Maybe 10+ years ago, but not so much now as all the banks / credit cards just use AI algorithms to suspect suspicious activity. Last time I called my main bank to let them know I would be traveling out of country the agent said don't bother they have no way of making a note of that anymore

Exactly correct. Anything before you meet in person is a video/chat pal and you're not "in love", you are infatuated with a fantasy you, yourself, have created in your own mind.
Once you get out in the provinces I use food panda for food delivery in moderate sized cities.

Here is a subject for an episode. Check into the laws of naturalization after being ssrv for 10 years. And not going to your home country to renounce your citizenship you can become a naturalized dual citizen of the Philippines and own land and more
Friendly suggestions (you're very good and an expert but from my perspective)

Technically one doesn't need to buy a local Philippines SIM phone card. There are various international phone plans out there like GoogleFi that work around the world. I use GoogleFi, and it works pretty well I can make calls, text, go online even with a USA phone number. I only pay for data used. Local SIM card likely cheaper though. In addition, having a phone with USA number also allows me to use banking apps with no issue at all so don't need to use VPN. Or if there is a problem I can call up their help center with my local number and resolve any issue. Just a bonus 🙂 Overall though if living there long term I would keep my GoogleFi phone as a key back up and buy a cheap phone at Phils mall and get local SIM card to use on day to day basis.
I had not heard of Angkas though that I would add. Doesn't Grab have an option for motorcycle taxi though? It certainly does in Thailand (Bolt too), but I'm not sure about Philippines

Lazada and Shoppe have mostly fake American brand items like Nike and Adidas shoes. If the pice is too good to be true, then it isn’t true.
Read the reviews. Many times people know it’s fake but give high ratings because they still like the quality.
