Even though you learned a lot along the way, I feel like everyone who watched the entire build learned somethings too. Thanks for bringing us along Jake!
In the ‘90s when I built my first Toyota (with no plan), I finished it in 8 months, paint and all. Only, to then, tear it all apart 4 months later...I ended up selling it about 4 years after that. I’ve regretted that decision ever since. Then along came another Toyota, this year, same color, same cab, different color interior. My first instinct was to build it to look exactly like the other one...Then I thought about things that I’d change if I could go back and do the first one, over...So this time around: It’s plan your work and work your plan. So far, so good...
I feel your pain! Ya sticking to a plan as hard as it can be is the way to go forsure. I got another d21 project that I've thought recreating my vision but with a better motive like you mentioned.
Thanks Jake! I'm building my first. 01 Tocoma. I have so much money in it already. And keep thinking. It's not right. Like I need to start all over. It's grueling... lol
STILL building my first bodied truck 95 short single c1500… same same looking at it wishing I did this and that still contemplating redoing the back half… I must have watched the crush vids hundreds of times loved every minute of it too… seeing it chopped up in the back of your truck got me feeling some type of way… rip crush and keep them vids coming!!! Really hope to see you at it again! Your a inspiration to me and I’m sure a lot of others! Oh yeah I went Accuair because of you!! You owe me a sticker! Lol j/j
I took a deep breathe at the end... Bagged my '04 frontier back in the day with 3k miles on it only to sell it 1 or 2 years later when the scene in FL was falling apart. Trucks been as far west as Nevada and last I heard in Daytona. One thing I got from it is 20+ years as a true welder/fabricator, what a hack job I feel it was as of today... Loved the smoothies!
I wondered what happened to this. I just want you to know that I found your channel when building my 1975 F250, your information about panel working and bedliner really helped inspire me with my truck. I appreciate your contributions to the car community and I look forward to seeing what you have coming up.
Does not even seem like 6yrs ago. Let alone 9yrs since building the truck when I started watching. Jake or Jacob thank you for all the knowledge you have shared. Sincerely J.Allen Shogun9hr
Rip PURB I REMEMBER ALL THIS when ya had it primered and the wood floor bed I would’ve stopped than …. Hey but you live and you learned … love your channel bro ! Much Love ❤️
This truck and these videos have motivated many people myself included. Thank you for your hard work in the shop and time filming this videos. You have one of the best Minitruck/fabrication channel on UA-cam. Looking forward to watching your shop grow and more great videos. Peace and Keep on Truckin!!👊🏻
Very sad story!😩but I totally understand too. My truck is just sitting in my back yard too since you stopped building “Purple Crush” but that doesn’t mean I stopped building stuff either. Just taking a break from a custom build.
I followed your video from the beginning. i watch all your videos It made me buy the car and start replacing the air suspension for the first time. Thank you. FC from Thailand.
Purple Crush is what drew me to your channel in the first place bud.. watched all episodes.. it was a sad day when ya got rid of it.. but I aint going nowhere.. and cant wait to see your newest build grow and become something amazing.. and who knows.. one day.. might even get mine up your way for some touchup work.. great vid for some good and odd times on a beautiful build! Keep it going bud.. !!!
Thank you for making this video. I was one of the ones that watched EVERY video and could not wait for the next one. I am glad it's all in one. I was devastated by you scraping it, but, understood your reasons. Yours have a lot of Talent and I will follow you for now on. Also, Thank you for featuring my truck in the Thumbnail. Will be watching and keep it Low!!
Hell yeah its a trip watching the transitioning of the truck before purp crush an after i started watching purp crush from the start bro all the way from new zealand always love the channel bro 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Man it takes nerves of steel to chop up a truck and I don't give a shit mindset. I remember when I bought a brand new 99 Chevy full size. Went straight to the shop. Done everything imaginable. Won the Texas Heatwave and that was the icing on the cake. Sold it and started all over!!!
I remember when I got my hard body I searched up bagged hard bodies and there was a video of you dragging this truck I thought it was dope so I started working on mine never finished it though don't really have a shop to work in but maybe one day I will
Wow brother so shocked this was your first mini! Never knew that. So glad I got to follow along and gain a friend because of this truck! Thank you for the lessons and the fun times. On to bigger and better things in the future! #keeponminitruckin’
I would lie if i said it was my first truck, my parent's helped me get my first d21 when i was 15 but totaled it when i was 16. So this was the true start to the building madness haha. Thanks homie!
Amazing work! The truck took so many different forms. You had enough ideas for 3 different trucks and rolled them in the one D21. I'm glad you got to learn so much! I just got my D21 earlier this year and seeing everything you've done always keeps me inspired! I have a lot to learn myself but I don't know how far I'm going to change my truck. Bumper swaps aren't all that crazy. Still gotta figure out the Pathfinder rear bumper on my D21. From there, who knows... Always looking forward to what you make! Thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks for the support! Right haha couldn't decide on one thing. Awesome, even though I went crazy simple builds are super cool. If you haven't seen some of the Japanese mini trucks they have really cool oem styles that you don't see much around here, would reccomend checking that out.
Damn. That was a sudden and emotional ending. I feel you though. When you start to realize how much stuff needs to be fixed or rebuilt, starting over is actually much wiser. D350 getting destroyed was the best thing that ever happened to it. I’d still be working on that garbage today. 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks for sharing!
Appreciate you following along! Haha, no way I was going to sale it as a whole, there were some corners cut and would of been unsafe for the road. On the bright side I did sell alot of the usable parts to other guys and kept a few to go on my other builds.
So I watched your build from that truck I don't know if I was watching it in the current time it was being built but I remember you doing the raised bed the fender flares all that stuff I never realized you cut it up that's a bummer but your other truck is super nice so I'm sure you'll keep it up I wish I did have the knowledge and skills you have I know how to weld a little bit but not enough to confidently take on a project like that but I enjoy watching your stuff keep it up
Thanks Chris, it was bitter sweet to scrap it. But it was a great learning experience, in all honesty I didn't really "know" what I was doing lol. Just read forums, watched videos, and gave it a go. Appreciate the support!
Ayy man its all good. That truck was literally youre schooling. Loved watching that thing progress over the years. Shit homie, I learned a lot along with you. Stoked on "Lowner" that backend alone is fire.
Something new to try. I really like how a wishbone looks, easier to setup and one less bushing to buy. I'll probably never go back to a triangulated 4 link lol.
What a waste of a good extend cab hard body all that just to drag and make sparks at night I own a 95 single cab that I spent quite a few thousand bucks on building that KA-24 engine it’s nothing to run it way past 100 in third gear she just breathing good at the higher RPM scale I showed a V/8 Nissan Titan who was boss and a 302 Ranger and a 4.6 Ford explore bunch of noise but no go on the other end and I haven’t butchered my truck up just lowered it at both ends for handling at high speeds in corners and straight aways !!!
Even though you learned a lot along the way, I feel like everyone who watched the entire build learned somethings too. Thanks for bringing us along Jake!
Your right I learn alot frm this dude 💯
Thank you and to everyone that followed along, makes the journey that much sweeter!

🤘🏼🤙🏼 my biggest mistake was not going off a plan, spend the extra time to plan the details and it should go alot smoother than mine did.
