Hi Kyler, thanks. I did read in my research that it tastes OK, but it is mostly discarded. At the least it looks full of polyphenols so should be healthy.
Good report. Fyi, the fibrinolytic supplements nattokinase and serrapeptase also increase brain BDNF as well as IGF-1 levels, while decreasing AChE activity, TGF-β, Fas and IL-6 levels.
@@blueberry11051 IGF-1 is an established neuroprotectant and promoter of skeletal muscle differentiation. Too much of anything is detrimental, including oxygen.
@ModernHealthspan how much should one consume to receive effective dosage of the beneficial compounds? I've seen coffee from green beans and wonder if this yields different benefits to conventional coffee beans and now coffee cherries
Hi Scott, thanks for the comment. In my research I saw that someone was trying to use it for up to 15% replacement for flour in baking. So may be it will get used!
How does this result compare to red beet root results in increases of BDNF? What about other fruits that produce procyanidins? Thanks for the hard work!
Hi thanks. That is a good question, and I don't know the answer. The review paper looking at nutritional interventions to raise BDNF did not include beets.
Thanks for the question. I take a number which are targeted at covering any deficiencies such as Vit C, Vit D, Vit B complex, Lutein, zeaxanthin, lithium etc. The ones that I notice more immediate effects are NMN (for energy), magnesium (for sleep), creatine (for workouts). Perhaps the one I notice most is coffee!
It would be interesting to learn if there is a dose-response relationship. So much of the research has been done on 100mg doses. What would result from a dose of 150 or 200mg?
Hi thanks for the comment. It would. There really is so little research, including very few long term studies. The cognitive study, which used 100mg twice per day for 4 weeks, so could have provided some insight, did not measure BDNF levels. Though this is also a problem with many supplements in studies; because the study is a one-off event they go for the largest safe dose so that they have the best chance of seeing a signal.
Hi thanks for the question. Interesting but something I need to investigate. It seems that cocoa polyphenols modulate the effects of BDNF rather than increasing the amount.
Have you decided to consume Coffe Cherry Extract, otherwise I will continue with my AM coffee. I am hesitant to add another supplement. Of course I will continue with my Strength and Endurance training and time restricted high protein " Mediterranean " diet. Thanks for the Intel. An apple a day...🏊🏋🏻🎉
Hi Robert thanks for the question. At this time, I am not taking coffee cherry extract. We seem very similar! I love my morning coffee and avoid adding more supplements unless there is a very strong reason or immediate goal. I hope that my exercise and diet is allowing me to produce enough BDNF!
Hi, thanks. I just tried that and I agree with you. No idea why that is happening. The comment is not being held by UA-cam that I can see and it is nothing that I have done.

I live in the coffee region of Colombia. I have eaten the coffee fruit before it don't taste bad. I didn't know it was healthy

Hi thanks for sharing. Interesting. I think I need to look at nattokinase in more depth!
IGF-1? Why? This is dangerous!

I wonder if you can steep coffee cherries like tea or eat them as a fruit?
Hi thanks for the question. Raw coffee fruit can be eaten as a fruit and tastes OK (see Kyler565's comments).

It's a shame we have to throw out all this coffee Berry it's too bad we can't find something useful to sell it for

You should look into 7,8-DHF and it's relationship to BDNF and cognitive decline. There are many published studies.
Hi Brant, thanks for sharing. I will have a look at that.
What supplements list do you currently take that gave you the most noticeable beneficial effects ?

Thank you for the informative video what are your thoughts on the chocolate extract supplements and their efficiency is compared to the coffee cherry?

The extract can go bad quickly. Fresh would probably be recommended. Only available during picking season.

Hi thanks. A number of people have commented on substances which were not in the study. Maybe it was not very thorough!
