only in as much as they would have control of their own money. Like Lady Danbury, this is why she would not marry again
nah after what anthony went through when his father died he should have said even more to her mom. like tf??? he KNOWS duty, he was in charged of THE house and HER kids when his father died and HE was also mourning. He KNOWS duty and responsibility.
Yea after seeing what Anthony went through after his father died this scene doesn't sit right with me anymore...
Although I do think HE overstepped and showed little respect toward his mother, I can also imagine that, living with the guilt (self-imposed), of his fathers death, is a huge burden to have carried for years as a young man. And that was why he became harsh. Until Kate broke down that wall.
Naw, I feel that Anthony was barely doing the absolute minimum. He didn't care about his duty and he let Violet run the house but only wanted to "pull rank" to get his way
I love that Violet always calls him out and puts him in his place. I love her!
And so bitchy and harsh to her eldest son who had been carrying the whole family since he was 18.
Uhhh sure, puts that person in his place who took care of her 7 children when she thought that only ashes the one with grief and totally shut down. I'm sorry but violet is unfair to Anthony and that's the truth
She said yep, I know about your little escapades 😂 don’t trying to manage me when you can’t even manage what’s going on in your bed 👏🏾
Ooooo damn she savagely called him out on his sluttyness
I love the way she pronounces his name.
Knowing what he went through the years before this, Violet is really one to talk. I won't deny Anthony wasn't stubborn as hell in season one, but he does know of duty. Seconds after his father died in his arms, his mother was already screaming for him to get the kids away. He became viscount in a matter of seconds, never had time to grieve his father and still did the best he could as head of the household. He was a father to all, specially to Gregory and Hyacinth, but there was no one there for him. And then Violet has the gut to tell him he knows nothing of duty. Her son, who has sacrificed everything, even his mental health, for the sake of his family, knows nothing of duty? She got to grieve Edmund, to heal, to have her space and then return to her children (who had been kept by Anthony and the staff all that time) like everything was fine. Of course she can't put herself in Anthony's shoes, because he never had that chance.
He knows Simon. Simon changed but which brother would take that chance with his sister? I feel soo bad for this guy. He is being pushed into the role of a FATHER AND THE MAN OF THE HOUSE when he truly just wanted to be a brother and let his sisters have the freedom. However, he HAS TO follow rules strictly, and be dutiful and make sure everyone else follows them. Its like extreme responsibility killed anything real in his heart and I can't really blame the mother. Women had to groom the male child/oldest sibling to take charge because the daughter in law had few rights.
True
But whatever anyone says, I love Anthony, he was really doing his best and yes he made some mistakes but he is a human too. Everybody makes mistakes but Violet should not have said what do u know of duty while he is the one who is taking care of everyone from the past nine years ( at this point)
The passing of their father must’ve been so incredibly difficult for the both of them, I wish they had comforted each other more instead of “putting on a strong face” for the children :((((
he found him first. 😬
@@samanthanickson6478 it happened infront of him
I straight gasped when he said "You overstep" to HIS MOTHER. 😅
Adulting is hard. Mother knows it.
Violet roasted him😂
Anthony was so irresponsible in the first season
And then too responsible in S2 😂
At least in season 2, he was taking action!
Knowing his back story in s2 changed the way i felt about this scene fr
the way she says "responsibility" is just so....hot
I hate this scene sooooo much, the show made Anthony nothing more than a Rake, as if he not care about the responsibilities of being in charge of the family's provide and well being. The Anthony of the book was the perfect combination of both this things, yes he was a Rake, with major R, but there nothing more important to him than honor his family and respect his mother
Does Violet suffer from depression, in the books? Since, that is why Anthony’s relationship with her is so toxic on the show.
