Roger is now the official Band-Maid Ambassador to the UN. DOMINATION live was the 22nd song of their 23 song set and begins with a segue that is the dying away of the last note of the previous song PLAY. At 13:02 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 13:45 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond! At 15:36 - Akane the drummer hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. At 17:18 - a brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best band on Earth.

From Japan, a lot of great rock and metal bands from there. Formed in 2013, Saiki lead vocals, Miku rhythm guitar/vocal, Kanami lead guitar, Misa bass, Akane drums. Miku formed the band and is the primary lyricist. She used to work in a maid cafe, and the aesthetic was her vision. 7 albums so far. Favorite?, love Misa's bass.
Next? Try "Hate?" live, and to see where they came from, "Thrill" is the song that got them going and saved the band.
There are more all female bands from Japan to check out too. Try LOVEBITES "Holy War' live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020. And Nemophila, "Oiran" official live.

Everyone in Band Maid is a standout but I'm partial to MISA the bassist. She seems to be playing her own songs that happened to be blend in with the rest of the band and they all fit. Welcome to the BM experience.

    Greetings RustySabita,
I'd like to just offer a short, but heartfelt welcome to the Pidgeon Hole.
That is what we Maidiacs call this part of the Band-Maid experience. It's a great place to be.
Your average Band-Maid fan is friendly, happy to answer questions, and share about their own Band-Maid experiences. And always enthusiastic to reccomend the next Band-Maid they think you will enjoy the most.
Right there is about where the "average" ends. The group that call themselves Maidiacs, is a widely varied group of people. The youngest Maidiac I've personally met was an especially bright 9 year old boy. This wasn't just a kid that liked the band, he knew what he liked, and he knew the band. Tons of knowledge about specific things about the band. Like when Po got her Zemaitis Signature Guitar, the “Flappy Pigeon”. (It is, in my personal opinion, a uniquely beautiful guitar.) He knew a bunch of this kind of stuff.
The oldest Maidiac I've met, so far, was a 76 year old man. When we met, we were about to walk into his 6th Band-Maid live show. This gentleman has seen so many great bands, from many different genres, perform live. The ones I remember him talk about; Patsy Cline, Tina Turner, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Grateful Dead, Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Alice Cooper, Frank Zappa. There were so many more that I cannot remember. He mentioned many bands that I'd never heard of.
About now your probably wondering, what's the point of me telling you about this guy, and all the bands that he's seen?
Well, as we were talking and sharing stories, he felt it was important that he shared a point that has really stuck with me. He has been to well over 1,000 live shows in his life. Some were truly great performances. Others, maybe not so much. But he told me, that every Band-Maid show he's been to has made him feel as if he's watching some of his best friends, having the time of their lives, putting on the best show he's ever seen.
I didn't know how to respond to that. I still don't know how to respond to that.
During the second song of the show, Saiki (lead singer) saw him in the audience and gave him a little nod and a wave. At the end of the first set. She pointed him and a few other fans out to the other Maids.
During Miku's "Special Time", she made it a point to acknowledge this old guy and I believe every other fan that she and the other girls recognized as fans from previous shows. When the rest of the band came back on stage, Akane (drummer) waved at him and they exchanged small bows.
It was my first time seeing them live. I'd just met this guy 30 minutes before the show started. It was hard to not feel as if I was watching my first live Band-Maid show with a close friend of the band. While I am in awe of the number and variety of shows this man's seen. It was the ladies that were the source of that feeling of him being their friend. I do hope I expressed that in a coherent manner.
Anyways, I've just discovered your channel. And how wonderful it is that I got to discover you, as you were discovering Band-Maid.
Watching people experience Band-Maid for the first time is one of my favorite things.
I'm currently 61 years old, and I've proudly called myself a Maidiac for 5 years now. As the majority of those posting in this comment section have already made extensive and detailed lists of recommendations about which song you should check out next, I will not be doing that.
I will say, that you can throw a dart, spin a wheel, or flip a coin. However you choose to select the next Band-Maid song you listen to. You will select your next favorite song by Band-Maid. I've never heard, nor heard of, a bad Band-Maid song.
Many of the other commentors here have made mention of interesting points and facts about the band. It is only normal that some of it is repeated. Here are a few things I didn't see in any of the other comments I read.
All of the Ladies, except Miku, who founded the band, have impressive musical backgrounds. The drummer, bassist, and lead guitarist all have advanced music educations. I believe that Kanami, (lead guitarist) has a masters degree in music. She composes and arranges the majority of the bands music. Not to mention that she can play the hell out of a guitar.
Miku writes most of the lyrics. Miku founded the band. Miku was the original lead singer. Miku fired herself because she didn't have the sound that she wanted for the band. Auditions were held to find a new lead singer.
Miku didn't know how to play the guitar when she started the band. In fact, in the video that put them on the map so to speak, called, 'Thrill', The guitar she's "playing" is only a prop. The video's producer thought it looked better if she was holding a guitar as she sang backing vocals. Kanami has since taught her how to play.
Saiki (lead vocalist) auditioned and was hired. She wasn't told about the Maid theme of the band. She was working as a model before joining the band. She learned to sing as a child, performing in a bar owned by her family.
She has had throat surgery to remove polyps that developed on her vocal cords. She had not received any vocal training, and did not know how to safely use her powerful voice, and damaged herself.
Misa (MISAMISAMISA) plays the bass. She's in the band as a result of Miku asking Akane (drummer) if she knew anyone that could play bass. Akane told Miku, yeah, I know someone, she can play alright. Akane and Misa are long time friends. Misa also joined the band without knowing about the Maid thing.
Neither Misa or Sakai were thrilled when they finally learned about the Maid thing.
Miku designed the original Maid costumes for each individual. Changes have been made over the years to more suit the individual tastes of the different members. Miku thinks Sakai has sexy legs and has made sure the fans have always been able to see them.
Misa plays her bass like Kanami plays her guitar. Of course, Kanami writes the music that Misa plays.
A regular highlight of the bands live performances, are the "duals" between Kanami and Misa. They are truly outstanding performances.
Misa is usually barefoot on stage. Misa keeps a bottle of Jack Daniel's on top of her amp stack during performances. She empties the bottle over the course of the show. More recently she has developed a taste for fine beers and lately has been drinking more beer than whiskey on stage.
Misa has a unique ability to quickly change from picking, to slapping, and back to picking. At no time do her fingers leave her hand, neither does the pick. You've got to look quick or you'll miss it.
    And finally, my last point.
Band-Maid is a band that always performs best in front of an audience. You got a taste of that in this review.
Where the majority of bands sound best in the studio, Band-Maid consistantly shines much more brilliantly on stage than in the studio.
The band seems to harvest energy from live audiences. Then there's the team of world class sound engineers they employ for the live shows. These guys are artists in their own rights.
This band absolutely excels at live performances.
As a new subscriber, I'm looking forward to your next video.

