@@kevinberg4623 I don't remember the plastic wrap scene. But what about the stairway scene? When the woman runs up the stairs relatively easily, even though she had an injured foot. Then, when she gets to the top and sees the janitors with headphones and his back to her, instead of continuing to run to him, she decides that it's best to just stand there and wave and yell at the guy who has his back to her and is running a loud equipment. This movie was honestly terrifying, not because it was scary necessarily, but there was something so incredibly unsettling about it and the amount of explicit gore in it made me writhe in my seat the entire time. So I'm honestly excited to see this review
@@ZeroDiamond that was kind of my thought too. It didn't feel like a horror tbh. It was more unsettling than scary. And It felt more like snuff with gore for gore sake while trying to be creepy and unsettling. I mean, I'm not one to cringe a gore or violence, but this one really got me
Cannot wait for Part 3. !! I love the fact that Art is completely silent. Even when he gets hurt and “screams” in pain. Only silence. That shit is wild.
The woman getting sawed in half from the crotch was actually a real torture method used in medieval times. Being suspended upside down also caused the victim to be unable to lose consciousness from blood loss prolonging their suffering. Absolutely horrific stuff.
@@ameen3513 But then that means it doesn't necessarily have to be more brutal right? Wouldn't it make sense to give brutal deaths to people the audience wouldn't normally empathize with so that they do? Besides, I've read in some places that women being given more brutal deaths is an act of dehumanization and on top of that, there are disturbingly high number of movies where the women being killed are all either half or fully naked and on display while they are being mutilated, its a kind of fetish for many people.
For anyone who doesn't know, Art, from his first ever appearance, should be supernatural in some capacity. I believe it is implied that he has some ties to the underworld, so for those confused about his speed, quickness, and survivability, this should help!
@@greatpower6063 All Hallows Eve is his first appearance, also directed by the same director of the two Terrifier films. So his character and qualities are most likely canon in all films.
That's half the point of slashers - the acting is terrible to the point of hilarity, but the graphic stuff is on point (a bit like adult films, I suppose)
The acting & dialogue reminding me of something I saw on the very first Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie. But yeah, Art The Clown's performance is incredible.
I loved the Terrifier. Not too impressed with the lead or other actors but the guy who played the Clown was out of this world. I hope he has a long and healthy horror career.
I think this movie is so terrifying because Art is brutal and horrifying but also because the budget makes it feel like a home video and so real. You could absolutely imagine the horror of being in that situation or seeing something like that on the news
Me: hmmmmmm goes downstairs to get some morning coffee*me drinks coffee ☕ YUMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm my mom calls me cuz she hears me in work me oh nooooo oooooopseeee
that's a very good plot twist because one cliche about Michael Myers, Jason or any slasher killer is that they never use guns cause it is boring and quick, Artie just gave the audience the middle finger and used it lol
"why don't they leave the diner" and what? Leave the lit, populated area with cameras to the dark less populated outside with no witnesses while a freaky guy with a questionable bag follows you? hell no
I've always been unphased by clowns, and felt like they had no place in horror. In this movie, the scene where the blond friend gets sawed down the middle upside down is so horrific and violating on so many levels for me to view, that it drives me to have a seething hate for Art the Clown. I don't think I can watch this again, ever. Well-made, super gory, incredibly hard to watch without getting disgusted and upset, and the villain is unkillable, it's the perfect terrifying horror movie.
Yeah, I was looking through the comments wondering if anybody else was suspicious if this was just a snuff film. It's weird how realistic he was saying it looks.
The part that made me extremely disturbed wasn't the gore or jumpscares, (though they still were very disturbing), no, the part that really got to me was the chase scene between the girls sister and Art. The way he slowly came to her hiding space wearing the skin of the cat lady and the sister terrified out of her mind in that little locker gave it a very claustrophobic and dreadful feeling that made me feel as if I was in that situation. So props to the film for making me feel that I guess.
reminds me of a scene from 'House of 1000 Corpses' where otis is wearing this girl's dad's skin and hugs her while shes tied up.... freaky shit gives me a similar feeling
the movie where he first showed up in, all hallows eve, is even worse imo. that one actually made me so uncomfortable that I felt like I was watching some deep web snuff fetish shit. the standalone terrifier movie is compared to that a rather comfortable watch imo.
