Love the video as that is how my car repair often go!!
2016 Mazda 6, constant reboot with or with out Nav card. Assuming Nav card is causing the issue like you mention in a reply but have a updated used CMU from ebay (sw 74.00 xxx) Do I need to have the Nav card just to boot up and run all the functions other then Nav? Will the updated CMU work with my car as some say the CMU is mated to the car. If I try to use my old NAV card will it screw up my CMU?
Thanks and still laugh when watching your vid.

Thanks for this; it was very helpful. But just as a head-up, for anyone else trying this... there's really no need to go through all the business with the glove box, taking it apart, and going at the trim from underneath it. Just use the cheap trim-removal tool from Amazon to pry out the trim. It comes out fairly easy without all that. Start prying from the end over top the glovebox, and work your way up to the air conditioner vent area. It's really not too bad! The rest of the video was very helpful!

I'm about to do this and thank you for your comment! So, I don't need to fully open the glove box and just start taking the trim would be good enough?

@@asukas6184 Yup, exactly! I did it earlier today, just before I made my other comment. You definitely need some sort of trim-prying tool, but with that, no need to drop the glove box down. Just start prying above the glove box and work your way up. I was surprised at how easy the whole process was!

@@davidschneider129 thank you! I don't have prying tool and couldn't push the trim from behind... so I ordered some from Amazon! If MAZDA is responding well enough for CMU issues, I don't have to go through this by myself though. 😡

@@asukas6184 For sure! To be fair, I’ve been happy with the car otherwise, but yeah, the infotainment system had been trouble practically since I’ve owned the car.

@@davidschneider129 Exactly the same here. I loved my car until this infotaiment system failed. After that all responses from MAZDA, corporate office and dealership are really sh*tty. Just like this video!

@@Resolve_DigitalMedia i ordered an American unit and it worked in Canada so I don't see why not. You'll need to go into the settings and change u of m from km to Miles, and liters to gallons etc though.

hey, where'd you order from? i'm from ontario as well and having the same issue

    • @jonnocrap

Ebay for the CMU. Turned out NOT to be the CMU, but 2 different issues. Issue 1 was the camera itself. Technical Service Bulletin# 09-031/20 . they recommended replacing the camera but it didnt need to be replaced, i simply relocated the wire as per the bulletin. All you need is some contact cleaner and simple plastic removal tools for the trim. This is for when the camera is distorted and malfunctioning while shifting to reverse. The second issue was the system rebooting itself constantly. Turned out to be the NAV card of all things. I downloaded the mazda toolbox software and purchased the new map packs, installed them on to the NAV card and haven't had an issue with anything since. if by chance you DID need a CMU i do have the one i removed still.

Also for the camera fix -go to the dealership and purchase the materials for the TSB. It'll be some rubberized foam. Buy the high quality contact cleaner, not the shit from canadian tire. Recommend the wd40 contact cleaner , i think it's around $20 a can. Also while at dealership buy some spare door trim buttons because you may break one or two while removing trim.

@Cynersi yep, turned out to be cable interference mucking with the camera and navigation card mucking with the rebooting issue. Cmu is fine.