@@ChienaAvtzon I think we can call a postpartum depression, since she says, in Hyacinth's and the 9th books that she was so sad, like Edmund was her world and how he was gone, but when she saw Hyacinth, the baby tha she was convinced that would look like Edmund, but instead was her image, everything change, she says to her, years after, that even though she loves all of her children Hyacinth saves her, probably from a depression
That's literally Anthony in Season 2 😂
She really made Anthony rethink his life for a second there
She went all Elizabeth Bennet on him. 😂
Thank God they got that mutton chop situation under control in the 2nd sn
I love Lady Violet, throughout Bridgerton she proved to be Anthony's compass.❤
Yo Anthony telling his MAMA who RAISED HIM that she oversteps in caring for HER daughter is crazy
She read that boy to kingdom come😂
No! I can't defend her here.
Here 1) she isn't suffering from post partem
2) she hasn't comforted him for what he suffered during that time as a child
3) not her telling him about not being dutiful...when he has given everything since a young age and she knows it more than any of his family members.
He was no longer a child especially for the time period he was raised to take on the responsibility of his family. Was it horrific and traumatic how and when it happened part of his responsibility is to marry a respectable lady and have children. And he was literally ruining his sisters chances to marry. He also needed that kick from his mom to change for his own good.
Put. Him. In. His. PLACE MAMA BEAR!!’
I have heard people say Violet discriminated Sienna for being a showgirl and Anthony for choosing that kind of relationship.
But I think if Anthony would have proposed to Sienna for a proper marriage, introduced her to his family like a proper lady, Violet would agree as long as he can see his son happy. I mean Benedict married their own servant who she happily scooped up in prison for.
I think she was kinda disappointed that he was missing out on his responsibilities when he keeps meeting her
Discriminated? Lmao, obviously. A showgirl is not a respectable woman. Maybe in modern times those things are celebrated, but back then, women were ladies, or they lost respect.
Violet Bridgerton has mastered the technique of getting Anthony to do things, but not mastered getting him to do what she wants.
Violet is THE BEST !!!💕💕💕
She really calls his BS. “Relying on your younger brothers to do the job that you cannot.”
She’s dowager viscountess but dammit if she isn’t also a queen
One of the BEST scenes of the show. Can't stop watching it ❤
And then he sets Daphne up with that weasel
She’s their mother, she’s kind of allowed to overstep when they’re doing a very VERY stupid thing
Tbh, anthony was rude but violet are very pressuring to her eldest.
Damn triple burn 😅🤣
Violet pulled out Uno Reverse Card
I dread this conversation with my mom
I won't be killed but i would sent to psych ward😂😂😂😂
I can't believe he said that to his mother. Patriarchy is fked up.
Exactly I can't watch this show because ik these situations are just gonna greatly upset me.
Bloody Gen Zs😂😂
@@favourmaryanne5237 Seriously 🤣🤣
i also think patriarchy is fked up. But violet is too harsh and hipocrite. Anthony KNOWS about duty and responsibility. He had to take care of the house and HER children just after his father died. He didn't even have time to mourn. She left all the responsibility to HIM.
My mom would just wait for anything to be served to her. I wish all moms were like her.
I must admit Violet is the hottest chick of the whole Bridgerton Saga
“Of duty? Pray do tell what you should know of it?” Mama said take a seat until I call for you 🔥 !!!!
Violet sat down his beloved Anthony with an amazing grace, she is the utmost boss. Period.
Violet wearing literally the most historically accurate fit on the show😂
"my sweet summer child, I'm still your mama."
The bridgerton version of my mother's "Little Child..."
this has the same energy with Queen Charlotte telling the prince to be a good boy and approve his brother's marriage. 😂😂😂😂
Antony needed a donut cushion after that a§§ whuppin.
My Texan mother would’ve made me regret learning how to speak in this instance and she’d be right
Yeah no, my Latina mom would smack me upside the head till death if I spoke this way to her.
Her face 😂😂❤
I have so much respect for the mother, she truly is a force to be reckoned with.
"You wanna talk shit?! Let's talk shit!"
Both of them are right here
The mother wishes the best for her children and has to think from every perspective possible
Anthony however knows the Duke and let's be honest he was and anhöre and fckboy who NEVER EVER wanted to get married
Here the mother makes him realize that he needs to man up if he wants to interfere in their life the way he's wants and has to
And that’s on Mary and all her lambs! 😂
I get it was a different time, but if, in theory, my mom were to be widowed, and my brother ever told my mom that she was his responsibility, she would’ve kicked his ass and he would be begging for mercy, lol. Whether or not he’s the Viscount and Lord Brigerton, she’s still his mother, and she put him in his place!
