  • Tucktec vs Pakayak - Best kayak for you. There are several benefits for both of these kayaks and I will be sharing my experiences with the Tucktec and the Pakayak Bluefin 142. If you're trying to decide between the Tucktec vs the Pakayak, this will help you decide which one is the best for you. I will be comparing many factors in this video but I do want to highlight that the Tucktec is a recreational kayak while the Pakayak is a Touring Kayak. They are different kayaks where the similarities lie in the fact that they are both portable. I do love both my Tucktec and my Pakayak so I hope this video will help you decide which kayak is the one for you.
    Again, I would like to emphasise that these are my own opinions and experiences with the Tucktec and the Pakayak after owning both of these for a while.

    I have no car so I cant use a normal Kayak. Inflatables are risky to mold and stink when not cleaned after each use, Foldables are nice to take with you, but I fear being far from shore and having a leak and it will be unfun to go with a Tucktec in winter so it is the Pakayak for me!

    Excellent and very comprehensive channel.
    Thanks to your multiple videos, I decided to purchase both TuckTec & Pakayak as well. I feel they are complimentary.
    Most importantly, they both break down into a manageable package and can be stored easily, which was a MUST for me as well. Now, I am looking at Greenland paddles :)
    Do you use the Greenland paddle for the TuckTec as well or did you go back to Euro style paddle ?

    • @Fishaholicboy
      @Fishaholicboy  11 місяців тому

      We are Tucktec and Pakayak buddies!! I completely agree with you that they complement each other. Definitely for different purposes. For the Tucktec, I find it easier with the euro blade because of the width of the Tucktec.. also, I sometimes scraped my hand on the edge which wasn’t the best. I use the GP religiously on the Pakayak!

    Thank you for the video comparison. I was concerned about the tucktec fishtailing back and forth when paddling hard since it has a flat bottom. And also how fast it will go. The other kayak looks like it would go faster and fishtail less. Can you quantify the performance?
    We have a twin seater hobie mirage rigid kayak (peddle drive) which has zero fishtail, very stable (never flip) and fairly fast. I contrast we have some cheap rigid 8.5 ft kayaks that are much less stable and super fishtaily and hence can't go fast.

    • @Fishaholicboy
      @Fishaholicboy  2 роки тому +1

      Hi David! Thanks for watching! The Tucktec actually has a rudder and fishtails less than the Pakayak. It also depends on the wind and current on that day. I usually manage it with my paddling but it can get tiresome sometimes. I won't be able to compare it to your twin seater hobie unfortunately.
      It terms of speed, I made another video on it here: ua-cam.com/video/HLDohHoaMs4/v-deo.html
      I'm not an expert paddler but it's just a comparison of the speed between these two kayaks with my paddling style. You can see the results at the end of the video. The main advantage of these are purely for storage and the packability. Both takes me about 3-5 minutes to assemble!
      Hope it helps!

      Hi! I have fished on the Tucktec. There's a small fishing section in this video: ua-cam.com/video/100qBON3M5Y/v-deo.html around the 9:00 mark.
      There's alot of space in the Tucktec for you to put your gear.. at both the front and the back. The Tucktec is wide so it's stable but again, it depends on where you are kayaking but it's very comfortable to fish with. However, I decided to fish or kayak separately.. it's too much multitasking for me :)

      That's a good idea though I think it could be very subjective. I feel everyone likes different things when kayaking and it's a great process to discover what you like and need for kayaking. BUT I do recommend having knee/thigh pads if getting the Pakayak as it allows you to have more contact (control) of the kayak however I would probably buy some generic ones and cut it to shapre rather than through Pakayak. The statement here was: a kayak meant for open water is naturally tippy. I doubt that. I've found some kayaks, such as the Pygmy boats, totally stable and not tippy. UNLESS you're not riding the water safely

      @@Sowabob Hi! Thanks.. and I agree with you. I suppose what I meant is that sea kayaks are narrower compared to a recreational kayak which makes it "tippier". That "tippiness" is actually what gives stability when you're out in the open water for the more experienced paddler. Thanks for watching!

    you repeated yourself about 10x saying which kayak is for who. I don't think that's an exaggeration.