I've just realized how uncommon guns are with killer clowns and its more so melee weapons, But I thought it was kind of cool nonetheless showing how unfair it is trying to kill him
the whole Art allowing himself to be beaten and shit is just because he enjoys messing with peoples minds, thats his thing. he gives them little bits of hope and takes it away 5 seconds later.
I think what makes Arty more terrifying than Pennywise is that Arty has no personal motive, doesn’t talk at all, always one step ahead, has no backstory (at least not in this movie) and has doesn’t have make any facial expressions to look terrifying. He is just an absolute monster.
He's far scarier than Pennywise to me because the fear he induces is more human, if that makes sense. Pennywise is scary, but since he's obviously otherworldly there's an element of surrealism and detachment to it. His scares feel more like a nightmare, though you can feel pain. Art, on the other hand, is just pure primal fear. It's the fear an actual serial killer victim would feel, for instance. We know Pennywise isn't real, but Art is. I'd rather be killed by a monster than a psycho who tortures their victim for days before finally killing them.
@@RyokoIfe Art is scarier since has more realistic side to it. Still I think pennywise would be worse to encounter (Novel version, movie one is really tame )
I mean Pennywise has no motive or backstory either. I honestly think that what makes Art scary is how human his passion for murdering seems. Pennywise never really seems excited to kill people, he just kinda does, but Art fucking loves that shit.
You asked why Art didn’t run after the girl when she was trying to break free from the chair and why he let himself get beat with the 2 by 4, I think Art mainly enjoys scaring women more than killing them. I mean he first kidnapped brunette 1 and forced her to watch her friend die, don’t forget when he first saw brunette 1 in the house he just struck a pose before running after her. And when he first attacked her he cut her heel instead of trying to stab her somewhere more vital. I could go on with the bicycle and the skin suit, there’s likely more I’m forgetting but my point is Art enjoys the hunt, the fear, more than the kill, at least with women, is he sexist? Maybe, but it could also be just preference. Also the movie is Terrifier, implying that Art enjoys terrifying people.
Why do you guys always try to make this argument??? Art isn't sexist. he killed an equal amount of men and women in Terrifier. And did you not see what he did to the guys at the pizzeria? Did you also forget that he brutally ripped off another guy's head? I don't know why y'all always make this argument..
Lol Watch 'Downrange' the serial killer never used any other weapons other than a gun, plus the survivors doesn't have anything with them which makes it more terrifying!
my partner and i stumbled across this when looking for a horror movie for the night… well, we watched this instead i guess. looking forward to your take on it.
I might be a weirdo or something but through out the movie i couldnt stop laughing at the point what weird shit art does, like the jazzing in the car or just giving the brunett 2 a middle finger, like i love this movie just because of that
Honestly, when the sister squeezes through the garage door that's chained shut, and Art can't follow, so he pulls out a GODDAMN BICYCLE HORN and starts just honking it like crazy- I laughed my head off for a good five minutes. It was so absurdly perfect.
Your comment reminds me of how the first three Silent Hill games had intentionally awkward voice acting as a way to create uneasiness in the town’s atmosphere before the true nightmares even start.
Let's not forget that brunette 1 died because she literally stood there yelling at Art to get up and waited for him to recover 😐 like wtf are you doing you had multiple chances
tbh i wouldn't either expect the guy i have stabbed once, and smacked in the head multiple times with a wooden plank to retaliate anymore, let alone get up.
I watched both of them back to back with some guys over discord, I was more thinking about how they did such good gore on a $35,000 budget but some of the worse ones had me squinting
@@alcoop74 I've seen some of the behind the scenes footage and the budget makes more sense HAHA they had people just blowing into tubes for the blood spurts
It's kinda impressive how much Art carries this movie, if it wasn't for how creepy the antagonist was I don't think I would ever want to watch terrifier again cause the movie is pretty bad otherwise that being said I am 100% watching the sequel cause Art is great and terrifier was weird af.