You'll find no more loyal fanbase than Band-Maid's Maidiacs. Why? Their music is incredibly infectious: the entire catalog, their live performances, the band's insane backstory, and the depth of their compositions and lyrics. Band-Maid is a supergroup that skipped the step of coming together from different bands, by pushing themselves and each other to make the best of the opportunity they found themselves in.
Their management, who had been successful promoting idol groups, tried to steer Band-Maid down the idol group path, but Band-Maid took that the opposite direction by playing it for laughs. They assumed atypical special characteristics: the bass player drinks beer and whiskey all the time and doesn't dress as a maid, the rhythm guitarist thinks she's an 810 year old pigeon and ends all her sentences with "Po!", the vocalist (nicknamed "The Ice Queen" and stating it with RBF) claims she has no special characteristics, the drummer claims to be a gorilla and eats constantly, while the lead guitarist claims to be head over heals in love with the lead vocalist declaring her intention to marry her. In an interview they were asked if the band had any goals, to which the rhythm guitarist answered in all seriousness, "World Domination." They carry this into their live performances, engaging with the audience during "breaks". But you'll forget about the silliness when you hear their music. This is a serious band, with serious music, who deserve serious attention.

That was a fun intro 😂 And it was brilliance to watch the video and then the live!
Where do we come from? Nothing whatsoever organized; completely organic individuals from all around the world. Based on my personal concert experience? Band Maid fans are moms and dads and kids, metalheads, college friends, musicians and music nerds from every generation.
My friendly advice for anyone is to listen to at least 10-12 songs before you begin to understand what the Maids are capable of.
Band Maid could be called a hard rock fusion band. Elements from several genres bent and blended often within a single song.
“Domination” is something like an arena hard rock/pop influenced track. And Band Maid outperforms every studio track. They are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been going to concerts since 1978.
You’re going to hear “Hate” as a recommendation; however, I’m going to detract from fellow fans and lobby hard for you to do this same thing again with the song “Don’t you tell ME.” The music video followed by their live performance at Yokohama Arena last year. Please. You won’t regret it any more than you regret that poll.

