Great interview. He looks and sounds like he could be Steve-O’s dad.
lmao
Ahhhhhh ha ha ha Truth!!!!
Lol!
True!!
thats from smoking lots of crack
@@ducklife420 very hard to argue that
Fonzie is an awesome guest. He is very underrated and highly entertaining. He was in Florida for years. I'm sure he has lots of great stories to tell.
Well done. Great choice of a person to interview. Fonzie been around forever. I hope you asked him about bruiser Brody shooting on lex luger. He was the ref in that famed match
He was the best in ecw. That whistle got a little annoying. But that was the point I guess. Sabu and RVD
Fonzie looks like Ernest from the kids movies now.
Lol at Bill having to show us his foot
Lololol
I said this on another video. So happy that you let the person you interview talk. Makes for an enjoyable interview. So many interviewers constantly interrupt or talk over the person making the interview borderline unwatchable.
Rest In Heaven Jorge Gonzalez
Billy Boy got himself some new chopmers. He looks great 👍
Wow. I was scrolling through my home page and saw this pop up on my recommendations and I had absolutely no idea that was him. He looks terrific!
Seems like more and more wrestling personalities want to be a part of your channel James, really happy for you! Great job! ✌🏻
Thanks dude!
Fun Facts - Fonzie was the referee in the legendary Bruiser Brody/Lex Luger cage match, also the ref in the Bunkhouse Stampede match when Luger turned on JJ Dillon and The Four Horsemen. NWA, WCW, WWF, ECW. He did them all. Legend.
Met him fifteen years ago and he looked twenty years older than he does here, good to see he's healthy.
That's because he finally got dentures
@@americandiablo The new teeth make a massive difference, but he really looks a lot better overall. Really cleaned himself up.
@@VultureLivesAgain He's still a thriving , druggie, scumbag. Old dogs don't learn new tricks.
Bill Alfonso = Living Legend.
Fonzy is an amazing interview dude has been around forever and basically done it all. I'm so glad to see him clean.
ECW
Very insightful interview. I laughed my ass off when the discussion about the outfit was brought up (LMFAO) just because that outfit made my ex-boyfriend so "WTF" in his demeanor as he cracked up at it. LOL!!! I remember I would make him watch Undertaker vs. Gonzalez at WrestleMania a few years ago when we were in a relationship and it reaction to that outfit was hilarious. Alfonso goes "It is what it is so long as Vince is paying us this money." LMFAO!!! What in the hell was Vince thinking with that outfit. All that out of the way, some of this stuff about Gonzalez and his life is very sad. I only came here because Undertaker often says trying to make good matches with him was next to impossible. But it becomes clear why, the guy's health was awful. I was so sad to hear that he always expressed concerns of dying early. :(
I met Fonzi at a show I did years ago. Such a nice guy, and he called me Daddy about 800 times. I didn't know he was a ref for a long time and now I see him everywhere.
Unlike Russo saying "bro" 400 times, at least Bill saying "daddy" many times is fun to listen to.
@@kenterminateddq5311 Haha, exactly. He was a really solid dude. He even complimented the ass beating I received.
@@G33kCulture You received? You are a wrestler too?
@@kenterminateddq5311 Yup. It's been a couple years since I got out, but I was throw around for a few years. It's great.
@@G33kCulture Taking bumps suck though, no?
This is the best shoot wrestling channel James watching since the early days much love from Scotland
"So J.J. Sent us two first class tickets, had a driver pick us up..." and there is the difference between WWE and WCW at the time. I'm exaggeratting a bit, but listening to other interviews, with WCW it was more like, "We got a greyhound bus ticket & the world's sketchiest cab came an hour late..."
I remember Bill Alfonso refereeing Bret's match after Summerslam against Skinner, so the lag time was a good 3-4 months.
Is it ironic that the tallest guy had the shortest run?
Yeah but Gonzalez was well past his mileage by the time Vince got him. Gonzalez was already having several health issues by the time he got to WWE both diabetes related and issues with his knees. If Vince had gotten Gonzalez before WCW, I think Gonzalez might have had a longer run. Vince loved giants and wanted all of them to work like Giants (feet on mat at all times). It would have saved Gonzalez's knees as he wouldn't have had to have bumped for many people.
Thumbs up, Great shoot interviews
I don't remember Fonzie with Gonzalez in WWF. Maybe because it was Harvey Wippleman that was GGs manager.
Fonzie was the behind the scenes manager, however in the Giant Gonzalez vs Undertaker match at Wrestlemania, Fonzie was the referee
I was just wondering about giant Gonzalez. Great story
Haha love how thirsty Vince is for huge guys. Even if they can barely walk
Underrated as a referee Bill was.
merry christmas.................
Fonzie should write a book. He has seen it all.
the giant shoulda been paying them lmao
While Harvey Whippleman did a great job as Gonzalez' manager, Fonzi would be a sweet manager for El Gigante in WCW or WWF.
That’s right. How have uve been, haven’t heard from u in a while.
@@ibzanarroyo704 IS IN THE HOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE! It's great seeing you!
@@kenterminateddq5311 why haven’t uve been on the Eric Bishoff podcast.
@@ibzanarroyo704 Working, mostly. But at least we see each other on Boston Wrestling.