The plastic bag fail is actually a funny homage to a kill in the short film ppl criticized. I found it really awesome the director added the scene in. The look on arts face had me ☠️
This isn't necessarily the kind of horror film that will make me check my closet at night, but it did give me one or two distressing dreams. That's usually how it is with the more violent types of horror films like the Shining. They're more stressful than creepy.
Agreed, The Benjaman. For some reason, people who get cast as evil characters tend to be super kind and polite. Probably compensating so they aren't totally despised on set. Either that, or playing bad guys just attracts a certain type of personality. Take, for instance, Giancarlo Esposito, the guy who played Gus Fring in _Breaking Bad._ He's like the sweetest, most mild mannered guy ever. So much so that he did a bunch of stints on _Sesame Street._
To explain how Art survived getting shot in the head: Art was originally from a movie called Hallows Eve or something or other, which is an anthology movie that has a couple loosely connected storylines, a couple of which connected only by Art. One of which shows he is a lackey to a demon and reveals that he is actually a demon or some sort of supernatural entity. TLDR: Art is not human Edit: ok I get it guys, Art from All Hallow’s Eve and Terrifier are two different Arts, my mistake TwT
Should be noted that the Art in this film is not the same Art from the Hallow's Eve films, though it's still pretty clear that he's a demon of some sorts.
I was scared for life when i saw that girl get chopped in half. And apparently, the director stated that he is going to top that kill in the new terrifier. Im interested how they gonna top that, but at the same time not.
HERE IS THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION THAT EVEN THE MOST LUCRATIVE PERSON CAN'T BUY: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Here's a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God's name in vain? But God is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God's law and Jesus paid their fine. i'm not convinced that this movie wasn't created as a special effects/practical effects demonstration. like considering how it's clear practically all of the budget went towards the gore/violence/etc. i'm p sure this was just a team of filmmakers trying to prove how good they are at practical and special effects LOL and frankly they succeeded
Funny story: So at the theater I'm sitting next to a girl who was a stranger and during the "Splitting scene" with the blond woman. She just audibly gasps and it's like, "Oh, god no...please tell me it's a r@p£..." when he rips off those panties and then when proceeds to sawing, she grabs my arm, a complete stranger mind you and almost digs her nails in! 😂 I just held her hand, looked her in the eyes with all the pity I could muster and whispered, "I'm with you!" Of course she super apologized but it was probably the most memorable reaction I've ever noticed by a stranger in a theatre.
7:26 Is an old execution method used in the Medieval Times. They started from the genitals so they could keep the person alive and in pain for as long as possible. They’d even slow down the process by sawing slowly making the execution up to an hour long.

I actually have a story from when I was in 5th grade. I was walking home from school, since it was Daylight Savings time it was starting to get pretty dark. I was about a couple blocks away from my house when I spotted some creepy looking clown under a street-lamp. The road wasn't too busy and barely anyone was out. So it was just me and him. He started doing some bizzare hand gestures and motioned me to "come here" Needless to say I booked it tf out of there. But before he was out my sight I looked back and saw one of the creepiest ass frowns I've ever seen. It was like the pouty face a child would make when their parents wouldn't let him play with toys. Definitely didn't belong on a grown man. Never trusted clowns after that.
I saw this last night on Peacock. It is a very gruesome, grindhouse-style 80s slasher throwback that I’m happy I watched. It’s relatively short, less than 90 minutes, and it’s full bore from the start. The cinematography is charming and the mime dude is an excellent antagonist. Definitely recommend if you dig horror.

This movie peeved me so much in one specific way. A lot of times characters that were being chased were outside with a major headstart and end up not running, stopping, and popping a squat "hiding" like 10 feet from him art doesn't run ONCE in this movie but ends up catching everyone even when they're outside starting about 50 feet ahead.