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Welcome, Rusty. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom.
Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular!
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on.
But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:
 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ua-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/v-deo.html
     ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html
     Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html
     ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html
 Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD.
And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at an intimate venue:
 Shot by Pat McKee from their 2023 US tour concert in Detroit: ua-cam.com/video/DgxU-MVjta0/v-deo.html

If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, live streams, CD, DVD/BD & merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

    Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.
    [BAND-MAID NEWS]
 BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo
 The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band.
Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane.
Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar.
Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience.
MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls.
Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

So, there are now five bands that the same group of reactors react to. All are all female. Four from Japan and one from Mexico. Note, none of those bands are idol groups. They have made their own bands and also, in varying degree, write their own music. They are also total bands that play their own instruments.
NOTE - that Babymetal used to be a part of this mix, and really was the band that started all the reactions to Japanese metal. Also for me listening ro reactions. Babymetal is an idol group though. And the three girls are only dancing and singing. They are not writing music and not playing instruments and they do not plan their music life. But dont get me wrong, I love Babymetal, in particular older Babymetal when the girls were just kids.
    * BAND-MAID : Heavy rock and prog rock. Best live, but have some instrumentals that are best as studio live. Have nearly 100 good songs.
    * Lovebites: Heavy metal, no doubt the best heavy metal today. Best live. Have some old songs in the Abyss, i.e. studio live. Have nearly 100 good songs.
    * Nemophila: Metal and Rock and just good music. The most professional. Vocalist do both clean and screams. Their originals are kind of hard. They have fantastic studio live rock covers.
    * Hanabie: Metal Core and fun band. Two main vocalists. One is a cute tiny growler. Here I recommend music movies. They are so fun and are of superior audio quality. Best to start with: "We love sweets".
    * The Warning: From Mexico. Rock. Three sisters. Vent viral when they were around 10. Now they are around 20 and a force to reckon with. Totally best live.

You could listen to their recent official live videos, like "Don't You Tell Me" and "Hate?" -- both have duels between bass and lead guitar.
The band was formed in 2013. They had their Tenth Anniversary last year, concluding with a great 3 hour concert at Yokohama Arena, Tokyo, before 8,000 fans. The two songs I recommended come from that concert.
Favourite member? Quirky, sweet, exceptionally talented composer and lead guitarist Kanami. She turns -- Jekyll and Hyde-like -- into a monster guitarist when she straps on her guitar, but is the most naive and childlike member when she takes off the guitar. She has a very strong work ethic and continually strive to improve as a musician, while being exceptionally modest about her talents.

Yes, Band Maid is impressive live. I don't like the MV of "Domination" very much but most of their other MVs are great and they are even better live.
We don't prefer the live performance because of a specific solo: it's their stage presence, their fun to play, the whole sound which make them special!
These ladies are masters at their instruments: Kanami (composer and lead guitar), Akane (drums) and Misa (bass). Then there is lead vocalist Saiki who is perfect for the Band Maid sound and Miku Kobato (rythm guitar, pure energy, most lyrics, fantastic backing vocals and harmonies). Miku wasn't able to play the guitar when she founded the bandin 2013.
I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-)
But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me, Play (LIVE!), ...
Some other band recommendations? Then try "The Sixsters" from Ukraine (Pick any song) and "Gacharic Spin" from Japan (song: "Mindset").
    Have fun... Po

Welcome aboard Master RustySabita. Great reaction and I do like reactors that do a two for....with the original and the live, so you can see the differences. As for the line up and history, there are other Maidiacs who will be coming along who have it all typed out already, so I'll let them post it here. I've been to 15 Okyu-ji's (Band-Maid calls their live concerts Okyu-ji's which translates to "Servings"), and that's one of the bonuses for Masters and Princesses who attend. They are treated to extended/added solos and intros. PO! 🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!🤘😆🤘
Favorite: Pick a song...you won't miss with any song. IMHO, they don't have a bad song. Just that some songs resonate better with some vs others. Ask a hundred Maidiacs for a top ten and you will find the top 10 will vary.
But if you want some suggestions:
"Daydreaming" OMV and "Blooming" OMV are always in my top 2, flip-flopping depending on my mood.
"Hate?" OLV - Funny how the Maids can take a song about pure distain, yet make it sound so positive and happy.
"Onset" OLV or "From Now On" for a kick butt instrumental
"Freedom" OLV a little extra from the Gorilla, Akane, the dummer
A good two for..."Secret My Lips" OLV followed by the cover version "Secret Maiko Lips" OMV by the incredible cover band Band-Maiko. The only band who seems to be able to go toe to toe with the Maids. Funny how they never seem to be in the same place together. 🤔🤭
"Sayonakidori" Acoustic Live for a change up. Miku takes the lead.
"Manners" & "Black Hole" OLV this will give you two other feels for this band. A song with a groove....and the second...a burner, as it's their fastest bpm song to date.