Pretty sure Kip Frey was in charge when Giant Gonzalez left WCW & JR wasn't in WWF till April 93. Giant debuted in Jan 93 in WWF JR was still in WCW in Feb 93 at SuperBrawl 3 sitting ringside.
I just saw a match with Giant Gonzalez vs Virgil. I thought the ref was Bill Alfonso; who admittedly I know very little of him except he was with RVD in ECW. I searched him and found this video. Now I know he was the personal assistant to Giant Gonzalez.
Wow, seeing Bill Alfonso with a mouth full of good teeth is weird lol. Good he got it fixed though
They are dentures. He can't afford implants.
It does look weird lol
I agree with this. Fonzie looks like a totally new man instead of a crackhead.
Glad agonize finally got his teeth fixed. No offense, I’m genuinely happy for him! What a great guest, man. He’s seen SO much. Love Fonzie!
Great vid
His teeth seem abit better now...Bill is a fookin legend!!!
Yea, I think he’s the one that refereed Dusty against Race when Dusty finally won the title!
Bill looks great!!!
we need you to set closer to the monitor please
Fonzie Looks Younger Now Than He Did In The 90's Live Long & Prosper Bill Alfonso!
Giant Gonzales was wrestling's answer to bigfoot
Fonzie rules he worked for a lot of people. His time in ecw was the best I think.
👊👊👊👊
As soon as you hear the name Jim Herd, nothing good ever follows it
Fonzie is the best and his whistle
Fonzie is such a great storyteller
And an even greater cleptomaniac.
Does anyone know if fonzie speaks spanish? Is he cuban? Im wonderong because he was giant Gonzalez assistant
I wanna see bill alfonso vs peewee anderson in a steel cage match
Not to speak ill of the dead,But Gonzales had to be the worst of the big guys. Why Vince hired him after his run in WCW boggles my mind.
It's probably an ego thing. Vince wanted to say he had the tallest/biggest wrestler in the world. He also knew he would be a short term attraction. Plus, he knew Andre was done, and wanted another giant. It's crazy that Andre died just days after Gonzalez's debut. Good thing for Andre there was never a staredown between them because it would have killed his 7'4" gimmick.
Fonzi looks great... but also like a totally different dude lol. That voice though...
fonzie the best
The best what? Thief? Liar? Scumbag?
I thot I saw Harvey wimpleman say once that he was kind of his handler Mayne. Idk I could be wrong.
It was a shame that a real life GIANT was the TOTAL SHITS AS A WRESTLER!!! I mean he was just plain fucking awful!!! Not even semi prime Undertaker could get a good match out of him...SMFH!!
Thus why Jim Herd told him if he wants a pay cut cause Herd believe the guy just doesn't know how to work matches. Giant Gonzalez had the looks and the size but not the talents, the fact he doesn't spoke good English means it's really difficult to work with him in the ring especially when trying to sell moves and performance.
@@VOAN I'm not saying that Giant Gonzalez was like Bret Hart in the ring. But having Jim Herd tell you who is and who isn't a good in ring worker is like taking parenting advice from Casey Anthony.
saw this guy on an interview with Hannibal a while ago. he looked like a mess but I guess he cleaned himself up. he looks great now I guess
Sad story...both.
Was "Tod is God!" brought up at all during this Interview? Some stories have said Fonzi was there, others omit him. Would be nice to get it from the horse's mouth if he really was there.
The gaint Gonzalez was ever a wrestler he was just tall and uncoordinated.
He was 44 when he died
Yeah, I was shocked. He looked like a healthy giant!
He looks like a different person
I'm pretty sure Wembley is a bigger deal than MSG, but I'm just nitpicking'.
Wembley is a stadium and MSG is an arena. Open-air venues are way easier to pack in than a place with a roof like MSG.
*Shows foot
I heard Giant was broke and Harvey was sending him a few bucks a month to stay alive.
Yeah i read that, Gonzalez was in a wheelchair
Is this Steve-O's daddy?
Yeah he is, hes famous for that
Teeth!!!!!!!
I still remember how much I despised Bill Alfonso in ECW because he would keep blowing that whistle throughout the matches. So annoying. I admit to hitting the mute button a few times.
Yeah thats cheap heat, theres nothing more annoying than that
wow he really fighting with those dentures theyre causing him to spit when he talks now whoever he talks to has to deal with that grating voice and getting a spit shower
Fonzie got a bag and fixed his teeth
No. Social Security got him free dentures.
@@americandiablo fax
Fonzie
Garden, not Gardens.
Andre didn't die at 43. He was 46.
This guy tells a story like a woman. He’s extremely long winded.
People Say The Best Manager of All-Time was Bobby Heenan. For me personally it was Bill Alfonzo. Great with Taz greater with Sabu & RVD. He set up tables held chairs prepared spots taunted whistled with that loud whistle annoying opponents. It was GREAT!
You crazy Bro
I don’t know about best of all time necessarily, but I agree he was great in ECW. Awesome and unique character.
And yeah, that whistle was genius.
Fonzie couldn't shine Heenan's shoes.
@@americandiablo As a Manager YOU're WRONG! As a Commentator 100 Percent Correct.
Bill Alfonso whistling in ECW is by far the most annoying thing I ever enjoyed