I think what makes Arty more terrifying than Pennywise is that Arty has no personal motive, doesn’t talk at all, always one step ahead, has no backstory (at least not in this movie) and has doesn’t have make any facial expressions to look terrifying. He is just an absolute monster.
Basically Michael Myers before Rob Zombie ruined him.
Art the clown is michael myers dressed up as a clown

But God is not willing that any should perish. Sinners broke God's law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: ”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Then Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death. Or *like trying to make ends meet*
“killing a few kids wr no glitches 100%
@@sand8630 now that's a good speedrun to tackle there
8:25 you said Art screamed. But he didn't. Not a single sound comes out of Art's mouth during this movie. This only adds to the creepiness. You can't even hear him breathe.
They kick art out of the pizza place because he smears his poop all over the bathroom. How could you skip mentioning that lol
He did w h a t
Lol dude ain't it!
HIS LITTLE TOP HAT IS CUTE !
edit: i cant stop thinking about it it’s so little
idk if that was his intention but i took “this is a society”= “kim..people are dying” and i jus died
Terrifier 2 came out, you know what to do
This movie peeved me so much in one specific way. A lot of times characters that were being chased were outside with a major headstart and end up not running, stopping, and popping a squat "hiding" like 10 feet from him art doesn't run ONCE in this movie but ends up catching everyone even when they're outside starting about 50 feet ahead.
Art is a demon, he can teleport and shit
@@backwooddagn6888 and yet he never openly did teleport
@@justaguywithagoodphoto4801 bc "the he's a demon" is just an excuse for all the shitty plot holes of lack thereof a plot at all. there is zero story at all so the only connection to being a demon is the fact he doesn't die at the end its fucking stupid. worst movie ever.
@@tbull1545 ok worst movie ever is an exaggeration. Its a low budget horror flick with no big names, you shouldnt be expecting Steven King level plot and sfx and evaluating it as if it should have that
Ngl this looks terrifying and seeing elvis laugh at every one of these scenes has helped me realize he is somewhat insane. Jk bro, love the vids
Well he laughed at martyrs
Alot of people laugh when they're freaked out lmao
@@ashikjaman1940 same
7:24 fun fact... suspending someone like that and sawing him/her in half was actually a torture method used in the past. (hanging upside down would prevent the victim from passing out due to bloodloss too early)
Sus
Bone tomahawk has a scene like this
You just made that scene much darker
can i unsee this comment pls
Me waving to my crush be like 17:05
That scene where he splits the lady is gruesome. Only time I've ever been genuinely disturbed by a movie
Bahahaha, I gotta say, I'll give them credit for the slasher villain to just pull out a gun and shoot someone. For some reason, that's just hilarious to me picturing, say, Jason getting so sick of this crap he just shoots somebody.
Bruh forgot the best part where Art spells his name in shit
In what now😀?
@@liland2186 He spells his name with shit on the window of the pizza place lol
HERE IS THE MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION THAT EVEN THE MOST LUCRATIVE PERSON CAN'T BUY: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Here's a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, ”Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” if you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called H***. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you!
@@kayvoncrenshaw1799 respectfully, shut up.
@@michaelmoore7054 What is with the emanating virulent attitude? Were you able to read the message?
Do you fear death? Do you know what happens when you die?
Terrifier makes governments look like they fucked up banning Manhunt 😂
I remembered watching this movie with a Japanese guy who was eager to watch his first R-rated English movie. He was utterly horrified at the part with the blondie's death, and even cried out (in English) "How can anyone be so cruel?!" It was fascinating considering we watched Hereditary the next day, and he just laughed the whole way through then got very confused at the ending.
Also, it's nice to hear that Art's actor is a sweet and cool guy. I heard similar stories that actors who've played other horror icons are actually very nice and polite. Gives some comfort to people who get easily scared.
I think Japanese sensitivities are different from those of Americans or Europeans.
@@Meretneith Yeah, I think it has to do with the violence of that death in particular being rather guro-esque, which is something even the general Japanese public wouldn't consume (on Pixiv, a Japanese art-site, guro or R18G is a whole other category different from R18).
