- I built the stunning 8 waveform Allscillator from Apollo View Modular. It was from a relatively simple kit, with some challenging calibration and a great sound.
One thing I missed. If your Fine Tune knob doesn't work, you need to put the jumper on the "Fine" pins - it does mention this in the calibration but I didn't really clock what it meant. Now I do :D

You missed a solder joint at 56.55, just next to the brass stand off.
Good catch. I have to say I am distracted by the whistling of my nose so maybe I need to drop in some background music in the longer soldering bits - although the sound of the rain is nice.
It was the sub earth leg - didnt seem to matter, fixed now :D
Nice video and build. VCO calibration is always a bit of a dark art. Apollo View (and AMSynths) are using the improved Rpar calibration approach for 3340 chips but it requires alot of trimmers, the advantage is scale and frequency are independent. So no revolving around these two trimmers to get to perfection. The video is really useful as I can write a much better set of calibration instructions for our VCO's. A video is even better....You are right, as manufacturers we need to assume nothing... !
Oh, I didn't realise I'd stumbled upon a new approach, but it was definitely easier than chasing the extremes with a pair of trimmers. I'd be very happy to give one of your kits the Molten "treatment" if you were up for it :D

For setting the sine shape, you could probably just plug it into a spectrum analyzer, and adjust to have the least amount of harmonics.
That is true, although it would require dragging out a computer and using a plugin - the NTS-2 is not great as a spectrum analyzer.

My kit came from Thonk, but that was a good while ago. I noticed they dont have it when i was adding links into the description. Your best bet is to contact Apollo View direct.
This module seems to be not worth the trouble. It is just a 3340 VCO with some extra waveforms. It is not remarkable in any way. 3340 VCOs are supposed to be legendary, but they just offer the basic wave forms in a cost effective package.

Those pots are way too close together (and small) for my liking.
