It is indeed cliched to be cynical at Christmas, that isn't going to stop me though.
Also, welcome to the slightly warped world of the mighty Half Man Half Biscuit, enjoy your stay.

This was a class favourite at high school...John Peel championed them, we all listened. Thanks for choosing this gem. Merry Christmas.

'Half Man Half Biscuit' are quite a cynical and satirical band, they're from Merseyside in the U.K. they started in the mid '80s and broke up towards the end of the '80s they reformed in 1990 if I remember rightly and are still going. Other tracks I recommend by them:
"The Light at The End of The Tunnel (Is The Light of An Incoming Train)",
"I'm Getting Buried in The Morning",
"The Trumpton Riots" (Trumpton was a kids TV program),
    "Every Time a Bell Rings",
    "Joy Division Oven Gloves",
    "Dickie Davies' Eyes",
"99% of Gargoyles Look Like Bob Todd",
There are many other tracks by them but these are some of my favourites.

I'd rather have a whole Bicuit but I'll settle for half o one. "National Sh!te Day", "Knobheads on Quiz Shows" and "Trumpton Riots" are other ones to watch for.
Also, although I'm not sure how well it'll go doon you could try "The Pest" by John Cooper Clarke. It's just him, nae band.

National Shite Day is deeply awesome, im also very fond of the one about the singer out of Slipknot going to Rome to see The Pope, but I never remember what it's called.

No, you're not seeing things. I'm actually commenting on this piece of provincial British Christmas cheer. I actually saw this band live when i was in England back in the 80's, and I really enjoyed them. I was also very drunk, so I can't say if they were even all that good...

HMHB are without doubt one of my favourite bands. Nigel Blackwell is a comedy genius and cynical as can be - there are no safe spaces for the targets of his machine-gun like humour. Listen to everything - there are almost no misses. Good spot - musically they are probably best described as post-punk (they ridicule punks, too, don't worry) Actually, this is one of my least favourites of theirs, the dirge-like music makes sense in the context of the song, but lacks their usual joyous musical nihilism.
My favourites are 'You've Got a Shit Arm (And That's a Bad Tattoo) - a hilarious roast of the Libertines and particularly Pete Doherty, and Joy Division Oven Gloves - a song about middle-aged, middle class people who still think they are rebellious teenagers (there's a lot of us about ;)) And let's not forget Fuckin' 'Ell! It's Fred Titmus - a song about the mundanity of life and people's consequent fascination with D-list celebrities (amongst other things)
As for the snow, bear in mind there is a LOT less snow here in England.
By the way, I like your channel above most of your more popular competitors because your choice of music is braver.

There can't be many people who would discuss time signatures and diminished chords when talking about HMHB. 😊
I hope you can find time to take a listen to their Joy Division Oven Gloves, some day. Otherwise, how will you ever get to know the cultural significance of piccalilli shin-pads?

Complete send up of any Christmas record from the last 50 years. You mention 'Trouble Over Bridgewater' which is, in case you hadn't figured it out yet, a play on a very famous Simon and Garfunkel track (Bridgewater is a town in south west England by the way). I highly recommend 'National Sh!te Day'

Very much a cult band, you have to be immersed in British culture to ‘get’ many of the songs, but people who do tend to love them. Dozens of favourites, Prag Vec at the Melkveg being just one of mine.
