Replace Front Brake Pads and Rotors on 2005 Acura TL

  • Warped rotors cause vibration while braking, especially at high speed. So now it’s time to replace the front brake pads and rotors on the Acura TL.
    Tools needed:
    floor jack
    jack stands
    wheel chocks
    14mm socket
    17mm socket
    ratchet
    torque wrench
    brake clean
    metal wire brush
    silicon brake grease
    towels
    cardboard or something else to put on the floor
    If you use power tools:
    impact wrench
    impact driver, drill or die grinder
    universal swivel socket
    1/4” hex attachment with sanding discs
    1/4” hex attachment with wire brush

      Very similar, yes. The rear rotors will look slightly different and the pads and callipers will be smaller.

      @@IntoTheVoid0001 the main difference is that the parking brake is on the rear which doesn't really affect anything. Just leave the parking brake stuff alone (under the rotor hub area) and make sure your parking brake is off.

    You messed up with the slider pins. That orange silicone swells the seals. Something in that stuff does it even though it’s silicone.
    The clear silicone doesn’t swell the seals.

      That's an interesting observation and I have to respectfully disagree that it was a mess-up as this is what is used in many, many home and automotive shops. So it is certainly intentional and not a mistake to use high temperature silicon grease designed for brakes and brake parts.
      In general, silicon is recommended for rubber as it does not cause rubber to swell.
      You may want to consider notifying the manufacturer as maybe you had a bad batch but this product has and is used by mechanics and mechanic shops everywhere.
