    Bruise Brody was the most believable character in the history of wrestling!! God bless you Frank, you was my favorite as a child growing up in the 70’s and 80’s!!!

      To see the Frank Goodish interview in his ‘Dark Side’ episode, and to see him almost transform in the next scene was something to behold.
      God rest his soul. ‘Bruiser’ certainly deserved a long, and blessed career.

      Brody was my favorite also. Back in 1984 or 1985, he was in a match with Bull Dog Bob Brown in a gymnasium in St. Charles, Missouri. Things went haywire quick. He went out of the ring after Bulldog and his manager Slick. He took his left arm and swept 5 or more kids( Cubscouts) off their chairs just to grab one chair. He went after them swinging and whacking anything that got in his way. Me and some friends were in the front row on one side. Here they came toward us. My buddy was 230 pounds and was on the football team. I said get going. I followed him. People were falling and running over other people to get out of there way. It was obvious him and Bulldog were not friends. TRUST ME! This wasn't fake. Brody ended up in the bleachers going after Slick and Bulldog. There were people tripping and falling, ALL AGES OF PEOPLE. Wrestlers were coming out to try to calm Brody down. It was like he SNAPPED. IT WAS NUTS!!! Him and RIC Flair were my favorites.

      Disagree. Bill and his whistle were annoying as hell. Not in a good way, like I wanted to see him get beat up. In a bad way, like I changed the channel or muted the tv if he came on.

    According to Luger, Frank just stopped working with him and Luger asked Fonzie what he should do.
    Fonzie called the spot for the ref bump and Luger climbed out of the cage and that is the end of what Fonzie knew of what happened.
    Luger in his own words said that he had been trained by Hiro Matsuda and was told after every match you"Must" thank your opponent win, lose or draw.
    So Luger went to the heel dressing room and thanked Brody and asked if he had done anything wrong and also offered himself up to get his ass kicked if that's what he had coming.
    He asked Frank did I do something wrong and he apologized for being green.
    Frank said, "No kid, it just wasn't right out there".
    Meaning the office wanted Luger to squash Brody which would have hurt him in Japan. So Frank was put in a bad situation and made a career call in the ring that didn't hurt him.
    Luger admits Frank was a big scary guy and said Frank could kick his ass, but he was no coward and he went to Frank immediately after the match which is what all of Hiro Matsuda's students were told to do.
    Frank did to the promoters what he always did to the promoters he fucked them and took care of himself. Then he boarded a plane and went back to Japan a bigger legend than he left.
    Frank Brody was tough but he was a smart businessman and had no animosity towards Luger at all.

    • @bohacekml
      @bohacekml 2 роки тому +8

      I heard the same thing about Luger. I wonder, though, what you say about Brody "Fucking" over promoters. He was always booked in the territories, so why would they keep booking him if he fucked them over? I always liked how he was a face in one territory and a heel in another. I could literally change the channel to the AWA and he'd be a face/heel, then on WCCW, he'd be the opposite. At the time when I thought it was real, I was confused, but still entertained either way.

    • @scopewrestling

      @@bohacekml Brody used to check the gates. If he knew it was a big house and he was the draw, he'd ask for an appropriate payoff relative to the gate.
      This is exactly why he'll always be known as the 1st independent wrestler, IMO.

    • @gopherstate777
      @gopherstate777 2 роки тому

      @@bohacekml You know Michael an average wrestler would never get away with it. But Brody was the real thing a legit tough guy and like Scope Wrestling said the first independent wrestler or even a real independent contractor as Vince like to call his Superstars (which they are not).
      Every territory Brody went to he popped it and promoters made money.
      I think today the only wrestler who comes close to calling his shots would be Brock Lesnar. And the truth, he only calls them in the WWE and Japan.
      Brody came into the AWA and I made sure to get a ticket every time. He was a guaranteed attraction .
      Fritz in WCCW, with Gary Hart as booker was magic for Frank because he and Gary were friends.
      I had heard that John Nord and Frank had a contract just before Bruisers murder in Puerto Rico to come into the WWF as a tag team and John claims he still has the paper work.
      Once Frank died Ron annd Don Harris used a simular gimmick but it would have been great to see the Bruiser and the Barbarian brothers in the WWF at the time.

    I find it funny that people would expect Lugar to act any different. Greenhorn in the ring with someone's Brody's size who stopped working. Anyone would wonder if Brody was going to shoot. If your name wasn't Race, Haku or Andre you would probably be worried about getting away from the situation. Bill has it right though. Bad booking. Lugar needed more Barry Windham or Arn Anderson at that time. I watched a Windham shoot and Barry said Lugar was hard to work with the first couple years.

You're asking a rookie who you're trying to get over to wrestle an over wrestler who won't job for him. This whole thing makes no sense, and this is with Dusty doing the booking. I heard a few years ago that Dusty liked to use the cage match a lot, even if there's no reason for it. I think this is one of those types of bookings. Ha...maybe it was a rib on Bruiser Brody!

      @@chrisruth7057 Why? Because Brody was huge and said huss huss huss? Dude, you're severely underestimating the toughness of a top athlete like Luger. Again, anyone that was a pro football player at 18-19 must be tough as hell, so yeah I wouldn't bet against Lex. I'm sure that on any given day Luger could have went punch to punch with him, but hey keep on having these wet dreams about big bad Brody.

      Pimp Daddy that is so freakin cold!!!! Brody was one of the best ever. Google his matches from Japan, his 1 hour classic with Flair in St Louis in 1986. He was murdered in cold blood 🤧 by a pos and left his wife a widow and his son without a father. No one deserves that.
