The films haven't lost their shock value, that scene with art and Victoria with that disgusting scene, I was shocked and never thought I would see that in my life
That is a fair point, maybe instead of saying that it’s lost its shock value, I should have said the impact of shock is no longer there. Personally, there were scenes that grossed me out but It left no impact on me.
I’m not really into watching these types of movies, but my morbid curiosity often gets the better of me. What exactly did Art and Vicky do? I know the full stories of the movies already so don’t worry about spoiling anything lol. Just curious as to how bad it gets?
@@STSGuitar16 to put it lightly while art was scalping someone he just nailed to the floor Vicky was cutting her area with some kind of blade back and forth over and over

Honestly, I disagree with the criticism that the movie is repetitive. The fact that Art the Clown/Terrifier isn't shifting towards a more "human" approach is what makes these films so enjoyable and worth watching.
@@BenFriedman916 This kind of horror exhausted itself with the Saw franchise. I miss the old creative monster movie days with practical effects. Wish we could go back to that kind of "Spooky/Horror". Thats why i enjoyed "The Void" so much they absolutely killed it when it came to their practical effects.
@Rexcelot do you know what practical effects are? The terrifier franchise ONLY uses practical effects, no cgi. Not to mention saw pales in comparison to terrifier, it was definitely far more story driven and hardly relied on actual gore for most of its scenes
No, not repetitive. The story had more depth while maintaining it’s gore fest as much as the previous films. I liked the third film better than the previous two!
I feel like you went in with the expectation for this movie to compete with the first and second when that is not the case at all. To me, each film is its own body of creativity with something new to offer in each one while Art enjoys himself for a couple hours. The feeling of “normalcy” or “lack of shock” I think is more attributed to the fact that we’ve seen what Art is willing to do, therefore when he does something brand new it’s not hard to say “that’s 100% something he would do.” But it’s important to acknowledge the fact that it’s impactful regardless and most of the things we witness in these movies are events we will probably never see in another film. Massive props to Damien and everyone involved in this movie, they exceeded my expectations and provided me with one of the best cinema experiences I’ve ever had.
Repetitive? HAHAHAHAHA. Even if that were true the movie is STILL tons more entertaining than most all of Hollywood's trash. Art can repeat all his gruesome acts to infinity, saw some more in 2 you lovely clown, go get 'em boy!!!! 🤣 And F all the whiners, they can go watch Joker 2 or Barbie or something. 🙃
Now, here’s my take on the Terrifier films. Horror fans may remember those classic 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s horror movies, where the camera would cut away when someone was killed, leaving the death scenes feeling too sterile. I think Damien Leone was one of those fans who watched those films and thought, ‘One day, I’ll show them!’ So, when he got the chance to make his own horror films, he didn't cut away during the kills. Terrifier feels like a series of fan fiction films, where most of the kills seem to be inspired by the movies he grew up watching, only now, he gets to create them exactly how he wished they had been. Essentially, Terrifier is Damien Leone’s self-indulgent series of fan fiction horror films, which ends up making the movies feel annoyingly dumb, boring, and gross.
I actually enjoyed this more than I did the previous 2 films. Felt like Art had more time on screen to be funny/sinister. It definitely could have done with someone to edit the film properly - again the running time was too long. It was just a fun and over the top slasher film with a great central performance from the actress playing Sienna and also from Art. It was also really nice to see it in a packed cinema surrounded by like minded people. Not a life changing film or anything that will really stick with me, but still fun.
@@DlCKWALLACE this type of entertainment ain't for everyone and that's okay! Personally, for me it's not only the killings, I love how silent Art is, it's absolutely terrifying in a certain way and I love it haha
He disagrees with himself, when he says "I had to cover my ears" and "I couldn't watch watch certain parts" in a review about the film having "lost all shock value" 🤣🤣🤣
I respect opinion for sure, but I would be lying if I didn’t notice the irony about some of the stuff you stated. On one hand, “this isn’t shocking at all and has lost all impact.” On the other hand you literally “covered your eyes and looked away, while plugging your ears due to how effective the sound design is. The irony of saying something isn’t shocking and lacks impact, while describing how shocking and impactful it was is definitely an interesting route to go down. You are apparently desensitized to it, yet it got a visceral enough reaction from you to cause you to physically avert your eyes and ears. I just figured this was something interesting to bring up. I adored Terrifier 3. Some of the most fun I’ve had at the movies all year.
That’s a fair criticism; however, I also believe it is fair to say that something isn’t shocking and has lost all impact while also acknowledging something is just gross to look at. As an example the shower scene in this movie I didn’t find shocking. I knew it was going to happen and I knew it was going to be in a very heightened fashion and thus the blood and gore of that scene lost all effect on me because I just expected that insanity and had been desensitized to it. BUT, that doesn’t mean that I can’t find that particular scene something that I wanted to look at. The chainsaw being inserted up the guys butt… it wasn’t surprising to me, but that doesn’t mean I wanted to look at it happen. In terms of the sound, yes I found the sound to actually be quite effective in this movie, it was just in service of very little. There are moments of this film when it takes it to the extreme and it works fully, but I found that the movie existed at the extreme thus the extreme began to feel “normal” and thus illicited no response out of me besides “eww.”
honestly, i’ll have to disagree. the thing i love about these movies is how they ramp it up with every movie. **spoiler ahead from the third movie!!** lme and my group of friends who went to see it did not expect art to chop up a kid and then blow some up in the mall scene. all of us along with everyone else in the theatre were shocked.
I didn’t mention that scene but I thought that was a moment where the film subverted expectations well and actually surprised me. Another scene that comes later (ie the shower scene) didn’t have that effect because even though what was happening on the screen was disgusting, I wasn’t shocked with how that scene unfolded because the film had programmed me to think the most vile and disgusting thing is about to happen. I think had the film used those moments more sparingly it could have had a better effect, or if the movie was significantly shorter scenes like that would be more impactful.
The problem with focusing on ramping it up is eventually you're going to hit a brick wall unless there's actual substance. Creatively you're just boxing yourself into a corner. What will even be shocking? It'll get to the point where it's like "cool, that happened" especially when 50 clones start flooding the market trying to copy the formula of this film and they all try to top themselves. The director is right to want to end the saga within 2 films, bow out at its peak and let it breathe for a while.