Every line of Violet's in this scene is fire 🔥 you can't change my mind😂 i have memorized every one of them.
Mom for 3 and the bonus.
I love Violet's dress here. I would wear that to a formal event now, such a clean unfussyy style. ❤🎉😊
I love it how Violet roasts him every time they are alone.
MUMMY 😩
This is exactly why I still kinda hate Anthony. His entire thing of responsibility and his mother being one of them is still disgusting to me. Obv he is meant to show the morals and standard of men from the respective time, but the audience is modern and every act of his in season 1 was disgusting and unwarranted. I still wish they would've worked more with his character development, outside of his relationship with Kate
Me this entire scene: YA! ROAST HIM VIOLET YESSSSSSSS! lol
How in the ever loving hell did she make Pal work THAT WELL?!
He went on to f it up some more lol ! Promising berbrooke Daphne's hand
Yes, Antony managed the finances and he was good at it. He kept an office at the estate, like she said. But he was being a hypocrite with the way he treated Daphne while he enjoyed the freedom of a secret girlfriend (he genuinely wasn't serious about) and being a rake. If you are going to enforce propriety then be consistent. Yes, people overlooked men's secrets, but they still had be be discreet about it and the Bridgerton's had higher standards. Even his gf called him out on it because he didn't understand the risks she was taking for him.
She dunked that!!! Literally shut him up👏👏
Anthony having that power over his mom? Bad idea
This really hits different cause violet was useless after edmund died and anthony had to do everything alone but hey what does he know about responsibility 🙃
I wouldn't say she was useless. She was pregnant and heartbroken. And even if she wanted to step up she would not have been allowed to due to her being a woman.
She most certainly wasn’t useless. At the end of the day she’s a woman and there’s literally only so much a woman was even allowed to do, which is why all responsibilities fell on him as the next oldest brother. You think she wouldn’t have wanted more say so, the doctor wouldn’t even let her decide whether to have a kid or not when SHE was on her death bed. But she’s useless…okay, she popped out and raised 8 kids…but useless 😭
We could all admit she did check out and left Anthony who was still pretty young to bear all the responsibility. I know she's a woman but she still had responsibilities she could have taken on which would have made things a bit easier on Anthony.
Cómo madre me encanta como quiere a los hijos❤❤❤
Beautifully delivered BURN 🔥 😂
She plays her role magnificently 👌🏽🔥👏🏾👏🏾💯
Check that man you changed his diapers lol
Well damn! Momma put him straight.
I about broke my teeth with him acting like the parent. I don't care that he's the viscount. He should have shown his morher more respect 🤬
You can see Anthonys face shift as Violet calls him out for the woman hes seeing. Its so good.n
Or the scene that made me want to push Violet off a cliff. If I ever had a brother and if he told me that his friend wasn't the one for me, I would listen because guess who knows his friend's vices best and knows me best? Anthony took care of the children, like a father for almost ten years and this is how Violet treats him.
Anthony wasn't a Man (let Alone respectable) until he meets Kate . And Then all of sudden he takes responsibility as viscount, as son and brother. The book one's is better.
Her eyes really say, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it." 😂
Antony is the most selfish person ever to give Daphne to someone else than simon
He looked so much better in season 1 with that hair to hide his ears.
I could watch the whole series just for Anthony. I love his energy and temperament - he steals every scene even in the first season. So glad the second one was all about him.
I would say mom put him in his place! Don't disrespect your Mama or Mum...She is not a toy to be played with!😮😊
The way she factory reset his entitled ass! I would never. My grandma's spatula, pan and my slipper would send him nearer to God! The disrespect!! Well done Mama show him his place!
My God, Anthony has grown so much from this to season 3! ❤
you tell him mama
Goodness lady Bridgeston, spare Anthony. It's so hard to bare the burden of being responsible for a family. A bit of fun is all for Anthony