Welcome to the BandMaid experience. The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts:
•Bass solos are more likely to happen than not
•Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be
•Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
•Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre!
•You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that.
    •April Fools Day 2019
As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect. MV is stunningly beautiful.
•The linchpin member of the band gets the least notice/praise. The Mighty Miku Kobato founder/lead singer steps back to make way for a new more hard rock vocalist. They want her to hold a guitar so she does and learns to play on the fly, performing all the while she's learning. So the person who willed the band into existence, who is the primary lyricist, the only member who sings and plays an instrument most of the time gets the least comments from reactors. Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs)
•There is no "I" in BANDMAID. Well ok there is one "I" but my point is the songs are written by BandMaid. Not just Kanami Tono. The highly innovative bass and drum lines are created by Akane and MISA. There are no George songs and John&Paul songs. There are only BandMaid songs.
•10 plus years with the same line up. Think about that.
•More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole.
•Use of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics.
•Despite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's.
•As close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both.
•Many songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well.
•They're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other.
•Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.
    Please do HATE? next!!!

  • @JohnGioffredi-gi7zd
    @JohnGioffredi-gi7zd 29 днів тому +2

I enjoyed your reaction to our MAIDS! That live breakdown has a bass solo (MISA,) followed immediately by a lead guitar solo (KANAMI,) followed immediately by a rhythm guitar solo (MIKU,) , followed immediately by a brief drum solo (AKANE.) The bass solo gets a little lost in the mixing, as does the rhythm guitar solo. The videographer messed up and doesn’t even capture MIKU’s rhythm guitar solo until she’s joined by KANAMI and they go head to head (or MAID to MAID if you prefer.)
A much better bass solo / lead guitar solo is in HATE? (live at Yokohama.)
    More BAND-MAID please! Cheers!

Here's what Rolling Stone said about them at Lalapalooza last year - They are the 2nd Japanese Band to be invited to Lallapalooza. The 1st, X Japan 14 yrs ago.
Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame
There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear. -N.C.

Then I found BAND-MAID and I have absolutely fallen in love with this band. They are all virtuosos and brilliant song writers. Do yourself a tremendous favor and start listening to them now. You have nearly 170 songs to work with. Enjoy!

Almost all Maidiacs will tell you that it's impossible to have a favorite song - the live version of this one is just a good one for someone's first song because it shows a lot of what's cool about the band. But they have 10 years worth of songs and you'll be hard pressed to find one that isn't very good, and most of them are knock your socks off great! I know, I didn't believe it either, but it's a fact that the more you listen to them, the more you'll hear and the more you'll be hooked. And addicted. Like us.

An excerpt from Louder Sound Magazine in 2016
    It’s Not A Gimmick
Okay sure, they wear maid outfits but other than that there is nothing ‘fake’ overtly going on. There’s no grandiose backstory, no over-the-top stage show, no higher power who sent these maids to Earth to do his bidding - nothing. They don’t even mention the fact that they’re wearing maid costumes, it’s just taken at face value. Kiss wear make-up, Band-Maid wear maid uniforms - it’s that simple. At one point, a man came onstage to quickly fix guitarist Kanami Tōno’s hair but other than that there are no ‘handlers’ or ‘puppet masters’ that we can see.
    They’re Actually Good
In the 18-song setlist there is never a dull moment that warrants a quick trip to the bar (not that you can even reach the bar, as everyone is packed in so tight). With three studio albums under their belt, there’s enough talent and experience amongst the quintet to blitz through the arena-sized anthems that swell and burst inside the dingy north London venue. And despite Band-Maid having never played a proper show in the UK before, a rather large portion of the crowd are singing along with every word - in English and Japanese. Down the front, men stand alongside teenage girls with their fists in the air and chanting along to their new favourite band. From the massive UA-cam hits of Real Existence and Thrill, to the bombastic chorus of Don’t Let Me Down, there’s a palpable energy in the air. Whether this popularity continues and the girls return to the UK is anyone’s guess, but sticking them on at a festival this summer would be a fantastic move.

The reason why everybody shouts "Use the Live!" is because Band Maid is, in essence, a live band. Their studio albums are all very good, but the live performances are ALWAYS stellar and just "better" in all possible ways, and the energy the girls exude when they play is just incredible. I'm sure the suggestion is already in the comments, but you should watch "Hate?" next ... yeah .. the live ;)
